This Post is Full of Racial Entitlement

We’ve been known to name an asshole of the day, but when you have Antonin Scalia saying stuff like this:

Now, I don’t think that’s attributable to the fact that it is so much clearer now that we need this. I think it is attributable, very likely attributable, to a phenomenon that is called perpetuation of racial entitlement. It’s been written about. Whenever a society adopts racial entitlements, it is very difficult to get out of them through the normal political processes.

And then Bob Woodward reported that the White House said he would regret his Washington Post op-ed published last week. When really, the White House said:

I apologize for raising my voice in our conversation today. My bad. …
But I do truly believe you should rethink your comment about saying that Potus asking for revenues is moving the goal post. I know you may not believe this, but as a friend, I think you will regret staking out that claim.

It’s really hard to choose the bigger asshole.

Okay, that’s not true. Scalia is the bigger asshole.

Today on #TWiBRadio, we also discussed Justice Sotomayor’s BOSS status, and my discovery of Trap Music. God help us all.

And this morning on #amTWiB, an Ohio bartender was fired for calling the cops on a drunk driving customer, a dad threw a burrito at his kid, and L. Joy is shocked to learn that a movie still costs $6.75 in some parts of the country. Check it out:

Life was a lot easier before the black people got the notion that they are entitled to vote.

Scalia is the bigger asshole. Both, however, prove the axiom “there is no fool like an old fool.”

Woodward’s self-immolation is quite a sight though. He lost so much credibility so fast.

It’s not the first time Scalia has spouted right-wing talking points:

Whenever a society adopts racial entitlements, it is very difficult to get out of them through the normal political processes.

Hence the civil war and Brown v. Board of Education. In Scalia’s twisted mind, section 5 is of a piece with slavery and segregation.

Okay, that’s not true. Scalia is the bigger asshole.

It’s always Scalia. Even if he’s in the same room with Ted Nugent and Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.

So the Fifteenth Amendment and the VRA was written to stop the racial entitlement that was occurring and now Scalia thinks that it is causing racial entitlement. Is that right?

Well, Businessweek is busy holding the line against the blah’s sense of being entitled to titles to houses. It’s all over the place suddenly.

I saw Scalia’s comment like this, I don’t believe he’s calling voting the entitlement, I believe he’s referring to legislation that targets a specific demographic as the entitlement. And here, I think we should humor him and expand Section 5 of the VRA to all 50 states.

After all, Paul Wyerich now has followers and supporters in all 50 states.

The targeted demographic 40 years ago were the minorities. Today, the targeted demographic has become …anyone associated with the political party that certain state and local elections officials don’t like…who often, coincidentally, happen to be minorities, students and the elderly…you know, democrats

What makes Scalia a towering giant of an asshole is how much power he has over the lives of others.

Ted Nugent? Just don’t go on his reality show.

I was walking down the street expressing my racial entitlement to walk without being arrested when I stopped off in a public accomodation and expressed my racial entitlement to shop. Then I got in my car and expressed my racial entitlement to go pick up my kid at the school she attends through racist entitlement. You know, actually, it works pretty well to describe my white existence. Maybe Scalia is projecting.

    @Cacti:

Perhaps it does in his gigantic super awesome legal mind?

Aside from that….please, don’t cherry pick. Because I do not support Scalia in any way shape or form and the remainder of that post kinda does allude to that.

Also too, Scalia believes the Constitution is dead, dead, dead.

If the VRA was constitutional in 1965 under the 15th Amendment, what happened to the dead constitution that would change this basic fact?

Fat Bastard Tony: “Whenever a society adopts racial entitlements…”

How true Fat Bastard, how true. Like the entitlements that have favored whites throughout most of our history as a society and nation.

Fat Bastard Tony:“Whenever a society adopts racial entitlements, it is very difficult to get out of them through the normal political processes.”

Fat Bastard Tony, once again you’ve nailed it! Look at all of the problems that other races and groups have had to go through to be recognized as equals by whites.

Oh, that isn’t what you were saying? No shit.

I’m not a constitutional lawyer, just the garden variety type, but to me “racial entitlement” makes no sense & it’s quite unclear what he’s referring to; and I fail to see the constitutional argument in it being politically difficult to get rid of something , even assuming arguendo that that’s true with a group of people disinclined to reauthorize something called the Violence Against Women Act. I know he cited to Israeli law, but a) frankly that made no sense either, and b) when Kennedy did it, it caused many vapors. International law! Might as well adopt Sharia!

    Wherein, he’s flat wrong.

The legislation is targetted at specific BEHAVIOR against a specific demographic.

Stop behaving that way, and the legal strictures go away, race or no race.

I think we should humor him and expand Section 5 of the VRA to all 50 states.

Oh. Well, that sounds good to me, too.

Yes, at this point you may have to invent a new category for Antonin Scalia, something like “Asshole of the Century” or possibly “Asshole of the Millenium” or maybe even “Asshole of the Geologic Epoch”…

I realize as humans we like to categorize people and things to suit our prejudices but what difference does it make how big of asshole every conservative is? They all qualify as assholes because they have no empathy, they lie and they hate any actual verifiable facts(not that crap they repeat to each other to try and make it real).
Having said all that I will concede that fat tony must be a pretty big ass hole – he’s always spewing massive amounts of shit.
Fat tony seems to me the kind of asshole who thinks he’s a lot smarter than he really is. To me he has all the intellect of a steaming pile of dog shit.

    Edit: Maybe ‘Galactahole’?
