Welcome to the Idiocracy

Looks like America has found one man who does not need a 30 round magazine:

The Washington Metropolitan Police Department is investigating whether any city laws were violated when NBC’s David Gregory displayed what appeared to be a 30-round gun magazine on NBC’s “Meet the Press” on Sunday, a spokesman confirmed to POLITICO.

“The Metropolitan Police Department is investigating this matter,” said police officer and spokesman Araz Alali in an interview Tuesday.

When pressed on what the police department was investigating, Alali added, “The ‘Meet the Press’, David Gregory incident.”

“There are D.C. code violations, D.C. code restrictions on guns, ammunition. We are investigating this matter. Beyond the scope of that, I can’t comment any further,” he said.

Dumbest nation in the world.

So, are jack-booted thugs taking apart the ‘Meet The Press’ set? I’m getting happy just thinking about that.

Yes, because David Gregory, without the gun, but with the magazine, could have raised a few lumps on Wayne LaPierre’s thick cranium, if he got into a fit of rage during the interview.

Actually, I might have paid to see that!

Or, manually inserted the bullets into LaPierre’s ample ass.

THAT, I wouldn’t have paid to see.

Or, thrown the bullets at the head of the NRA, until he had a cardiac arrest from ducking.

This won’t lead to anything. We need to start a campaign for David Gregory to do an exposé on the nation’s drug laws.

Hey, we’re only the dumbest nation if we let David Gregory represent us.

He’s also dull as dirt, and a supreme bootlicker of old republican man-ass. So I guess he could represent the Washington press corpse.

I take it the studio where they did the interview is in Washington DC. A criminal prosecution, while within the authorities’ power, would probably be overkill here; it seems there was no criminal intent on the part of Meet The Press. And DC Metro PD is surely wise enough to exercise its discretion and just remind NBC about the letter of the relevant law. That’s what I expect they will eventually do.

But it’s not actually dumb for the police to investigate this, though; they would need to have a case file as a basis for recommending (or not recommending) prosecution to the DA.

This started right after the interview. The RW blogs were looking for something concrete to criticize Gregory with. Tried to keen about his kids going to a well guarded school and when that didn’t take the glommed onto the magazine. It ran around the usual suspects (Malkin, Blaze etc) and I guess they finally convinced the cops to look into it. Total waste of e

This may be the best thing David Gregory has ever said (it’s probably appeared elsewhere on BJ already):

But that’s not a response to my question, Mr. LaPierre. What I hear you saying is, “Well, you can’t do anything about the high capacity ammunition magazines because it simply won’t work, yet you’re proposing things that you don’t know will completely work. But you’re into the art of the possible, because your standard is anything that has a chance of work we ought to try, except when it has to do with guns or ammunition. Don’t you see that people see that as a complete dodge?

By the way, if I were a member of the Congressional Mental Health Caucus, I’d have already sent a letter to the NRA asking for their support for any upcoming or new legislation.

The only reason David Gregory and the rest of the Village gave a crap about Newtown is because it happened to little kids in a white upper class town in Connecticut close to where a bunch of banksters/hedge funds and trust fund babies live. If it had been in a minority neighborhood in Texas or Illinois it would have been a two day story with no big interview with Whyne LaPig.

Righties have been bitching about this since Sunday. I saw the teahadist tribal smoke signals going out about this at Redstate a couple of days ago. If he broke the law then I hope Stretch is nailed to the wall for it but only because his brethren on the right are calling for his scalp. If Gregory wants to massage McCain (and other conservative) scrotum every weekend on national TV then let him pay the price for polishing their turds when they turn on him.
