I teared up. Don’t know what the ad is for, however.

Perhaps it should be added (to ease the consciences of the dudgeon-prone) that Carl is openly gay. So he’s not, y’know, inappropriately appropriating another subcultures experience, in case any knickers were knotting…

Don’t like Carl’s ad. Makes tea party types seem like reasonable people.
It’s for a cell phone? Isn’t it a campaign ad for the son?

Earlier today after watching Carl’s ad on the Washington Post Politics page, I googled it and several news sites picked it up. He’ll certainly raise enough money to compete.
@Tommy: Paying it forward is so socialistic. Now I have to find a hanky.

@Tommy: That ad made me cry by 1:42. I loved it and the Chipotle game ad.
@JPL: LOL. My parents are hardcore Republicans. I am not. They always even if it wasn’t a term, to play things forward. My mom and dad do it almost everyday. I try when I can. Funny, it is such a good thing. Most times good things come back to me ….
No, I misunderstood and thought he was talking about the ad in the original post.

I want to vote for Carl for Congress. Best political ad I’ve seen.
ETA: Damn, I used to live in his district! I would have loved to vote for him.
Don’t let me down 5th district!!

@gogol’s wife: I think the cell phone ad is the longer ad involving charity. Although I don’t see the connection to cell phones there. But it is a good ad about being charitable. (RWNJ in the US would hate the ad and the story.)
@Roger Moore: exactly. All day I have had to put up with people showing that ad and letting everybody know that health care should be taken care of with voluntary charitable giving. Damn. Ruined the ad for me.
Really well done and nice camera work and cute music. Mostly great because it’s simply about those two people and no other distractions.

George Takei was promoting the cell phone ad on his face book page. Someone else linked to this ad. It’s for a bank, but will still raise the dust in the room.

@Tommy: Thank you for the link. That was beautiful.
And @DougJ – thanks, that was a perfect ad. Wish more campaign ads were that thoughtful and…civil.

I feel predictable today. (I’ll feel mysterious tomorrow.) Smiled at the political commercial, cried on cue for the Thai commercial.
Man, Thai advertising specializes in squeezing out tears in the most obvious but effective way. A compilation.

@Tommy: I posted that on FB, watched it 3and times, just eatched it again, and blubber like a baby every time. It is a great ad.

@gogol’s wife: Naw, it’s real. My dad and brother are wingnuts, and I disagree with them on everything political (except they’re cool with gay people), but I love them unconditionally.
Tea Partiers are misguided, no doubt, but they aren’t all morons.

Damn clever. Nice to see something new, because it’s bloody rare.
But I want demon sheep!

I expect to find his dad floating lifeless in Boston Harbor within a week…or at least completely disavowed

I love it. So different. I hope Carl gets elected.

Awesome ad. Hope he wins. Maybe I’ll throw a sheckel or two his way to help him along.l

I am an advertising guy. Best ad I’ve seen this week.

For a cell phone. I hate ads and I am an ad guy, but that is a good ad. As I said, wish I made it.

@Baud:
I like the ad, but I don’t believe that person is really a Tea Party person. He seems too intelligent and ironic. He’s shamming . . . .

@Tommy: LOL! Were you in on that? If so, were you in on this one too?
If so, bravo!
Tommy
@Ash Can: Nope. Been about a decade since I did any ads you might see. I don’t do that anymore, but I do still like good “creative.”

It’s such a predictable response. Anything but government healthcare, at least for the under-65 set.
