Remember that long time ago when I asked people to ‘ping’ their GOP Senators for basic facts about the Affordable Care Act? Of course you don’t. Here’s the link. The basic idea was to call as many GOP Reps and Senators as possible with basic questions about the Affordable Care act, questions like ‘I cannot get individual coverage for any price due to pre-existing conditions. Can I start buying care when the ACA kicks in in October?’. Some of these guys have talked about sabotaging the gears of the ACA even at the individual constituent level and I want to see whether anyone has the balls to pull it off.
Do you have a GOP Rep? Did you try phoning in? Use this thread to report any results or let us know that you plan to try it for yourself. If you don’t have GOP representation at any level, it will still help to find out what quality of information local offices are giving out to constituents who call in. Find the ‘real’ answers to most common questions at the excellent Kaiser Family Foundation FAQ here.
Needless to say if a GOP Rep is caught misleading his or her own constituents at the expense of their health and well being, that could have counter-indicated adverse side effects on their re-election.

I live in a sane state. No GOP rep, no GOP senators.

California has some GOP representatives, but my district is rep’ed by a democrat who is one of the most liberal members of the entire Congress, let alone the California delegation. So I know where he stands with this.
aimai
Ahhhh. Massachuesetts. I only wish I could call up and harrass a republican rep.
No, wait, I don’t.
Tom Levenson
@aimai: Me too.
Senators Warren and Markey and Rep. Kennedy know what I want.

@aimai: I always feel kind of useless at times like this as my Senators are Gillibrand & Schumer & my rep is a Democrat. Still, I’m very glad to have them rather than otherwise.
Just Some Fuckhead
I called Rigell’s office and they sold me a used car.

I kinda want to troll Doc Hastings’ office but I might just get an answer since he lives and dies off constituent services. That and Hanford pork.

@Tom Levenson:
You’re welcome to talk to my rep, Cory Gardner, my conversations with him have been disheartening.

I suppose I could call someone over in Virginia, but the 301 area code might be a tell….

“Do you have a GOP Rep?”
Thanks be to God, no. I live in the very blue state of Maryland.

Warren, Markey and Tsongas. 3 for 3. Gotta love the Commonwealth (FSM save it!)

Actually, there needs to be a well organized, national campaign to monitor the veracity of the information that these turds are providing to their constituents. If they are giving out misleading or false information, then formal complaints should be made and all legal remedies should be sought.

Which he got from Darrell Issa, who assured him that the title was clean. Well, “clean” in the sense that there were no burn marks on it.
Warren, Markey, and Nicola Tsongas, thank FSM.

This is such a great idea, though I too am full up on real democrats.
It is such a great idea, that it seems like something a PAC should be doing, and then publicizing the results. Think of the extra publicity for the good things ACA is doing for people, and especially the publicity of how rethugs are flat-out lying to their constituents. I suppose OFA isn’t the proper PAC to do this (too close to the President to result in the shit storm from the usual suspects), but perhaps democratic money needs to create one to do this? I’d be in for that.
bo - yeh, that one
@Jeff R.:
Fattman!
Dah, dah, dah, dadah!
Fattman!
Dah, dah, dah, dadah! …
Bif! BANG! Pow!
good riddance.

It sounds like fun, but like the MA folks, I don’t have anyone to try tripping up: Boxer, Feinstein and Linda Sanchez,

Yeah, as if DiFi is an actual Demoncrat, right.
What’s next – you got a Bridge you want to unload, runs between Brooklyn and Manhattan, we could get all the toll money?
JR in WV
Well, Jay Rockefeller and Joe Manchin and Nick Rahall here. Shelly Moore Capito is in the district one county north… maybe I could call her office?
But I agree that there should be a nationwide effort to discover lying Republican office-holders!
Will a Venn diagram of Republican office-holders and lying Republican office-holders be a perfect circle, or just nearly? … my money is on perfect!

@Just Some Fuckhead: Funnny, I called Darryl Issa and he stole my car.

Tim,
I do have a Rep Rep. Not Bachmann thank the FSM, but Kline, who 10 years seemed extreme and now seems quaint. But the prob is that it’s now Friday night and no one is gonna be answering the phone. Could we redo this thread on Monday, and I promise to call.

Sorry to say that calling anybody in the Mississippi legislature is going to be a waste of time. In fact, I gave up on the idea that health care would be fixed anytime in my lifetime (I’m 55). My wife and I now live in Germany. As “luck” would have it, two years after arriving here my wife was diagnosed with cancer. She received treatments at the best lung clinic in Germany. Treatment that we priced out in the US at 440,000. She was already ineligible for coverage in the US, having had uterine cancer in her twenties. The treatments were not effective however and she is now on palliative care, having refused further (debilitating chemo/rad treatments). She will die sooner than later, but in the meantime she is still up and running with the help of pain specialists who aren’t afraid they’ll go to jail for ‘overprescribing’ pain meds to a dying patient. When the end finally comes, it will be on her terms. We have arranged euthanasia in nearby Holland where it is legal. I’d like to think the US could “straighten up it’s act”, and perhaps in the long, long course of time it will, but in the meantime I’m staying as far away from “home” as is humanly possible. Enjoy.

Good idea, but I don’t have a repub rep or senator.
