Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

Insiders who complain to politico: please report to the white house office of shut the fuck up.

People are complicated. Love is not.

if you can’t see it, then you are useless in the fight to stop it.

Incompetence, fear, or corruption? why not all three?

fuckem (in honor of the late great efgoldman)

This really is a full service blog.

Peak wingnut was a lie.

Happy indictment week to all who celebrate!

I’ve spoken to my cat about this, but it doesn’t seem to do any good.

Putin dreamed of ending NATO, and now it’s Finnish-ed.

The GOP is a fucking disgrace.

The republican caucus is already covering themselves with something, and it’s not glory.

Today’s GOP: why go just far enough when too far is right there?

You cannot shame the shameless.

Some judge needs to shut this circus down soon.

I’m pretty sure there’s only one Jack Smith.

Teach a man to fish, and he’ll sit in a boat all day drinking beer.

Only Democrats have agency, apparently.

They are lying in pursuit of an agenda.

Impressively dumb. Congratulations.

Tick tock motherfuckers!

An almost top 10,000 blog!

And we’re all out of bubblegum.

Personally, I am watching the puppy bowl and can not get enough of it. Those damned hedgehogs are ADORABLE. Puppy Bowl may be as genius a marketing move as Shark Week.

This should be an interesting game; under normal circumstances, I’d go with the Niners, but I hate that their starer is a first year starter and their kicker will be in need of a couch or a comfy, padded room after the game. This should be a field goal game and I just have a feeling that, after this game, Akers will be known as “Norwood” (hey, it’s better than “No Wood”).

I’m calling Ravens in a squeaker.

We had a wildly successful Souper Bowl Sunday at my church: we raised ~$600 for Second Harvest, and my soup was the first to get eated! It was Smitten Kitchen’s Black Bean & Pumpkin, always a winner. I made it vegan for our one vegan guy, but he was too tired to stick around after service.

I know that Biscuit has a wonderful and inspiring story, and Chestnut really gave a good run at MVP, but I did feel that Marta deserved the award and I was glad she won.

We put the PuppyBowl on in the basement for WarriorGirl, and How it’s Made on in our bedroom. I can watch PBS on the broadcast-only TV in the kitchen, but we’ve already eaten the homemade pizza.

My first Puppy Bowl! Had to track down Animal Planet on this system. But after Anne Laurie’s post on it yesterday, had to see it. Cuter than could ever imagine cuteness.

Can’t believe all of these puppies don’t get adopted. The Washington Post article said most of them did. And that the kittens had already all been adopted. (YAY!) And also hope that the shelters say “come on in, we got more” when they get the calls. But imagine they’re all prepped to max the local PR on this.

AnimalPlanet.com has the “starting line-up” that pictures each pup and mentions its “Adoption Organization”. But those org sites are not linked. And there is no description or indication I can find in the Puppy Bowl section about adopting.

ETA: WP going lil crazy, if double post, very sorry

Watching Puppy Bowl while waiting to go to dinner with the in-laws. Everyone arrived safely and we even brought them to the apartment for a couple of hours to freak the cats right the eff out.

Is it just me, or is the Puppy Bowl more commercial than last year? I am not enjoying the cut-ins of the “stars” of various Animal Planet shows, and the commercial for breath mints by the referee was just annoying. But the Kiss Cam is freakin’ adorable, I must admit.
