although he’s supposedly had an interview with a local paper that’s partially owned by News Corp (surprise!) and has now stated that he would like the people of Hong Kong decide his fate regarding extradition. (per LGF)

This sounds pretty good. I like Neko Case but have always liked her in the New Pornographers better than on her own. That’s probably a minority opinion. Maybe I’ve just heard the wrong albums but she doesn’t seem to rock out like this much solo – whereas with the New Pornos she’s more likely to.

I just love that no one seems to want to focus on how 70% of taxpayer money allocated for INTEL goes to private contractors, and that Booz Allen’s entire business model is government contracting, and is owned by the Carlyle Group which the Bush family holds large interests in, and so did (and probably still does) the bin Laden family. What a sweet deal – create a need for “security”, then provide the intel for security! Profit!

@the Conster: The amount of government funds that are funneled into private corporations via contracts is what makes GOP screeching about the evil job killing fedrul gubbermint extra hilarious. But of course the Republicans aren’t yet so far gone that they’ll admit they only hate the idea of the pwecious businesses being subjected to regulations and audits and other mean nasty stuff.

@the Conster: I’d love to talk about that as a federal worker. I can’t believe how much money Snow was making at Booze Allen. He’d be like a GS 5 as a Federal employee with his credentials. It’s like that across the board – the contractor costs more than the fed. And the guys who manage the contracts make less than the guys they’re managing. Not sure how that reduces the deficit but then we know they don’t really care about that.
