Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

Balloon Juice has never been a refuge for the linguistically delicate.

Republicans in disarray!

But frankly mr. cole, I’ll be happier when you get back to telling us to go fuck ourselves.

Consistently wrong since 2002

This really is a full service blog.

This blog will pay for itself.

And we’re all out of bubblegum.

Jesus, Mary, & Joseph how is that election even close?

Hot air and ill-informed banter

Republicans don’t want a speaker to lead them; they want a hostage.

A snarling mass of vitriolic jackals

We still have time to mess this up!

It’s time for the GOP to dust off that post-2012 autopsy, completely ignore it, and light the party on fire again.

Shallow, uninformed, and lacking identity

Within six months Twitter will be fully self-driving.

Red lights blinking on democracy’s dashboard

The truth is, these are not very bright guys, and things got out of hand.

Sitting here in limbo waiting for the dice to roll

After roe, women are no longer free.

If senate republicans had any shame, they’d die of it.

You don’t get to peddle hatred on saturday and offer condolences on sunday.

Sadly, there is no cure for stupid.

Whatever happens next week, the fight doesn’t end.

Accused of treason; bitches about the ratings. I am in awe.

Prepping for the trip to Austin. Day has been a hot mess or I would have written a sub-par post. Instead, you get this.

BTW- Zsa Zsa is about a week away from declaring the entire house her oyster. She’s all over the place, and with the kinds of mad energy this household has not experienced in a while. I have also come to the conclusion that I haven’t really been a cat owner the last decade with Tunch. I had an ottoman/heavy throw rug/purring pillow, but I most certainly did not have a cat.

Heh. Poor Tunch. Always the brunt of the joke. And all because he’s big boned.

I love that you have a critter named ZsaZsa. Glad she is making herself at home. You know you have to get her a rhinestone collar, right? She is ZsaZsa after all.

@Doodah: Oh man, not mine. I have 8,9,9, and 10. I’m sure my downstairs neighbor thinks I have small elephants who choose from 9 pm to 2 am to race around like mad things. Chasing, jumping, climbing the cat tree, yowling. Oy, the yowling, makes me wish for a hamster.

Sorry, floofy. It’s just that we see a lot of the original Human Tunch around here as he’s a radio and tv personality now that he’s retired from the NFL. And he really IS big boned. No way you’d call him floofy.

Which makes me wonder…what does Tunch look like when he all wet? And could you still call him floofy if his fur is not hiding any embarrassing body parts that, on myself, I cover with spanx?

Still feeling burned out from finishing the draft of the novel. Maybe I’ll get something done tomorrow. Maybe even something other than attending the first game of the WCHA playoffs for the only team in NCAA women’s hockey history to finish the regular season with a perfect record.

Are you going to be out of Austin before the SXSW festival starts? Do you like huge crowds? busy airports? Have fun.

My cat is usually pretty low-key, but she’s started a new thing. She had been sleeping downstairs when I had ‘the cat that didn’t work out’ because that cat would chase her out of the bedroom. Now that she can come back up again, she’s been coming into the bedroom at about midnight and mmeeooww!ing at me to get out of bed and pet her. She won’t jump up on the bed but she wants attention. I’m trying to ignore her to the point where she’ll start to sleep on the bed again.

I’m guessing that Cole has never actually used Tunch as a pillow, though I believe we would get one hell of a story if he did, with or without a mop involved.

@gbear: By ‘ignore her’, I meant that I talk to her and try to get her to jump up on the bed (until I fall back to sleep), but hell if I’m going to get out of bed and lie on the floor to keep her company.

Halley does act like she needs a buddy. I’m still watching the MN Animal Humane Society’s site and looking for a good match for her.

Iam having the same experience with Sulu Belle. She has completely taken over my home. If there is anything — bills, papers, lighters, bottle caps, pens, lip balm, cell phone, etc. — on the counter, desk or wherever that Sulu does not like or is in her way she’ll knock it off on the floor & will hide if it is small enough. Nothing belongs to me anymore.

Inasmuch as this kitten has tried my patience, she more than makes up for it with her antics. She is so funny. Sulu is a true delight & a joy. She has touched my heart. I would not give her up for the world although I’ve threatened to do so if she did not behave. Suffice to say, Sulu didn’t believe me. Rightfully so.

Scalia’s boorish arrogance and indifference to law, precedent, and facts is indeed something that ought to be of paramount importance to the Fourth Estate, and it is, but for all the wrong reasons. Scalia may be a cartoon, and an entertaining one at that, but no one ever asks why in heaven’s name, we all have to live under laws interpreted by such a clownish and sophomoric bigot, who so proudly holds America’s actual citizenry in such contempt.
    THIS is great stuff.
