Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

Compromise? There is no middle ground between a firefighter and an arsonist.

We do not need to pander to people who do not like what we stand for.

Come on, media. you have one job. start doing it.

Trump’s cabinet: like a magic 8 ball that only gives wrong answers.

When you’re in more danger from the IDF than from Russian shelling, that’s really bad.

This has so much WTF written all over it that it is hard to comprehend.

Republicans: “Abortion is murder but you can take a bus to get one.” Easy peasy.

Whatever happens next week, the fight doesn’t end.

Following reporting rules is only for the little people, apparently.

Trump should be leading, not lying.

Black Jesus loves a paper trail.

Text STOP to opt out of updates on war plans.

When do we start airlifting the women and children out of Texas?

You don’t get rid of your umbrella while it’s still raining.

Hi god, it’s us. Thanks a heap, you’re having a great week and it’s only Thursday!

I’d like to think you all would remain faithful to me if i ever tried to have some of you killed.

People are complicated. Love is not.

The arc of history bends toward the same old fuckery.

The republican ‘Pastor’ of the House is an odious authoritarian little creep.

T R E 4 5 O N

“In the future, this lab will be a museum. do not touch it.”

The most dangerous place for a black man in America is in a white man’s imagination.

Disagreements are healthy; personal attacks are not.

The line between political reporting and fan fiction continues to blur.

She has an error in the her opening text (second page):

In this decision, the Supreme Court (in a 5-4 decision) ruled that the federal Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) was unconstitutional.

It was only section 3 that was ruled unconstitutional.

My reaction was that I should probably finally use my theology degree and go get myself ordained by a church and start advertising as a wedding minister for hire, so I can start getting some of that disposable income that everyone says gays have.

Although it isn’t vital to the survey, I wish they had described the decision a little more accurately. They correctly describe the effect of the decision- the feds will now recognize same sex marriages- but it would have been better if they said that the decision had invalidated part of DOMA rather than saying that it invalidated DOMA.

Done. My main responses were “Of course it doesn’t affect me (as a hetero) at all, why would anyone think it would?” and “About damn time!”.

Equal rights for all to love and marry if they choose to do so.

I remember back in the 60’s – 70’s there was quite a ‘just a piece of paper’ movement about marriage. Once my husband and I started traveling and once were refused a room in a hotel because we weren’t married (yet); then later when we got pregnant? that piece of paper became muy importante. We figured, ‘what the fuck, why not? ‘ and went down to the county courthouse and got married. It made traveling and having a baby in Amsterdam much easier.

We lasted 40+ years before he died. I wish everyone the chance to make the choice for themselves, regardless of sexual orientation.
