Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

Within six months Twitter will be fully self-driving.

They fucked up the fucking up of the fuckup!

Since when do we limit our critiques to things we could do better ourselves?

And we’re all out of bubblegum.

Republican obstruction dressed up as bipartisanship. Again.

“More of this”, i said to the dog.

We cannot abandon the truth and remain a free nation.

Too often we confuse noise with substance. too often we confuse setbacks with defeat.

Motto for the House: Flip 5 and lose none.

🎶 Those boots were made for mockin’ 🎵

Presidents are not kings, and Plaintiff is not President.

Despite his magical powers, I don’t think Trump is thinking this through, to be honest.

Republicans do not pay their debts.

I’d try pessimism, but it probably wouldn’t work.

Yeah, with this crowd one never knows.

Prediction: the GOP will rethink its strategy of boycotting future committees.

Authoritarian republicans are opposed to freedom for the rest of us.

Hot air and ill-informed banter

Teach a man to fish, and he’ll sit in a boat all day drinking beer.

Reality always lies in wait for … Democrats.

I really should read my own blog.

Give the craziest people you know everything they want and hope they don’t ask for more? Great plan.

Let’s delete this post and never speak of this again.

Let’s not be the monsters we hate.

    SP&T’s alive!

    Are you still in Oz trying to find a way to feed Gina Rinehart to the dingos?

    I love Of Monsters and Men. Great selection.

    OT – Sen Portman now supports gay marriage since his son came out as gay.

    A music themed open thread? Sounds like the perfect time to pimp the newest love of my life, Lindsey Stirling (just don’t tell my wife). That girls got nothing but raw talent and major geek cred.

    @PeakVT:

    I AM alive, apparently.

    I’m still down under. It’s been a busy couple of months, but hopefully I will have a little more time over the next few weeks to post some more than I have been.

    @askew: Yeah. Same with Dick Cheney. What the fuck does Portman want a cookie?

    @Sarah, Proud and Tall: Hello darling. I’ve been meaning to drop you a note but I freely confess to falling down on that task. I take it your gin supply is adequate?

    That Of Monsters and Men song is on heavy rotation on the two “alternative rock” stations here in Los Angeles, FWIW.

    Hello, dear. How are you?

    Yes, they have gin down here as well. Who would have thought?

    @Mnemosyne: I have always had a soft spot in my heart for female trumpet players. It tends to congregate the macho guys and the women usually blow the doors off the guys.

    @Sarah, Proud and Tall: I should hope that a Commonwealth nation would host an adequate supply. I exempt Malaysia from this expectation for obvious reasons.

    I’m deciding what creature comforts I can live without since I’ll be forced into a pay cut come May. I’m thinking the housecleaning shall have to go. It’s horrid, but I still have a decent benefit package.

    That Of Monsters and Men song has been my favorite thing on the radio as f late. I first heard it almost two years ago, and it’s blown up the last couple of months.

    Sarah – Thanks for the clue-in on Rudimental. They’re like an updated version of Massive Attack for a new era. Their official video for “Not Giving In” has a Danny Boyle-like feel to it and is hella entertaining. “Spoons” is a really cool late night jam you can check out on their site.

    @Yutsano:
    Actually, there are plenty of Malaysians who like their gin (not including me, of course, since the legal drinking age for a Muslim is dead-&-gone-to-heaven), and plenty of places where they may drink it. I expect the availability of gin here is quite adequate.

    @Amir Khalid:

    Really? I thought they had been discontinued, at least in this stupid country (USA). I quite liked them back in the day.

    I think I got closest to actually having an orgy on those bad boys. They made you kind of fall in love with whoever was next to you.

    eta: Now on Shakira videos. TBogg would approve.

    @dance around in your bones:
    I wasn’t aware Quaaludes had been discontinued. My bad. Haven’t been keeping up on recreational drugs of late, you see. I was just assuming that the local rec-drug retail sector, being such resourceful people and all, could get you anything under the sun.

    (since I dance around in my bones)

    @Amir Khalid – haven’t taken them for over 30 – 40 years? But yeah, I think they discontinued the disco biscuits a long time ago.

    Hiya, Sarah!

    Just wanted to let you know that you convinced the CBC to play Of Monsters and men just a few minutes ago. Now if you could somehow convince Steven Harper to take a long damn walk …
