I have fallen on hard times and am no longer able to house and take care of my two beautiful kitties, Irina and Masha. Irina and Masha are four year old sisters. They are currently living with a friend but my friend has a dog and three cats already and Irina and Masha are not adjusting well to this. They deserve to have a permanent home, hopefully together. They both have a sweet disposition and love to be loved. They would probably adjust to other pets given enough time. I’m looking for a BJ member in the Iowa City – Cedar Rapids, Iowa corridor that would be willing to give them a forever home.
The first photo is Irina in my friend’s bathroom sink. The second is Masha posing for the camera. The third [below] is Irina giving Masha a peck on the cheek.
Irina loves to curl up in the crook of your arm when you’re on the couch. Masha likes to climb and get above the action. Both like to get under the covers in bed.
I have very limited email and internet access so communicating through email is next to impossible (I had to catch a bus to the library to send this email today). I’d prefer communicating via phone with anyone who might be interested in providing Irina and Masha a home.
If you are interest or have a lead, send me an email at annelaurie (at) verizon.net — click on my name in the right-hand column — and I’ll send you Rihilism’s cell phone number.

Poor babies. Hope they find a new home soon!

Totally unable to keep pets, due to a combination of apartment living and allergies, but it always makes me sad when people like Rihilism need to give up pets due to hard times. Hope stuff improves soonest…

Good luck to Rihilism, Irina, and Masha

These beautiful kitties look like they could be Eartha Kitty’s sisters…same colors & coat patterns, right down to the terra-cotta colored noses. I’m nowhere near Iowa and don’t know how Eartha would take to new members of the household, but I sure hope they find a great home. If their dispositions are at all like my Eartha’s (very polite, shy of others but very loving with their people), they are champion cats.

I’ve got a cat-friendly college friend in the Des Moines area. Not sure if he’s up to his pet limit for his condo yet, but I’m going to forward this on to him and hope he can help. *crosses fingers*
rikyrah
I wish the best for these two beauties.

So sorry, Rihilism. I hope Irina and Masha find good homes. I even more hope something changes quickly for you and you’re able to keep your babies.

Rihilism, Very sorry that you are in this position and need to give up your pets. Last year I was in this position and had to give up my dog. One of the hardest things I’ve ever had to do. But it was best for Bud and that is most important.
Hope things get better for you, very soon. Sorry that I can’t help with the cats.
Mnemosyne
Speaking of kitties, Ms. D Ranged said yesterday that she still has not found a new home for her two Phoenix-area kitties. i was unsuccessful in convincing my mom to take them, so they are still available if someone in the Southwest is looking for cats.
ETA: Sorry to step on the bleg, but I figured that potential adopters were far enough away from one another that it shouldn’t interfere.

Honestly, one of the best things I have ever done was to take on a pair of great tabby sisters. They are great companions to each other and to me. I can’t imagine my home without them around.
Those two girls about look like they have the same love and personality as mine.

I feel much better knowing that Rescue Cats are on the job.
Just kidding. I do hope you are able to find a place for them.
I think it was Freud who said, “time spent with cats is never wasted.” True enough.
Good luck to all three of you.

Shared on my facebook. I have friends in Iowa. Good lucj, kitties.
Suzanne
@Mnemosyne: UGH. Shit. I have two cats and a dog of my own, and that is certainly enough, and now my mom’s dog and cat are also here, so I am at my limit. Actually, I am beyond my limit. But that breaks my heart.
Hugs to Rihilism.
michelle
Good luck to the kittens and I hope the owner finds better times.
Persia
@Suzanne: Yeah, the two I have are more than I can afford right now. But they’re so beautiful!
lurker dean
here’s hoping for better times for rihilism and the cute cats.
OmerosPeanut
Incredibly cute. Hope they find a permanent home!

For a non-pet owner, I have no idea. If the two are healthy (relatively), what’s the nominal cost to feed and care for two cats for roughly a year? Just a guessing range.

I live in the corridor. These two look adorable. Unfortunately I have a cat that doesn’t like other cats and a dog that doesn’t like cats, and that’s about all I can handle. But I’ll ask around.

Just beautiful photos of gorgeous girls. I am at my limit and half the country away so I am helpless, so heartbreaking.
Valdivia
SO so gorgeous. Hope your girls find a new home soon.
Micheline
I have a friend who is part of Cat Network and I posted this blog post to my friend’s wall on Facebook. I have a cat but I cannot take them in. They are really beautiful.

They are so gorgeous. I hope Rihilism has better times arrive soon and hope the kitties find a wonderful home.

I wish I lived closer (I’m in Philadelphia). Tabbies are the best! I have a brown and a red already. I hope they find homes soon. So sorry that you are in this situation and I hope it improves very soon.
VodkaGoGo
Geez, Irina looks exactly like my cat that ran away last year. If i didn’t know I’d think it was Dinzo. Too bad I’m not in Iowa, I would take them both.
Juju
Those are pretty kitties. I’m allergic to cats but I will donate to ship or help with kitty funding.
Valdivia
if they need to be transported I too will donate to do so. Hope they find a home soon!
AnderJ
VodkaGoGo seems to be willing to take them in, but for the distance. Wouldn’t paying for the trip to him/her do the trick?
ThresherK
I’m a sucker for kitteh-in-sink pix. I’m sure that’s got a lot of appeal to the target audience. Best wishes.
Michele
@VodkaGoGo:
I would help with transport fees to get them to VodkaGoGo
Maude
We need a pet fund to help BJers that are having financial trouble and are struggling to keep their pets.
We could start with the April Fool’s money and I would donate to this.
I don’t want to see anyone give up their pets.
MazeDancer
@Ann Marie:
Do not let distance deter you from having these beautiful girl kitties – and a family of four. (Yay!) Funding of long distance delivery is something that happens at BJ – and Rihilism may not realize that and is saying local folks because that’s a manageable delivery. (And may better times come to Rihilism soon
Please contact Anne Laurie if you’d like the kitties. Blegs for pet transportation can happen.
(And that’s true for anyone who lives anywhere.)

Beautiful kitties. Happy to help with transport to a new home.
Juju
@Maude: I’m with you on the pet fund. It would break my heart if I had to give up my dog, the beautiful Bizz, Isabel. I would prefer to have Rihilism be able to keep her girls, but if it won’t work out any other way I will help with travel funds.
Patricia Kayden
Any updates on this? Any need for travel funds?
The Fat Kate Middleton
Live in rural Cedar Rapids … couldn’t keep these pretty, pretty girls because of allergies in the family, but will be happy to keep them with us for a short time until someone else takes them in … and will contribute to travel costs, or to help keep them with rihilism. I think you have my email address, Betty.
The Fat Kate Middleton
Oops, meant to write Anne. But whatevs. I know you all have our email addresses

I gotta say, reading this post and the comments restores my faith in humanity. You people are the best.
Jackie
If I didn’t have a 19 yr old mama cat whom I’ve promised to not bring new “unwanted cats” into her life, I’d take them in a heartbeat. They’re beautiful and I can tell they’re so sweet… Unfortunately, Cinder is the Mama of all cats, and barely tolerates the two male underlings in my household.
But, I hope someone will be able to adopt the two together as clearly they are devoted to each other.
Jackie
p.s. Am willing to contribute what I can to help keep the two together where ever they end up.
Bubba Dave
Hey Anne Laurie– any more thought on that slush fund idea?
At any rate, I’m in for $100 toward transport/adoption/keeping with Rihilism.
Tom
@Jackie: yes…
