Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

Pessimism assures that nothing of any importance will change.

The rest of the comments were smacking Boebert like she was a piñata.

Marge, god is saying you’re stupid.

I would gladly pay you tuesday for a hamburger today.

If you tweet it in all caps, that makes it true!

Technically true, but collectively nonsense

GOP baffled that ‘we don’t care if you die’ is not a winning slogan.

Lick the third rail, it tastes like chocolate!

Republicans: The threats are dire, but my tickets are non-refundable!

Let there be snark.

I don’t recall signing up for living in a dystopian sci-fi novel.

A sufficient plurality of insane, greedy people can tank any democratic system ever devised, apparently.

People really shouldn’t expect the government to help after they watched the GOP drown it in a bathtub.

“Alexa, change the president.”

Today in our ongoing national embarrassment…

I’m more christian than these people and i’m an atheist.

Shallow, uninformed, and lacking identity

Their freedom requires your slavery.

The real work of an opposition party is to hold the people in power accountable.

Do not shrug your shoulders and accept the normalization of untruths.

Tick tock motherfuckers!

There is no compromise when it comes to body autonomy. You either have it or you do not.

The Supreme Court cannot be allowed to become the ultimate, unaccountable arbiter of everything.

If you thought you’d already seen people saying the stupidest things possible on the internet, prepare yourselves.

Late Night Open Thread

Construction on the new house is coming along.  We’ve got footings and foundation in, and plumbing rough-in was completed on Friday.  Had a nice day with my sister’s family today.  Not much going on really.   Attached to this post, before and after pictures of our recent trip to the dog groomer. Enjoy!

Yes, I know I look hideous! Isn't my tail just about the best thing in the world?

When posting photos, forcing a large (~3200×2500) photo into a small space is kind of annoying.

    Cute little dog.

ETA: I’ve been watching that kitten cam. The five kittens are getting bigger and cuter. They are out of the cage space and free roaming in the big room with things to climb and other toys.

It looks like Tom Tancredo is backing out of his promise to smoke weed if the Colorado Proposition 64 passed.

Tancredo supported the amendment because he thought the marijuana prohibition policy was ineffective. He said he’s backing off the bet because he doesn’t want to set a bad example to his grandchildren.

That’s not a dog is it? It looks more like a dust mop that lost its handle! ;p

    @Origuy:

What news is this? So what if a conservative makes a promise that they back out of when it comes due, that shit happens on a daily basis in this country so no news there.

I do have to give him points for thinking of the children (as a good excuse to back out of it).

@The prophet Nostradumbass: Sooner, you could just screencap the photos at the size you want and use MS Paint to cut it to size. On a Mac use option+shift+4 and select what you want, then save as a png if it saves as a picture (I think newer OS saves as a png by default).

My Sammie is also a little white dust mop, but he always looks mega-cheerful as a big fluffy mess, and rather embarrassed when he comes home all spiffy with a scarf around his neck.

What kind of heating/cooling system are you going with Soonergrunt?

Let me regale you with the wonders of a geothermal system, if it’s not too late (probably is).

@redshirt: It’s not too late, but it’s also a little on the high side. We can afford a 95% gas system though.

Hey, all–honestly, the pictures didn’t look too big on my home computer in Google Chrome. I resized them to 600×400 and the appeared to me to fit well inside the frame on the site.

@Soonergrunt: You should look into it. I think geothermal is more cost effective than you realize, since you get a 30% tax credit with the Feds with any purchase, and it functions incredibly well as a whole house AC system as well as your main heating system. It cools better than it heats.

Throw in a small bank of solar panels and you’ve reduced your energy/electric bills dramatically.

Every new house in the South/Southwest should have a geothermal AC system and solar panels. IMO!

Sooner, how much does that little dog weigh? I’ve got a five-month-old Havanese-poodle cross whom we think will end up around 12 pounds and I’m trying to figure out what that looks like. Thanks!
