My earworm yesterday and today has been Yo La Tengo’s cover of The Scene Is Now’s Yellow Sarong.
Which is a pretty great song to get stuck in your head, as opposed to the saccharine crap that usually gets so annoyingly stuck there.

we used to see Nettles in little clubs when she was in a band called “Soul Miner’s Daughter”. they were a kind of alt/hippy/country/blues band that played southern college towns for a few years.

it’s kind of surreal to see her as a big star, since she was, for years, just the (fantastic) singer of this little bar band.

@cleek: Nettles was inevitably Nashville bound, but it took her meeting up with a couple Bushes to really have her career take off. It was pretty inevitable she’d have some kind of big success though, her voice is amazing.
