Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

There are more Russians standing up to Putin than Republicans.

Roe is not about choice. It is about freedom.

Speaker Mike Johnson is a vile traitor to the House and the Constitution.

Come on, media. you have one job. start doing it.

Usually wrong but never in doubt

Dear elected officials: Trump is temporary, dishonor is forever.

“In the future, this lab will be a museum. do not touch it.”

Republicans got rid of McCarthy. Democrats chose not to save him.

That meeting sounds like a shotgun wedding between a shitshow and a clusterfuck.

It is not hopeless, and we are not helpless.

Stamping your little feets and demanding that they see how important you are? Not working anymore.

Petty moves from a petty man.

Do not shrug your shoulders and accept the normalization of untruths.

Dear media: perhaps we ought to let Donald Trump speak for himself!

Republicans don’t want a speaker to lead them; they want a hostage.

“Perhaps I should have considered other options.” (head-desk)

I see no possible difficulties whatsoever with this fool-proof plan.

Someone should tell Republicans that violence is the last refuge of the incompetent, or possibly the first.

Take hopelessness and turn it into resilience.

A tremendous foreign policy asset… to all of our adversaries.

The fight for our country is always worth it. ~Kamala Harris

If you voted for Trump, you don’t get to speak about ethics, morals, or rule of law.

The way to stop violence is to stop manufacturing the hatred that fuels it.

This isn’t Democrats spending madly. This is government catching up.

Hilarious. I’d like to hear their version of “Boombastic,” too.

My mom was a “Sweet Adeline” fanatic in her later years. it seemed harmless and a great deal of fun for her.

Just looked at the concert schedules for the Del Mar and OC Fairs. Putrid. Indescribably putrid. One good show–the B-52s and X–in two months.

@ranchandsyrup: These young women played at the local farmer’s market and I can’t shake their music. I love a cello in rock and maybe because they lived in Hanoi I like them even more.

@raven: Really liked that. Thx for sharing. Count me in the “moar chello please” camp. I have a bunch of string quartet versions of some of my favorite music but I really appreciate GG writing music with the cello in mind.

@burnspbesq: Del Mar is exceptionally weak this year. Noticed a significant drop in booking after people started complaining about the weed smoke at a reggae concert at the track (talk about misplaced expectations). As such, they try to bring in artists that have a local connection or will provide a mellow crowd. Only Kendrick Lamar deviates from those guidelines this year.

@ranchandsyrup: It was funny, they are on tour and I don’t know how they got a gig at the market. They were pretty bleary eyed and said “this is the earliest we’ve ever played”. Here’s their “Vietnam”

So Cal seems so weird to me. His band plays these dinner joints and casino’s. We caught Love at one in Orange County before Arthur died. The idea of a dinner club with rock just blows me away. Guess I’ve lived in Athens too long.

@ranchandsyrup: yea or Orlando? They just started and had played Macon Friday night. We usually get local folky types at the market so it was fun to sit there with about 5 people and dig them. I did notice that they were turning heads after a while.

Yo, hip hop called to say ‘hi’.

More notable is the fact that all three genres are brought to us courtesy of the African American community.
