Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

I might just take the rest of the day off and do even more nothing than usual.

Tick tock motherfuckers!

One lie, alone, tears the fabric of reality.

It’s a good piece. click on over. but then come back!!

“Perhaps I should have considered other options.” (head-desk)

He really is that stupid.

A thin legal pretext to veneer over their personal religious and political desires.

Never give a known liar the benefit of the doubt.

You know it’s bad when the Project 2025 people have to create training videos on “How To Be Normal”.

Fuck these fucking interesting times.

That’s my take and I am available for criticism at this time.

We will not go back.

They fucked up the fucking up of the fuckup!

The snowflake in chief appeared visibly frustrated when questioned by a reporter about egg prices.

This really is a full service blog.

Accused of treason; bitches about the ratings. I am in awe.

Damn right I heard that as a threat.

I desperately hope that, yet again, i am wrong.

One way or another, he’s a liar.

Just because you believe it, that does not make it true.

We’re watching the self-immolation of the leading world power on a level unprecedented in human history.

“Loving your country does not mean lying about its history.”

American history and black history cannot be separated.

I’m a lot more sympathetic to John McCain than many around here, but why do all these fuckers have to qualify decent, human, laudable sentiments with “but I’m not a bleeding heart liberal”:

“Oh, I think they’re terrible. But the consequences for the country are worse. Are we going to sit around — 11 million people? Do you know how some of these people are exploited? You know, pick up a guy on the corner and have him work all day, and then say, ‘To heck with you, I’m not paying you. Call the cops if you don’t like it.’ I mean, they have no protections of our law and our society. I’m no bleeding-heart liberal; you know that. But, my god, we need to resolve this issue.” — John McCain

McCain is completely right about the plight of undocumented workers, and good on him on for saying this. Maybe it’s time to admit that, at this juncture, having any kind of compassion for other makes you a bleeding-heart liberal.

I think if McCain could get over his grandiose delusions and bitterness and mercurial temperament, he might be a decent Republican, not a Rockefeller Republican, not even a Dick Lugar Republican, but a Bob Dole Republican, as in, frequently not a dick. He would also require some kind of massive epiphany to make him realize that he is not, in fact, a foreign policy sage. Also, too, he needs to apologize to the country for Palin. So, as things stand, I don’t have much sympathy for him.

John McCain is nothing close to a bleeding heart liberal. Hell, the fact that he’s considered somewhat of a moderate in the current GOP should tell you how whacked out the GOP is. John McCain knows that that he’s more than likely going to have a tough race in 2016 and especially more so if he doesn’t do something for the Hispanics in AZ.

John McCain gave us Sarah Palin. John McCain can eat a bag of salted dicks. Whatever source of humor that can be sourced from her does not obscure the fact that John McCain put a willfully ignorant nitwit in a position to be a heart attack away from assuming the Oval Office. If it were up to me, he’d be tossed in a sack, the sack would then be thrown into a river, and then the river would be hurled into space. Either that or be put in front of one of Sarah Palin’s fictional Death Panels.

You know what? Scratch that. John McCain can eat two bags of salted dicks.

McCain might express the bleeding-heart-liberal sentiment, but will he actually do anything to fix the situation? Hell, no. And I guarantee you that if there are any Hispanics at his wife’s beer distributorship they are overworked, underpaid and probably treated like shit. (If not denied employment in the first place.)

I think it’s just an incarnation of Cleek’s Law. McCain can’t say he’s concerned about illegals being exploited full stop because that’s a liberal view of the situation. Which he definitionally opposes!!! So he’s talking about a different kind of compassion. Conservative compassion. Which is, obviously, the opposite of liberal compassion.

A couple more quotes from The Prisoner:

Number Six: Elections? In this place?
Number Two: Of course – we make our choice every 12 months. Every citizen has a choice. Are you going to run?
Number Six: Like blazes, the first chance I get.
Number Two: I meant run for office.
    Number Six: Whose?
    Number Two: Mine, for instance.
Number Six: You have a very delicate sense of humor.
Number Two: Naturally. Humor is the very essence of a democratic society.

Number Six: I have a choice?
Number Two: Of course. You can do as you want.
Number Six: As long as it’s what you want.
Number Two: As long as it is what the majority wants. We’re democratic. In some ways.

@efgoldman: The guy who ran against Flake came pretty damn close and he was an electoral political newbie. AZ has the second largest Mormon population after Utah. Flakes a mormon and Mitt was a mormon. I really think that is what put Flake over the finish line. Also the Hispanic population is only going to be higher in ’16 and my guess is that the white population is going to be less.

AZ has the second largest Mormon population after Utah.,

    Commonly repeated, but not so.

In gross Mormon membership numbers, the order is:

    Utah
    Idaho
    Arizona

    In percentage of population who are or claim to be Mormon, the order is;

    Utah
    Idaho
    Wyoming
    Nevada
    Arizona

@efgoldman: The Non-bleeding heart answer is you’ll need ever more cheap Hispanics in AZ to support continued Old Person growth. If immigration – both legal and illegal – is restricted, well, those lawns aren’t going to leaf blow themselves. Whole condo associations could collapse in unmanicured anarchy.

Tacit acknowledgment that empathy is liberal. They point out how it is so very odd for them to have those qualities, seeing as how they aren’t DFH’s. They don’t interpret it that way of course. They think they are speaking highly of themselves and not telling us something fundamental about people who aren’t liberals.

@efgoldman: at the rate that the old folks are moving to AZ they’re also dying off in our “dry heat” at roughly the same rate. Whereas the youngsters in the state are an indication that AZ is growing more and more hispanic (despite SB 1070, which nobody is enforcing because it’s fucking ludicrous). Carmona made a good run at Flake but Jeff had the advantage of the East Valley Mormon Mafia and the fact that he hadn’t done anything egregious except partake in a couple of trip junkets, which are perfectly acceptable if you’re not an Blah President. Since that time, Flake has reneged on the Gun Safety pledge (not as big a winner here in AZ since we passed a state handgun designation instead of a large clip restriction post the Giffords assassination attempt, hey it’s AZ) but has also had his son get some unwelcome attention due to his hate speech debacle online (kids these days). Johnny Maverick was lucky in that they had a R plant running against him last time and his kabuki regarding Immigration reform is just that. Remember, four years ago, it was “build the damn fence” now that we’ve essentially trapped 11M people in the country, he now starts to wonder wtf are we going to do with them. Before the “damn fence”, many of those people moved with the seasons picking up agricultural or construction work before returning home, guess what, now they can’t. Does it mean that it’s still not a problem, no, it’s just that his histrionics and political posturing made it worse. Unfortunately that was the seat that Giffords was supposedly aspiring to before Loughner brought that part of her career to an end, Goddard was unable to unseat Cactus Barbie despite her showing that she shouldn’t be allowed a ten key much less the Governor’s chair, so it’s unknown who would step up, Carmona again? Napolitano? Goddard? it’s hard to say and who knows what the future will bring but AZ is trending blue, slowly but surely as the GOTV is hard at work in the hispanic communities (thanks Sheriff Joe!) and out on the Rez, as the boots on the ground are trying to bring political activism to the Nations (and they sure as hell could use it, no jobs and no power and no voice).

The ideological acceptability patrol has to ever make sure [to intervene in case] someone veers too far from moderated humanity to dangerous and radically transformative levels of decency.

If you’re somewhat human to those currently exploitable non-documented working population, why, how are we to know that your next step isn’t to appropriate all the 2nd vacation houses of the rich and give them away?

Likewise, if you oppose some military intervention you need to shout I’M NOT SOME KIND OF PACIFIST as though we’re ever on the edge of surrendering to Hitler’s forces waiting offshore, because our nation has sooooooo frequently fallen into the trap of total pacifism.

We must ensure to maintain strict and harshly patrolled borders between the minimally acceptable levels of humanity entering into our political discourse and the presumed next step into free love libertinism and pacifist soshullist Hugo Chavezism or whatever.
