Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

Everything is totally normal and fine!!!

Many life forms that would benefit from greater intelligence, sadly, do not have it.

They punch you in the face and then start crying because their fist hurts.

Republicans want to make it harder to vote and easier for them to cheat.

People really shouldn’t expect the government to help after they watched the GOP drown it in a bathtub.

I did not have this on my fuck 2025 bingo card.

fuckem (in honor of the late great efgoldman)

Michigan is a great lesson for Dems everywhere: when you have power…use it!

“woke” is the new caravan.

Fight them, without becoming them!

If you are still in the gop, you are either an extremist yourself, or in bed with those who are.

Marge, god is saying you’re stupid.

The media handbook says “controversial” is the most negative description that can be used for a Republican.

When I was faster i was always behind.

Pessimism assures that nothing of any importance will change.

Yeah, with this crowd one never knows.

Impressively dumb. Congratulations.

Rupert, come get your orange boy, you petrified old dinosaur turd.

It’s a good piece. click on over. but then come back!!

Shallow, uninformed, and lacking identity

A sufficient plurality of insane, greedy people can tank any democratic system ever devised, apparently.

Republicans: slavery is when you own me. freedom is when I own you.

Proof that we need a blogger ethics panel.

We’ve had enough carrots to last a lifetime. break out the sticks.

The hair? Our best friends’ son & DIL just got their new baby (their genes & embryo, carried by surrogate: ain’t medical technology grand?) and the little* fellow came with just such a mop of hair already installed. Must be due to climate change or something…

    January 11, 2013 at 5:28 pm

    John,

It thought most babies with dark hair actually have quite a lot when they are born, but that’s not always the case. Here in AZ, all of the Hispanic/Mexican babies that I have seen newborn have had hair like that–really hope that I’m not saying anything offensive….. I was born with a lot of white hair. My daughter is 1/4 Cuban and she had a ton of silky black hair when she was born. It all fell out and by six months a lighter brown was growing back in. My son had a little bit and it was blond.

Have you heard of the old myth that if a baby has hair the mother will suffer really bad heartburn? Well it may not have a scientific basis but I had the worst heartburn ever while pregnant with my daughter and I tease her about it to this day.

I remember it quite well, especially since my niece and nephew were born a few hours later. We had a slightly early birthday party for them last week, going out to lunch at the Top of the Hub restaurant in Boston. Living dangerously: bringing two babies to lunch at a nice restaurant…

(We came at a time when the place was nearly empty, and brought all the necessary infrastructure to keep them happy. Still a bit of a gamble though. Fortunately, all went well)

That’s a decent amount of hair. Two of mine had that much. The youngest Squidlet came out dark, but a bunch of blond snuck in underneath, so we got a bit of a surprise on his first haircut.

Congrats to the Kittens. Can’t wait for the next picture, which I am hoping will be SamK holding his bitty brother.

Does AlexKitten have any teeth? My next younger sister had wonderful dark hair like that and even longer, plus a couple of teeth. (I had orange fuzz at birth, so she was a great surprise.)

My Mia Mouse had that much hair when she was born, and she never lost it—it was all that dark, too. It grew in curly, and now that she’s two, she has enough for adorable curly piggy tails. But she was hairy all over….born at 39 weeks, so she had swirls of hair on her shoulders. I told her when she was born that I was sorry about all the inevitable waxing. she had so much hair that they could see it on the ultrasounds. Sarah Bear didn’t have quite that much, but it was dark when she was born. By six months, she was a flaming redhead, and by a year, it was all blonde curls. Genetics, she is a tricky mistress.

    Mazel tov!

Heh, that hair…Miss E easily had the most hair in our ward, inch long black mop that eerily resembled that of the hospital’s parking attendant who happened to be the most famous Filipino Elvis Presley impersonator in our area–Renelvis. I stopped worrying when her hair grew in red, definitely moar from my family tree!

@suzanne: Okay, I just realized we have Suzanne (upper case) who just passed some tests related to architecture and suzanne (lower case) who may be someone else entirely. Is that correct?

    @WaterGirl:

I thought we only had one suzanne and that the one with two little girls is the same one who is getting her architecture certifications.

If not, then I’m almost as confused as I was when Some Guy, someguy, and some guy were three separate commenters.

    Congratulations to the Kitten family.

My first child had enough hair for the nursery nurses to braid it. It began to fall out slightly and was quickly replaced by tight curls that could only be brushed.

Congratulations! Beautiful boy. Welcome to te club of living in a home with three males. It only gets messier from here!

Both my boys were born with dark, dark heads of hair that would have made Uncle Jessie from Full House envious. The oldest one lost most of his, looking like Ed Asner in some pics. He has beautiful, thick dark hair. The youngest kept his mostly, but it lightened up to a softer brown. I had terrible heartburn with both pregnancies. Fucking wives’ tales.

Congrats to the Kitten family! He’s a beautiful boy. 30 years ago last week I gave birth to one that big and with a mop of dark hair just like it.
He’s 6’5″ and blond now. Enjoy the ride Redkitten, it’s the best thing I ever did!
