He has handlers on HBO. He can get away from those when he’s out on tour.
How many atheist cracks did he get in?
NotMax
Didn’t happen to mention his BFF Ms. Coulter, did he?

And he relishes his red state audiences, because they have lots on their minds ;-)
I really had no expectations when he came last year to Mayberry. He slayed ’em with ease.

Wow. 1st comment of the last 8 which didn’t go to the FYWP dimension.

@NotMax: FYWP has been a champion lately. I blame Obummer.

I remember his 2003 performance at UT Austin. First two rows got up yelling “how can you question OUR PRESIDENT!”
Stormed out yelling and Maher said “What did you think this show was going to be, a Democracy?”

@Thor Heyerdahl:
No. SATSQ.
On a more serious note, there’s so much hackery in various verticals (FSM I hate that word) and it assumes that the purveyors of said hackery actually give a shit about integrity or ethics. It’s all about the eyeballs, baybee.

@MikeJ: Oi. Stumbled across a rather intriguing spot for a future meet-up. Just keeping it in the back pocket since Psi is focusing on his LA venture right now.

Montreal is a fun city. I don’t think I could live here, but they are way nicer than the French when it comes to attitudes among French-speaking people.

@hilts: Saw the Norwegian version (with
English subtitles) last September at the Toronto Film Fest. Great film that didn’t fall for the Hollywood over-reliance on CGI (even though it was the most expensive movie ever made by Norwegian studios).

Welp, I’ve been watching some pretty good movies all evening and into the night. Just happened to stumble upon back to back goodness tonight. Never to be duplicated I bet.
Started with Pierce Brosnan as Bond in Die Another Day. Brosnan was a pretty good Bond, and a way better Bond than a singer (have ya heard him sing in Momma Mia…woof).
Next up was Under The Tuscon Sun starring Diana Lane and Italia! Love that movie, made me want to visit Italy just once when I first watched it, and even watching it now, it still makes me wanna go.
After that was Out of Africa. You can’t lose with Mery Strep and Robert Redford. Just gotta say that MAN Redford was easy on the eyes wasn’t he (not that he isn’t now, but young and in his prime…ding dong).
Lastly, I watched the original Stargate with Kurt Russell (i love Kurt Russell) and James Spsder (in is least “spader-ish” role/acting job, if ya know what I mean). Oh and of course that guy from the Crying Game movie. Would love to see a “where are they now” update on that guy.
Hmm, but alas all good things must come to an end, I gotsa go to work tomorrow, so I guess it would be a good idea to get some sleep.

@PsiFighter37: Heh. It’s so funny. I have a very unusual last name in the US, but if I go to Montréal I’m practically a Jones. I’m distantly related to a lot of Québecois. NOT, however, Celine Dion.
(That I know of.)

@PsiFighter37: Can’t go wrong with a city that has a comedy museum.
A comic from a few years ago at the Just For Laughs festival had a joke comparing if Toronto and Montreal were two men:
One would be the drunken alcoholic flirting with your wife…
and the other would be an accountant.

I am somewhat surprised that nobody put up a WHCD aka “nerdprom” thread tonight. I follow a lot of “journalism” types on Twitter, and I have to say the tweeting tonight was embarrassing. I have come to the conclusion that it is impossible to shame these lowlife scum who call themselves journalists. The village will all eventually become BuzzPoliticoPost, and I, for one, can’t say they don’t deserve it. Fuck them.

@Redshirt: @efgoldman: it’s such a movie if the week plotline cliche & maybe I’m naive, but does it really happen so often the boss’ spouse hits on an employer? Does it still counts as harassment if the Perron doing the harassment is not ur actual boss, or us the boss still liable since it could create a hostile work environment if you have to keep fending off the boss’ SO

@Brother Machine Gun of Desirable Mindfulness (fka AWS): The posting has been rather light today, even for a Saturday. I think Tunch is slacking on the quota enforcement.

@lamh35: I got really close to walking out of Mama Mia. I would never have gone if I realized it was based on Abba songs, misled by family. Pierce Brosnan should have gotten singing lessons for that, I suspect a couple of hours with a coach and he would have done a lot better.

Watched “Promised Land” tonight. Good acting, some good scenes, but movie doesn’t hold together. Too bad because you can see the potential for a good movie in there.

Ugh. Poor G was brushing his teeth to get ready for bed when work called. Broken pipe in the building, and he’s the only one who lives close enough to go check it out. So he gets to drive in to work and hang around there for who knows how long waiting for a plumber.

There are a lot of us. The Dion/Dionne/Guyenne family is the largest in Canada. At least that’s what I’ve been told.

@Temporarily Max McGee (soon enough to be Andy K again): @Omnes Omnibus: I think we discussed possibly being distant relations OO. And if there is a certain surname in your background (French for the sea) Max then more than likely we are too. And if you’re related at all to the Dionne quintuplets then we definitely are, as they are my third cousins. I really have a stronger claim to repatriate than I think, though my dad’s is stronger.

Well, big Catholic families, ya know? I have 60+ first cousins on mom’s side. My mom is #11 of 16. My mimere, Fidelis Dion, was #10 of 15. The pattern goes back to the man who took up the name, an engineer who came to Quebec City from Guyenne, who arrived shortly after Champlain.

Also, too, it was the late Bob Loblaw, who got his li’l self banned for more douchery than even this blog can handle, that turned me on to Arrested Development. Being as I’d never really watched the show when it was on TV — yet when I googled the name and saw it was a character from the series, I immediately had to watch an ep, from which point I was bloody well hooked.

Thomas Jefferson, while Vice President, controlled a network of newspapers, which he used to viciously attack President John Adams.
The Founders would be shocked by a fair non-partisan objective press, as several directly controlled the content of the media outlets in their day.

@Studly Pantload, the emotionally unavailable unicorn: Regarding Almost Live: KING ran a new show with many of the old cast tonight after SNL. It was called The 206. I missed it, idea if it was any good.
They have a web site for the group, but talk about the TV show being in the future.

@PsiFighter37: I highly recommend the restaurant L’Express on St Denis, near one of the girl cross streets (Rachel? Maryanne?). The best food. And the best atmosphere of any place I’ve ever been to in Montreal. At 8-9-10pm the place is JAMMED for dinner. Everything is exquisite, tasty, cool. Things might have changed since I lived in the city, but it didn’t have a sign on the outside….you had to know it to go to it.
If you can’t get a reservation, try going at 7, 7.30 to their tiny bar and overstaying your welcome.
