Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

If ‘weird’ was the finish line, they ran through the tape and kept running.

The Giant Orange Man Baby is having a bad day.

Republicans are radicals, not conservatives.

Usually wrong but never in doubt

“Jesus paying for the sins of everyone is an insult to those who paid for their own sins.”

Republicans want to make it harder to vote and easier for them to cheat.

Nothing says ‘pro-life’ like letting children go hungry.

Just because you believe it, that does not make it true.

There are consequences to being an arrogant, sullen prick.

Accused of treason; bitches about the ratings. I am in awe.

“The defense has a certain level of trust in defendant that the government does not.”

With all due respect and assumptions of good faith, please fuck off into the sun.

They fucked up the fucking up of the fuckup!

These are not very smart people, and things got out of hand.

That’s my take and I am available for criticism at this time.

Hey Washington Post, “Democracy Dies in Darkness” was supposed to be a warning, not a mission statement.

I desperately hope that, yet again, i am wrong.

If you don’t believe freedom is for everybody, then the thing you love isn’t freedom, it is privilege.

It’s pointless to bring up problems that can only be solved with a time machine.

Disappointing to see gov. newsom with his finger to the wind.

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

if you can’t see it, then you are useless in the fight to stop it.

Baby steps, because the Republican Party is full of angry babies.

Republican also-rans: four mules fighting over a turnip.

Romney is conceding, and we did it.

God, it feels fucking good. But you all did it. You raised close to 90k for the black Satan, you went and walked the walk and knocked on doors and made phone calls, and you did what it took. I’m so proud of our own Kay who helped deliver Ohio, and all of you who made this happen. I feel like I have been an absentee blog owner for a couple months because I have been so demoralized by our lame politics and our shitty political media, but you all pulled through.

And we won. And it is beautiful.

The finest and funniest and most intelligent group (myself not included of course…) of left-leaning pugilists on this internet. I’ve been reading for years and only commenting far less than that but through the debates, the ups and downs, and thankfully more ups than downs, it’s been awesome. I was so happy to see my home state, the critical land of the Buckeye, come through and put POTUS over the top tonight just like 4 years ago. No idea how the 2nd term will go but I go to bed tonight feeling much better and much calmer. Thank you so much John. Give Tunch, Rosie and Lily hugs from all of us.

Watching MSNBC (I knew I would break the teevee on any other other channel) and waiting for the president’s victory speech. Very relieved and happy right now.

Plus I managed to finish sewing up the baby sweater I made for a co-worker’s shower, so double yays for not having to stay up until midnight to finish like I usually do. Now it’s just the wrapping left to do.

SWEET – Rmoney’s speech was far too long but not terrible;but still, no effort or words to unite America after this election nor to work together in any way – I guess thugs just are anti-united states. Strange, remember an other time a party was like that … oh, in 1860 or there abouts?

Hope trump the little prick tries to led his revolution by marching down through here – I’ll be waiting for that worthless asswipe. Yeah, trump was, is, and remains a coward; no chance of his doing more than shiting out of his mouth like rove the murdering asswipe.

We watched the returns with my parents, aged 79 and 67 and are fervent Obama supporters.

My Dad voted Republican his whole life, from 1956 all the way to 2004. After four years of Bush, he had had enough and voted for Kerry, mostly just to kick Bush out. That feeling of utter disappointment, I told him, is what being a Liberal/Democrat feels like a lot of the time.

But they loved Obama nearly from the beginning, even volunteering for him in 2008. I loved being able to watch this historic moment with them, because this has brought us together, rather than push us apart as politics often do.

An amazing night. So many wins on so many fronts (Obama, Duckworth, Warren, Baldwin, gay rights) that I feel like THIS is the night I will remember forever, even more than 2008.

Congratulations President Obama, and to everyone who helped this night happen.

@Brandon: People joke about MittBot but he was utterly robotic for 80% of that. He flowed a little better in his ‘homily’ section about pastors/family/values. Wasn’t a very long list of values (and irony was silently weeping during it).

I think Romney is very, very angry at some people. His fake smile was almost sarcastic, his gestures completely calculated and his cadence/tone almost affectless.

It was, indeed, odd. One is accustomed to some emotion in concession speeches. At least hug the family and let your voice break a little.

I feel really good. I think of 6 weeks canvassing (mostly on weekends) — the good people that I met here in VA — how many — women with small children, men, older folks — who Worked to get this done — and who I met on the other side o doors. Of all kinds of Americans from all ethnic backgrounds who said to me — we are there for the President — you can count on us — hardworking — not fancy people — a naturalized french woman who asked me in and talked to me about her dreams for this country..

It has been awesome! And I walked a fair amount of miles through Arlington and Alexandria neighborhoods.

Thank you Lord — our system managed to still work. Thank you thank you. Reading “Team of Rivals” about Lincoln and will see Spielberg’s movie. Time to light up a cigarette — Hmmmm — feels real good right now…

I completely agree. This feels much better than 2008 but, I really want to grind these people gonads on this one. I am in a league in NOLA and was bowling tonight so didn’t get home around 10:00. Most of the people in the bowling alley were pulling for Romney. Walked into the bar and heard someone say all we can hope for is the R’s getting the senate so they can stop everything.
Bah, I needed to get home to see what was going on. I get home and within a bit they call Ohio. Then the human butt plug, Rove, started to push against this. Then I see that a resounding vote for Democrats in all Senate races. Fast forward I see a contrived and fake speech from Rmoney. As these people on msnbc are praising it saying that if this guy was in the general he would have done better. Flip to fox and of course this mean that Obama needs to move to the center in the second term (Lanny fucking Davis really?)
From my mind there is no basis for a undecided/split electorate or needing to respect the views from the minority of mouth-breathing troglodytic knuckle draggers. These people ran on their platform, rape is rarely legitimate, tax cuts…. unicorns, and there is a black in the WHITE house.

Fuck them run them into the ground, salt the ground and welcome the second coming of the Bull Moose.

After spewing this rant I forgot to mention how many times “the minorities” or “the hispanics” were mentioned on Fox News. I guess they really don’t get it.

About kicking this douches in the chin ball: http://blogs.courier-journal.com/politics/2012/11/07/senate-minority-leader-mitch-mcconnell-congratulates-president-barack-obama-on-his-victory/

Yes, Yes, Yes, that is exactly what the public voted on. For the last two years people have been deciding on whether or not we wanted to keep a divided government. Most people throughout the nation are pulling for a rethug house. To wit: all of the numerous douchebags that are losing tonight minus those safe via redistricting.

Seems to me (but I, although a dick, am not an unknowing douchebag) that yertle the turtle can fuck himself. I would say that the “people” showed what they think of the little r party.

I know this won’t happen but, I would love someone (minus Steve Schmidt) to recognize that the math was correct. there wasn’t skewing, or thuggery, or an Obama mural, or hurricane Sandy, or morons thinking that sperm is stopped by thoughts (unless you’re easy). They lost because their governing sucks… they don’t have any answers but to blame “the others”

I grew up in MN. The loss of an sane R party that stood up for education, conservation, and an effective government is sad. Not that I would vote for it now but choosing between stable representatives and people in tri-corner hats is not a choice.

    Oh, yeah! Right on!

I hope now that Mitch McConnell’s “deny Obama a second term” strategy has been thoroughly repudiated, the Republican Party will become more of a loyal opposition in congress.
