Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

Republicans are the party of chaos and catastrophe.

Wow, you are pre-disappointed. How surprising.

Why is it so hard for them to condemn hate?

White supremacy is terrorism.

No offense, but this thread hasn’t been about you for quite a while.

Let’s delete this post and never speak of this again.

American History and Black History Cannot Be Separated

You don’t get rid of your umbrella while it’s still raining.

Pessimism assures that nothing of any importance will change.

It’s all just conspiracy shit beamed down from the mothership.

“Can i answer the question? No you can not!”

This isn’t Democrats spending madly. This is government catching up.

Jack be nimble, jack be quick, hurry up and indict this prick.

Republicans seem to think life begins at the candlelight dinner the night before.

Is it negotiation when the other party actually wants to shoot the hostage?

Republicans can’t even be trusted with their own money.

If you are still in the GOP, you are an extremist.

Within six months Twitter will be fully self-driving.

How can republicans represent us when they don’t trust women?

The next time the wall street journal editorial board speaks the truth will be the first.

But frankly mr. cole, I’ll be happier when you get back to telling us to go fuck ourselves.

Fuck the extremist election deniers. What’s money for if not for keeping them out of office?

Cole is on a roll !

    The only game I’ve got right now is Eagles-Redskins. Ugh. So ugh that I’m switching between it and women’s golf.

    Awaiting Colts-Patriots at 4:00 and (somewhat eagerly) awaiting Ravens-Steelers at 8:00.

    @Just Some Fuckhead:

    I don’t follow either team in minute detail, so maybe you can tell me: is Baltimore too damaged by injuries, or is that balanced by Roethlisberger being out?

    Earlier I was worried about a Steelers rout; now I’m worried about two depleted teams stumbling through a snoozefest.

    My spouse wants to know why I’m so interested in watching a football game with a 55-yard line, all those people milling around before the snap, and something called “objectionable conduct”.

    Then I mention that the season wraps up by the end of Thanksgiving weekend, and that seems to go over pretty well.

    I’m figuring BC in the West, Montreal in the East.

    I’m still recovering from yesterday; Trojans go down and Ducks go down. I was rooting for KSU, but it’s not like they lost a squeaker, so good riddance. I don’t see how USC takes out ND next week, so one team is set (and they will be drubbed by whomever they play).

    @Steeplejack: Ellerbe plays well in Ray Lewis’ position, no issues there. Jimmy Smith isn’t nearly as good as Ladarius Webb, so that one hurts. Haloti Ngata has been fighting injuries all season so there’s concern there.

    Aside from injuries, Flacco doesn’t seem to be as “mechanical” as someone who thinks they are an elite quarterback should be. The offense either seems to be completely ineffective or playing lucky.

    As far as the Steelers, they are only as good as Roethlisberger is able to improvise. He’s a single person game changer like no one else in the league. It can’t be good with him out.

    @Mark S.:

    But the computers really love Florida. They may end up screwing this whole thing up.

    Florida has to find a way to win the SEC and it looks like they won’t even get a chance since Georgia beat them (I haven’t checked schedules to see who plays who in the SEC; I’m still getting over that UCLA might play Stanford two consecutive weeks, which is royally screwed up, but it is what it is).

  21. 21.

    Mark S.

    November 18, 2012 at 2:49 pm

    This is embarrassing to admit. It’s actually more embarrassing than the fact that I used to be a Republican. I am a Cowboys fan.

    And not a fair weather one. I do remember that fucking 1-15 season. But I might finally be over them. They are a poorly coached, hugely stupid team. And they are never going to change, because when Jerry Jones dies and goes to hell, one of his idiot sons is going to take over.

    I’d convert to Steelerism if it weren’t for Roethlisberger.

    @Paul in KY:

    Georgia or Bama is licking their chops.

    Either will crush the Domers; we could have been saved from this unfortunate ending if Pitt hadn’t choked (or perhaps the Refs didn’t choke the end of ND/Stanford away). But, as with the last post, it is what it is. I can’t recall the last time I rooted for the Trojans (true blue Bruin here), but I’ll be doing so next week. If ND does go down and Stanford beats UCLA (thus closing the door on the Ducks), the BCS will be chaos.

    November 18, 2012 at 2:52 pm

    If Florida sits at home during the SEC championship and ends up ranked 3rd in the polls, it’s conceivable the computers could put them over the top.

    I watched it for a bit, but unlike most Eagle’s fans, who are raised to root for the Eagles from a young age, I realize as a transplant to the greater Philadelphia area what the Eagles need to play for is a high draft pick.

    They have some very good talent in place, but need to rebuild the offensive line. A good offensive line can cover up so many deficiencies in a QB, plus McCoy behind a top notch offensive line would be good.
