Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

Too often we confuse noise with substance. too often we confuse setbacks with defeat.

People are complicated. Love is not.

Jesus, Mary, & Joseph how is that election even close?

It’s time for the GOP to dust off that post-2012 autopsy, completely ignore it, and light the party on fire again.

Wow, I can’t imagine what it was like to comment in morse code.

Incompetence, fear, or corruption? why not all three?

They’re not red states to be hated; they are voter suppression states to be fixed.

This blog will pay for itself.

They traffic in fear. it is their only currency. if we are fearful, they are winning.

fuckem (in honor of the late great efgoldman)

In my day, never was longer.

The words do not have to be perfect.

Accountability, motherfuckers.

A Senator Walker would be an insult to the state and the nation.

I’d try pessimism, but it probably wouldn’t work.

Within six months Twitter will be fully self-driving.

Bark louder, little dog.

When your entire life is steeped in white supremacy, equality feels like discrimination.

Russian mouthpiece, go fuck yourself.

Yeah, with this crowd one never knows.

A sufficient plurality of insane, greedy people can tank any democratic system ever devised, apparently.

A Senator Walker would also be an insult to reason, rationality, and decency.

We are builders in a constant struggle with destroyers. let’s win this.

Do not shrug your shoulders and accept the normalization of untruths.

New at the Public Market.

Since that last post was all nerdy tech, here’s a little public art for an open thread.

Nice form, stepping all over your own thread.

On another note, I have booked my tickets, so I will be in La-La-Land the evenings of May 10th and 11th. I have some family that I will be catching up with most of the time, but is there any interest in doing an LA BJ meetup then?

I didn’t think Zero Dark Thirty was all that bad.

So, my girl is out of town taking care of her mother after surgery. I’m going to be sending flowers. Any suggestions on services? I’ve looked at Organic Bouquets. I like the concept of eco friendly but their selection is more limited.

The best street art I’ve ever seen is in Valparaiso Chile, where basically every surface is covered. After a few days of walking around you start getting excited to see what you might have missed on the other side of the street while you were being gobsmacked by what’s on your side.

@Eric S: I Google for a local flower shop and then call and ask them what looks good today, and negotiate with them based on what I want to spend. Takes a couple of minutes but it seems to work out well–obviously taking a leap of faith that they’re honest, but you’re not trusting FedEx or UPS, either.

I’m in Las Vegas. Went to the desert yesterday. I always find it incredibly peaceful. Family bullshit at a minimum so far. Vegas is a good eatin’ town. Don’t care about gambling, but I will be doing brunch and slots with the aged maternal unit in a while. Have been racking up karma points sitting (quietly) through Bill O’Reilly and a quadruple feature of “Lark Rise to Candleford” DVDs. Good times.
