Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

You can’t attract Republican voters. You can only out organize them.

This isn’t Democrats spending madly. This is government catching up.

It’s always darkest before the other shoe drops.

fuckem (in honor of the late great efgoldman)

Every reporter and pundit should have to declare if they ever vacationed with a billionaire.

Fuck these fucking interesting times.

When you’re a Republican, they let you do it.

“Just close your eyes and kiss the girl and go where the tilt-a-whirl takes you.” ~OzarkHillbilly

Jack be nimble, jack be quick, hurry up and indict this prick.

Their freedom requires your slavery.

Give the craziest people you know everything they want and hope they don’t ask for more? Great plan.

Republicans: The threats are dire, but my tickets are non-refundable!

If America since Jan 2025 hasn’t broken your heart, you haven’t loved her enough.

Putin must be throwing ketchup at the walls.

You’re just a puppy masquerading as an old coot.

The fight for our country is always worth it. ~Kamala Harris

Lick the third rail, it tastes like chocolate!

Too often we confuse noise with substance. too often we confuse setbacks with defeat.

Dumb motherfuckers cannot understand a consequence that most 4 year olds have fully sorted out.

The media handbook says “controversial” is the most negative description that can be used for a Republican.

The republican speaker is a slippery little devil.

Hey hey, RFK, how many kids did you kill today?

if you can’t see it, then you are useless in the fight to stop it.

If you thought you’d already seen people saying the stupidest things possible on the internet, prepare yourselves.

    Yeah, but:

At the National Institutes of Health, nearly three-quarters of the staff was furloughed. One result: director Francis Collins said about 200 patients who otherwise would be admitted to the NIH Clinical Center into clinical trials each week will be turned away. This includes about 30 children, most of them cancer patients, he said.

I’m back and this is where I will be for the foreseeable future until the damn dirty apes or the Tea Party takes over … not that we’ll be able to tell the difference.

But I recall that in “Planet of the Apes”, the apes actually believed in science and having a functioning government.

TBogg will have a lot of material. Maybe he just couldn’t resist

‘ Some House Republicans are deeply frustrated with what they see as a self-defeating strategy, but even they are holding the line. Rep. Devin Nunes (R-CA) told reporters that a “clean” CR, or a bill that would fund government at current levels, never came up in the GOP meeting Tuesday. “We’ve come this far,” said the congressman, who famously called his conservative colleagues “lemmings” on Monday. “Now we have to stick with the Ted Cruz-lemmings strategy.” ‘

    Was wondering about this:

    Ross Feinstein ‏@RossFeinstein 2h

My @TSA colleagues at more than 450 airports are currently working without pay. Please remember that when you go through a checkpoint today.

I guess the TSA isn’t important enough to the Republicans to get its own funding bill, like the Honoring our Promise to America’s Veterans Act, Open Our Nation Parks and Museums Act, DC funding Act. I guess since they’re forcing them to work without pay, it’s all good in the Republican neighborhood.

    ::headdesk:: ::headdesk:: ::headdesk::

What the FUCK is the matter with these people? What FUCKING planet are they from?

Yeah, they’ve come this far. They’ve inched way out on the tree limb and are sawing away madly — between themselves and the fucking tree. What the supposedly more sensible reps such as Nunes need to do is to close ranks and all stage a fucking intervention with Boehner, telling him to either cut the strings his Teahadi puppetmasters are holding and start getting shit done, or take a real good look at their asses as they walk out the door to go throw in with the Dems to do it themselves. But no — they just say, “Oh well, we’re lemmings too, ha ha ha.”

It’s a good thing I have a crappy head cold and don’t feel like drinking, otherwise I would have gotten shitfaced for breakfast.

Tbogg? The name seems familiar. Didn’t he used to blog under the name “Joan Galt” or something like that? And he’s big into wicked expensive, whiz-bangy kitchen gadgets like the Thermonukes? Big into bassinets? That guy?

I am SO glad he’s back. Maybe the Shutdown was worth it, after all.

[Whaddaya mean, “there’s no causal relationship” – bullshit, he was just waiting for the Bogg Signal to appear over Gotham, waiting, as he was, in his Fortress of Saltitude.]

So, in a nutshell, Tbogg is an obvious liar. Never intended to stay retired. In a just world, this would effect his reputation and credibility.

I don’t get why media types, even at this level, bother to play these lame-ass, transparent games.

What part of “I don’t want to blog at FDL anymore, so I’m quitting and taking up shop over here…” was he too afeared to say?

@Ash Can: Nunes was never on my list of “more sensible reps”, he’s the asshole who kept pushing the “let’s gut the Antiquities Act” nonsense. His calling his fellow assholes ‘lemmings’ threw me off for a bit, but saying he wants to follow the rest of his lemming pack makes a lot more sense.
