Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

Anyone who bans teaching American history has no right to shape America’s future.

Pessimism assures that nothing of any importance will change.

Republicans in disarray!

When I decide to be condescending, you won’t have to dream up a fantasy about it.

Let’s delete this post and never speak of this again.

Accountability, motherfuckers.

We’ve had enough carrots to last a lifetime. break out the sticks.

I really should read my own blog.

A democracy can’t function when people can’t distinguish facts from lies.

We still have time to mess this up!

When your entire life is steeped in white supremacy, equality feels like discrimination.

Let me eat cake. The rest of you could stand to lose some weight, frankly.

Roe isn’t about choice, it’s about freedom.

A dilettante blog from the great progressive state of West Virginia.

Authoritarian republicans are opposed to freedom for the rest of us.

That’s my take and I am available for criticism at this time.

The GOP couldn’t organize an orgy in a whorehouse with a fist full of 50s.

Just because you believe it, that doesn’t make it true.

I did not have telepathic declassification on my 2022 bingo card.

Give the craziest people you know everything they want and hope they don’t ask for more? Great plan.

REPOST: Cat Rescue Bleg – Charlotte, NC

From commentor Jacquie:

I’m a frequent reader (but I seldom post), so when I came into guardianship of a sweet little black kitty who refuses to get along with my older guy, I thought of y’all (I’m trying to learn to live in the South). I’m in Charlotte, NC.

One of my roller derby team teammates found Mochi and couldn’t keep her so I took her. Gweedo, my older cat, has lived with other kitties but now he’s terrified of her. I’ve been keeping her isolated, I’ve stacked baby gates so they could see each other and that seems ok, but when she escapes she charges him aggressively and he retreats in terror. I was hoping being spayed would help, but it doesn’t seem to have made much difference.

I’ve had her spayed and immunized, now I just need to find her a home where she can be an only kitty.

She’s super sweet, purrs and kneads all the time when it’s just her and you. She likes to cuddle and is ok with being picked up and carried. She’s very social, but wants to be the only one in your affections. And she’s a talker.

None of the pictures do her justice: she’s got gorgeous brown undertones to her black and the greenest eyes.

If you are interested, or know someone who might be, email me at AnneLaurie at verizon.net (or click on my name under ‘Contact’ in the right-hand column) and I’ll send you Jacquie’s contact info.

I am here in Greensboro, but I have two lovely kitties already. I will ask around to see if I can find a pet parent for her.

I saw this the other day and hoped the kitty would find a forever home by now. She is such a cutie.

Sorry that my location and current cat conditions don’t allow me to take her.

Bianca haz a jelus if she sees another kitteh getting my attention. I saw her make this quite clear to one of the neighbours’ cats. Besides, wrong side of planet etc. etc.

@Amir Khalid: Is Bianca a white kitteh? You should post her photo sometime.

It sounds like you really need to talk to the guy who counsels cat owners on Animal Planet’s “My Cat From Hell”

“Follow Jackson Galaxy Saturdays at 8 p.m. on My Cat from Hell on Animal Planet as he brings his unique understanding of spastic cats to desperate families.”

Check out the link. You might find something to help you before you have to give Mochi up.

    @schrodinger’s cat:
Bianca is a black kitteh, with a wee splash of white at the throat. I haven’t taken her picture because compared to my camera skills, John Cole is like Anton Corbijn.

Similar situation here. Recently took in a teen-aged cat that could be Mochi’s twin sister (‘cept standard cat-yellow eyes) whose previous owner had to move into assisted living (= no pets). Young cat can’t figure out that old cat (est. age 12-14, also black DSH) just isn’t interested in rough’n’tumble kitten play any more, so her hallway ambushes finish with a chase, hisses, and growls (and, often, a few rounds of mutual face slapping).

But, they’re working it out at their own pace. They’re already willing to sleep *almost* touching on “their” side of the bed, and trips to the litter box are much less dramatic than formerly. I figure they’ll come to an accommodation eventually.
