Some people have reported malware warnings in my Fifty shades thread. Are you getting that? Due to iPad blogging from the road I can not check much of anything. Also no categories for my posts, because a check button is apparently too complicated for WordPress and iOS to work out between themselves.
Also, here is a pic of a spider that I took a few weeks ago. Panasonic GH2 with an OM 50mm/1.8 on macro tubes, a LED ring light and a radio-slaved manual flash with a diffuser in my left hand. 1/160 s. at f/11.
Chat about whatever.

The site is fine in Chrome and Firefox for me.

I’m getting malware warnings with Firefox on every comment page. “www.balloon-juice.com/2013” is the reported bad URL.
The Dangerman
Working fine in Chrome for me.

I’m getting malware warnings on every thread with Chrome (Mac) but not on Safari (Mac)

I got the malware warning once on Chrome.

And I’ve retried the site with a cleared cache and no AdBlock running – and it’s still fine in both Chrome and Firefox.

I have no warnings on IE and we run virus and malware protection all the time.

I’m getting nothing on IE10 on my Surface Pro, with Norton AV.
No problems with Chrome from the desktop either.
Violet
Yes, I got the warning. Firefox and AVG. I got it once several days ago. Haven’t had it since. I figured it was an ad that was the problem since when I refreshed I didn’t get it. Maybe AVG took care of it?

Seems to come and go — I’ll bet it’s the result of an ad that comes in at random.

Malware warning on Chrome any time I try to access the comments for any post. IE is fine. (that’s how I’m submitting this)

New frontiers in Firebagging have been opened.
The Other Chuck
It’s a Chrome and Firefox thing, not an AV thing. Anything not running the google stopbadware.org blacklist isn’t going to see it. A site owner can get a more detailed report that includes the specific URLs identified with malware and determine whether it’s an ad and which one.
geg6
I got it on my work computer using Firefox. So many, in fact, that I called the IT guy and he ran a scan. He said malicious software had tried to download but was stopped by our malware protection. Had my computer running horribly for awhile but that cleared up after the scan.
? Martin
Safari now throwing the warning for me.
The Dangerman
I spoke too soon; warnings on THIS thread now in Chrome.
different-church-lady
Again guessing: if it’s an ad causing the problem, then try reloading the page and you might get through if the problem ad isn’t included in that load.
Botsplainer
Hey, do any of you have experience with pet insurance? Companies that are easy to deal with? Companies that suck?
I’m thinking it might be an OK investment, counting out the years of this puppy’s life.

All comments are getting the malware message on Chrome. IE10 is loading things fine, though it did ask to update Java SE.
A Ghost To Most
I take that back; chrome on the desktop won’t load the page (it says the website contains malware).

What the hell do you do that you can have so many adventures that poor shlubs like me can only dream of? And yes. Yes I’m jealous.
Sister Rail Gun of Warm Humanitarianism
I’m certain it’s the result of an ad, but Firefox for Android won’t let me into the individual posts at all. Firefox for Android uses Google’s SafeBrowsing database, and Scout211 has copied and pasted the GSB results.

Sudden thought O/T about computer talk, but………
If Zimmerman was unarmed he would never have pursued TM, despite admonitions from trained 911/311 staff to stand down.
Zimmerman is an inadequate man who needs a gun to feel something more about himself than he is, ever has been, or will ever be.
This makes me angry and despise the “Stand Your Ground NRA Buy More Guns!” racket.

Well, it could be a script from any one of 9 different domains that a page on this site runs.
I’ll leave it to better web detectives to puzzle this one out.

I’m getting the Malware Warning. Chrome Version 28.0.1500.71 on MacOS 10.7.5.
Question: Can you recommend a beginner’s lens for insect and spider (and really, anything small and in Antropoda) photography? I’ve taken bee photos on my EF 24-105mm auto-stabling lens, but it wasn’t ideal. How’s your OM 50mm/1.8? Think a beginner could handle it?
geg6
@Botsplainer:
No experience myself but my friend got it after she had a huge vet bill after her dog got hit by a car (just a broken leg, thankfully). I have no idea what company but she said it was more affordable than paying for another surgery and pins and…well, you know how it goes.
Sister Rail Gun of Warm Humanitarianism
Crap, can’t edit. In short, the Google spiders hit a malware-laden ad while crawling the site today and has put the entire /2013/ directory on the malware list. The site owner will have to request a recrawl after tracking down which ad and arranging to block either that ad or the ad provider.

@Amir Khalid: Yep. They already use Google Analytics, so they’ll have a webmaster account. The webmaster has to clean up whatever the issue is, submit a request to Google, and wait. Google is usually pretty good about a quick turnaround on these sorts of requests. Then it’s just a matter of the updated information propagating.

Haven’t gotten any malware warnings using Firefox on Windows, Linux, or OS X (first 2 at work, last at home).
More importantly that is a sweet shot Tim!
Also, thanks for posting the shooting info…as one of the photobugs here, I really appreciate it. I’ve never been much of a macro shooter, but I can definitely appreciate an incredible shot. I guess that ring flash is a must to really make macro photos pop.
As I continue my photography learning experience, a little over a year in, I’ve finally outgrown the two lenses that came with my DSLR, and my first Canon L-series lens (24-105 f/4) is due to arrive tomorrow…I can’t tell you how excited I am.
Taking pretty pictures really is fun.

@RareSanity: I just bought a Nifty Fifty fixed lens for my T3

@Botsplainer: Read the policy closely. Some offer limited coverage and high deductibles. I’ve always had at least one dog that i live with and medical costs never seem to be higher than the monthly payments. Really depends on dog, lifestyle, luck. @Botsplainer:
I signed on for the Banfield Pet Hospital wellness plan for both the puppy (Flossie) and the new adoptee (Skeeter), the puppy plan includes spay/neuter surgery as well as all shots and unlimited vet visits. Because Skeeter was already one year old they let me sign him up for a modified adult plan which includes his neuter surgery and all shots and unlimited vet visits. Flossies plan is $33.00 a month, Skeeter’s is $29.00 a month with a small supplement for the surgery. I am quite happy to pay the money after my memory of Judy being bitten by a copperhead one weekend which required a costly $500 trip to the emergency vet and when we got back home to find out that Lucky had been bitten by the same damn copperhead which required another $500.00 trip to the emergency vet which meant I couldn’t pay any of my bills that month and put us in a world of hurt. Banfield is open seven days a week so there is no need to go to the vet equivalent of the ER. I can absorb $60.00 a month into my budget quite easily, $1,000 in one fell swoop will kill me financially.

Getting warnings on all comments pages (Mac on Firefox) and weird font and spacing on Safari. I’ve never had these problems in years on the site.

Posting from phone because can’t view any individual post pages in FF. Gives me the unsafe site notice. I think comments will be few until this is fixed because most people can’t see the posts.

Some quick mental math has me guessing at 5-6 thousand over a lifetime – if that includes shots, neutering, wellness and dental, it can be a good deal.
Still may want to breed the tyke.
I’ll call the vet tomorrow – the insurance brochure was missing from his “new puppy packet” when I took him in for boosters today; I’ll ask which one he works with most frequently.

I’ve got one of those too. :-)
I’ve been trying to like it but for me, on a crop sensor camera it just occupies that space where I find it’s either not wide enough, or not long enough for what I may be trying to shoot.
But it is fast and sharp, that’s for sure. I wish I could use it more. Probably speaks more to me not being creative in using it though. For a prime, I think I would be happier with either a 35mm or a 85mm.

I’m getting a scary red screen that turns into a Firefox Website Warning and then into some chingadera called StopBadware.
Just to be safe, I shut down the browser and ran MalwareBytesAntiMalware (MBAM) with no malware reported.
Just now I refreshed the main page (just to see if I was hallucinating) and it comes up text only. Weird.
eta: I run NoScript, AdBlockPlus, Avast antivirus and numerous other things, so I think this is just some weird aberration?

Just got on IE 10 to test the site, and everything works fine. However, I hate Internet Explorer so I will just wait this out until Firefox 22.0 starts working again.
Oh hell, maybe I’ll try Chrome. I keep it updated but never use it. I’m just an FF junkie! I have it configured just how I like it and you’ll pry FF out of my cold dead hands.
Disconcerting to see this site go all sideways, however.
P.S. Sorry for the duplicate comments, no idea WTF happened. FYWP, I guess. Plus the malbugs.

Holder: After Trayvon’s Death, I Talked With My Teen Son About The ‘World He Must Confront’
PERRY STEIN 5:17 PM EDT, TUESDAY JULY 16, 2013
Eric Holder, the country’s first African-American attorney general, talked about the killing of Trayvon Martin in personal terms Tuesday, telling an audience at the NAACP 2013 Convention how the shooting prompted him to have a conservation with his 15-year-old son about race.
“Trayvon’s death last spring caused me to sit down to have a conversation with my own 15-year-old son, like my dad did with me. This was a father-son tradition I hoped would not need to be handed down,” Holder said. “But as a father who loves his son and who is more knowing in the ways of the world, I had to do this to protect my boy. I am his father and it is my responsibility, not to burden him with the baggage of eras long gone, but to make him aware of the world he must still confront. This is a sad reality in a nation that is changing for the better in so many ways.”
Holder also said the death of Trayvon Martin reminded him of experiences he had as a young man of being pulled over and having his car searched twice on the New Jersey Turnpike for no apparent reason. More recently, when he was a federal prosecutor, he was stopped by a police officer while going to a movie at night in Georgetown in D.C

For me the most important thing is that Banfield is open 7 days a week, most vets are not, and no matter what insurance plan you have if you can’t access your vet 7 days a week it is going to cost you a fortune for the ER vet care.
