Green Bay did a nice job against the Lions.
Soonergrunt
Go Broncos!
Wally Ballou
Pirates take a 2-0 lead in the first.
Temporarily Max McGee (soon enough to be Andy K again)
@Omnes Omnibus:
You know tha scene in “The Simpsons” in which you an see Ralph Wiggum’s heart breaking? That was most of the Lions’ fans on my FB feed today when Megatron was ruled out of the game.
It was a nice job by the Pack, but that offense needs to get it clicking in all gears.
Omnes Omnibus
@Temporarily Max McGee (soon enough to be Andy K again): I like the running game that seems to be developing.
Temporarily Max McGee (soon enough to be Andy K again)
@Omnes Omnibus:
Yeah, me too, but I wish they’d get Franklin in there a bit more. He showed last week that he’s capable of getting beyond the second tier of the defense (I also like getting a rise out of my sister by referring to him as Dennis Franklin, who was, if you recall, an option QB at Michigan in the ’70s, before Rick Leach).
Dolly Llama
Anybody seen Corner Stone around? I’ve been wanting to ask him about his boy Clowney.
PaulW
#FireSchiano.
Corner Stone
@Dolly Llama: Yeah? Still a top 10 pick. What else you got?
Omnes Omnibus
@Temporarily Max McGee (soon enough to be Andy K again): My guess is that Lacy is meant to be the featured back and they want to get him back in the swing of things. I would love to see a scheme like the Green/Davenport years where the feature back gets 4-5 plays and then the number 2 comes in for 2-3. Keep everyone involved but don’t let anyone get too tired.
Dolly Llama
@Corner Stone: Nothing else, I guess. Just checking in. I admire your … whatever it is. Steadfast fanhood, I guess you’d call it.
raven
@Corner Stone: This motherfucker was the greatest football player in history a month age. What a stiff.
How Bout Them Dawgs!!!!
Corner Stone
@raven: Have to admire them un-choking their hands around their necks the last two games.
Temporarily Max McGee (soon enough to be Andy K again)
@Omnes Omnibus:
Yeah, my thinking, too.
I wonder if the coaching staff is wary because, maybe, Franklin still hasn’t learned to pick up the blitz.
Corner Stone
@Dolly Llama: Yeah, it’s just me somehow.

I like the kid. I think he’ll do well on Sundays. What’s your gripe you sour mouthed motherfucker?
Dolly Llama
@Corner Stone: Well I admire South Carolina’s solid play against Kentucky and Clowney’s role in that victory.
Corner Stone
@Dolly Llama: Yes, I do as well. Thanks!
Dolly Llama
@Corner Stone: He’s got a heart problem, seems like.

In a couple of threads down someone wondered what political price the Republicans have paid for their shit.
I believe I’m correct on this.
I’m looking only at Presidents, but to the best of my ability this is a break-up of who was in the White House for the past 60 years in 20 year chunks:
1952 to 1972: R’s: 12 years, D’s 8: Years (Ike, ’52-60′, Kennedy-LBJ, ’60 to ’68, Nixon ’68-72)
1972 to 1992: R’s 16 years, D’s 4 years (Nixon/Ford ’72-’76, Carter 76 to ’80, Reagan ’80 to ’88, Bush, Sr. ’88 to ’92)
1992 to 2012: R’s 8 years, D’s 12 years (Clinton ’92 to ’00, Bush, Jr. ’00 to ’08, Obama ’08 to ’12)
And note Bush, Jr. squeaked into the White House in one of the closest and controversial elections in U.S. history, in 2000, despite losing the popular vote.
A pattern seems to be emerging on the national level.
Hope it holds in 2016.
Dolly Llama
@Corner Stone: No, no, it’s just me. It’s good to know that even when his own coaches have given up on him, you’re still in JC’s corner.
Burnspbesq
The menu for today includes barbecued goat.
24 min., galaxy 2-0 chivas.
JPL
@raven: Left you a picture of the little mutt, that is at the humane society, down below.
also, too.. go broncos
Corner Stone
@Dolly Llama: Wow. Given up on him? Man, that’s some first class hatorade you got working there. Not sure why you want to see a young man beat down, but…I guess you’ve got your reasons.
Roger Moore
Damn, Peyton is scary.
Burnspbesq
Now three-nil. Should be five. Two bad misses by keane.
Temporarily Max McGee (soon enough to be Andy K again)
@gene108:
Take it back to ’32 to ’52 and it makes you wonder why the GOP ever got another sniff at the office.
The Sailor
Colts were pretty good against the Seahawks.
JPL
@Roger Moore: During his last surgery, the dr.’s used kryptonite. Although it is widely known, because of political correctness, most teams are afraid to complain. They’ll look like spoiled sports.
khead
Cashed my first parlay today. W00T! First legal one anyway. Heh. Still kinda weird to be going to the local sports bar and putting in bets.
If Denver wins and/or covers 7.5 it’s going to be an even better day.
I’m hoping it’s 35-17 before Dallas touches the ball again.
Yatsuno
@The Sailor: Yeah. I knew eventually flaws would be found, though they showed up against the Texans as well.
gene108
@Temporarily Max McGee (soon enough to be Andy K again):
That’s easy.
Truman’s popularity was not good, from what I read.
Republicans convinced, arguably, the most popular man in America to run for President.
The bigger question I have is how did the Democrats lose control of Congress, in the late in 1940’s?
They ended the Great Depression, won WW2 and I understand the economy in 1946 was down a bit due to reintegrating 16 million men from the military to civilian jobs, but I believe the Dems lost control of Congress in 1946.
Dolly Llama
@Corner Stone: He’ll always have you.
Corner Stone
@Dolly Llama: Well, that and the millions of dollars he’s going to make over the next 5 years. Should be enough to keep him warm at night. While you’re staring in at him through the window, pulling your pud and mouthing hatred his way.
I’m not his agent and I didn’t have a vote when he was named All American.
Why you hatin’ so damn hard?
Corner Stone
@Corner Stone:
…
Oh. Gotcha.
raven
@JPL: Look at that sugar!
Dolly Llama
@Corner Stone: Oh, my God, yes! It’s because he’s BLACK! There are so few black men in the ranks of college football! I’m just singling him out! You have me all figured out!
Go ‘Cocks.
Wally Ballou
NLDS watch: Cards tied it 2-2 in the 5th.
Cermet
Poor John Cole – even when the steelers aren’t playing they are losers! All the AFC North teams won. The steelers fall even further down in the rankings.
Just Some Fuckhead, Thought Leader
@Cermet: The steelers fall even further down in the rankings.
JPL
Wow! I didn’t know that Peyton knew how to throw a bad pass.
Corner Stone
@JPL: That was indescribably bad.
Svensker
Cowboys Broncs = basketball game. Crazy.
Svensker
Holy moly.
Wally Ballou
Pirates leading 5-3 going to the 9th.
Suffern ACE
I think the Broncos might have a flaw or two in their defense.
Jerzy Russian
That was a timely interception by the Broncos. They had better run down the clock, as they cannot seem to play defense all that well today (the latest interception not withstanding).
Corner Stone
@Jerzy Russian:
Or was it classic Tony Romo?
Yes. Yes, it was classic Romo. Because he sucks.
The Sailor
900+ passing yards combined.
The Sailor
@Corner Stone:
500+ passing yards, 5 passing TDs. And only his second INT this year.
Wally Ballou
Pirates win for a 2-1 series lead.
Jerzy Russian
@The Sailor:
The Broncos gave up too many long plays. Anyway, a win is a win.
Corner Stone
@The Sailor: And? That pick was indefensible. And completely what he’s known for.
MonkeyHawk
I’ve been a Kansas City Chiefs fan since they were the Dallas Texans. Today they’re 5-0. Feels almost like like Hank (Matriculating) Stram days,
PsiFighter37
That was an exciting game. Romo played lights out, but of course, Romo being Romo, he blew it at the very end. I think I get why I’d be frustrated with him if I was a Cowboys fan after all these years.
If only he had held onto the ball in the playoff game vs. the Seahawks on that field goal attempt…
khead
I will take it. If Denver had won by more than 8 my wife and I would be heading out to somewhere nice next weekend. As it is, the early shift and a bunch of teasers that include Denver winning straight up covers my ass for the season so far.
khead
Vegas set the Denver/Jax line @ 28. Largest in history according to Phil Steele.
Thlayli
Curse of the Commentator:
Al Michaels mentions that Matt Schaub tied a league record by throwing pick-sixes in three straight games … and literally on the next play it happens again.
Corner Stone
@Thlayli: He was staring Andre down. I could’ve jumped that route from Houston.
Corner Stone
Soooo….Anyone know when the Texans are due to arrive in San Fran?
Suffern ACE
I hate this San Francisco team. They score touchdowns. Field goals. I need field goals! They haven’t had any since week 1. Touchdowns aren’t helpful.
kindness
Niners looked OK. I’m still not convinced but they looked good.
