Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

The revolution will be supervised.

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

Roe is not about choice. It is about freedom.

Sadly, media malpractice has become standard practice.

Jesus, Mary, & Joseph how is that election even close?

They were going to turn on one another at some point. It was inevitable.

It’s pointless to bring up problems that can only be solved with a time machine.

Just because you believe it, that does not make it true.

This fight is for everything.

Let’s not be the monsters we hate.

“Loving your country does not mean lying about its history.”

Tick tock motherfuckers!

Trump should be leading, not lying.

When someone says they “love freedom”, rest assured they don’t mean yours.

Make the republican party small enough to drown in a bathtub.

America is going up in flames. The NYTimes fawns over MAGA celebrities. No longer a real newspaper.

It’s always darkest before the other shoe drops.

Something needs to be done about our bogus SCOTUS.

Boeing: repeatedly making the case for high speed rail.

’Where will you hide, Roberts, the laws all being flat?’

If rights aren’t universal, they are privilege, not rights.

Republicans do not trust women.

Someone should tell Republicans that violence is the last refuge of the incompetent, or possibly the first.

“In the future, this lab will be a museum. do not touch it.”

Planning for Tomorrow’s Clusterfuck and Inevitable Server Meltdown

by John Cole|  November 5, 201210:47 pm| 61 Comments

This post is in: Election 2012, Previous Site Maintenance

FacebookTweetEmail

We have actually worked on a plan for tomorrow (GASP- PLANNING AHEAD?). What we are going to do is basically shut down every single post except for the Coveritlive livestreaming at 7pm EST. That way, there will be no need for refreshing the website and leading towards the inevitable crash.

What we need, though, is some user support. First, don’t visit old posts- there will be only one post on the front page, and that will be the coveritlive. Second, we need trusted users to help approve comments. Please, if you are a longtime commenters, email Mistermix with your username in the comments and let him know you would like to help out. Mistermix will have instructions above the coveritlive for the volunteers. Once the election is over and I think the server will be stable, I will open comments and old and new posts back up.

Thanks in advance for working with us.

You’re good people, Mr. Cole. Knowing that all plans are made and tomorrow’s outcome will be revealed in the fullness of time, I’m heading to bed.

Say your prayers tonight, everybody, and do your duty tomorrow.

    Salud!

I understand what you’re doing with the Coveritlive thing, but I just have to say how much I hate it. I know my laptop is ancient and all, but it freezes up a lot and when it’s not frozen, it scrolls by so fast I can’t keep up and I cannot seem to be able to comment no matter what I do.

But I’ll sit back and do my best to follow along. Okay, done bitching now.

Bah, I’d love to help approve comments, but I have family in town and will be pretty busy. I’d be happy to help with this sort of thing in the future, though.

But tomorrow is my birthday, and it will be a quite good day indeed.

ya’ll should really watch the final rally in Iowa tonight.

This is bittersweet. It’s the last time he will be rallying for his own election in his political career ever.

He’s ending where it all started, in Iowa.

Without Iowa in 2008, there’d be no President Barack Hussein Obama!

    FLOTUS and POTUS up now.

I’m going to be with people and booze, and IRCing with sarcastic friends.

If you want to do a quick whipround on getting MOAR DATABASE SERVER to deal with FYWP, I’d chip in, because the problem with coveritlive (as good as it is at handling crazy load) is that the archives are elsewhere, and I suspect there’ll be a fair bit that we’ll want preserved for the record.

It’s really not. I’m as glad to have Obama as president as anyone, but I DO have some sympathy for the man. After being termed out of what’s basically a hellish job and being ruthlessly villified in the public sphere for years, I think ex-presidents are entitled to take it easy, or at the very least be involved in politics exclusively on their own terms.
