Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

They were going to turn on one another at some point. It was inevitable.

The rest of the comments were smacking Boebert like she was a piñata.

Jack Smith: “Why did you start campaigning in the middle of my investigation?!”

The fight for our country is always worth it. ~Kamala Harris

Accountability, motherfuckers.

It’s the corruption, stupid.

“Jesus paying for the sins of everyone is an insult to those who paid for their own sins.”

Washington Post Catch and Kill, not noticeably better than the Enquirer’s.

Too often we hand the biggest microphones to the cynics and the critics who delight in declaring failure.

Republicans cannot even be trusted with their own money.

Let there be snark.

Dear Washington Post, you are the darkness now.

“What are Republicans afraid of?” Everything.

They want us to be overwhelmed and exhausted. Focus. Resist. Oppose.

Welcome to day five of every-bit-as-bad-as-you-thought-it-would-be.

JFC, are there no editors left at that goddamn rag?

“Everybody’s entitled to be an idiot.”

The real work of an opposition party is to oppose.

Their freedom requires your slavery.

If you thought you’d already seen people saying the stupidest things possible on the internet, prepare yourselves.

The words do not have to be perfect.

No offense, but this thread hasn’t been about you for quite a while.

Consistently wrong since 2002

You cannot shame the shameless.

    Another one bites the dust….

New Zealand’s parliament has legalised same-sex marriage, the first country in the Asia-Pacific region to do so.

Lawmakers approved the bill, amending the 1955 marriage act, despite opposition from Christian lobby groups.

The bill was passed with a wide majority, with 77 votes in favour and 44 against.

Hundreds of jubilant gay-rights advocates celebrated outside parliament after the bill was passed, calling it a milestone for equality.

We live in a society that can watch 20 children get their heads blown off and do nothing.

    Have a nice day.

@Mike Goetz: The worst are full of passionate intensity, while the best lack all conviction. Sullivan has a post up from a gay guy saying he’s ready to vote Republican over taxes, with a long anecdote about his welfare queen niece, livin’ high off the hog on his tax dollars.

I don’t live in AZ, but with all the publicity Jeff Flake is getting for his vote, is there some truth that we were one incredibly stupid remark away from Senator Carmona?

My brother’s family had a pointer named Levi and watching him run was such a joy.

When I would come and visit I would take Levi over to the orchards next to my brother’s place. As soon as the leash came off he would stand still, point, start a little quiver and then break out into his run and run he did.

Dear lord in heaven, sweet fancy Moses and a Great Googly Moogly. I don’t really know Savannah Guthrie’s work, but this just proves Lily Tomlin’s old adage, no matter who cynical (or in this case, contemptuous) you get, you just can’t keep up.

he president did not communicate with Jay-Z over this trip” — but of course that did not stop Today’s Savannah Guthrie from asking the president himself (in an interview taped before the Boston bombings). So here is Obama’s official comment on the Cuba controversy: “I wasn’t familiar that they were taking the trip … You know, this is not something the White House was involved with. We’ve got better things to do.”

Italicized for fairness. Even before the Boston bombings, even without gun safety and budget issues and North Korea and everything else,

There’s a Regal here in Chicago that’s extremely convenient for me and would normally be my go-to theater form mass-market movies. But my girlfriend and I recently swore it off (after Hunger Games I recall). The scene is exactly how you described, and it makes going to the movies a depressing experience.

We’re getting good data now and it’s pretty clear that the level of bitching about the AVA is inversely correlated with the quality of their product.

Jesus, some idiot reporter just asked Carney three times if there were any connection between the letters and Boston. He said three times he couldn’t comment on an on-going investigation, which seems pretty fucking elementary. Lots of idiots, apparently. I just saw one ask a mother of two kids hurt in the bombing – located in two separate Boston hospitals – how she feels.

Mom was understandably between aghast and speechless. I wouldn’t have blamed the woman for beating the fuck out of that reporter, ‘tho.
