    If you don’t want to click the link, it says, “317 million people in America and you spend 360 million on just introducing Obamacare? Just give each citizen a million bucks and save some damn money fools”

    Except 360 million divided by 317 million is $1.13. That would be one dollar and 13 cents. I wonder if this came from McMegan?

    Listening to the nationally syndicated radio broadcast of the Bills-Chiefs game, when I pick up a remark by color commentator Brian Baldinger that Bills’ middle linebacker Kiko Alonso has, “…a middle linebackers’ name.”

    Don’t get me wrong- I don’t catch enough of the Bills to rate Alonso’s play- but that name belongs to someone who plays in the midfield at, say, Racing Santander.

    @The Sailor:

    Just going by the line in the New York Times roundup story.

    Seriously, don’t be surprised if the downtrodden Texans give the Colts a run for their money. Houston has had two weeks to prepare and has reportedly spent some of that time the offense to capitalize on some of [quarterback Case] Keenum’s strengths. He fared relatively well against the Chiefs, who have the NFL’s best defense, in his last outing under less than ideal circumstances. Stranger things have happened, but Indianapolis is probably a little too good to trip up here.

    Sometimes hard to tell when a given line reflects some person’s prediction of the actual outcome or rather a gambling establishment’s balancing act to keep the bets even on both sides.

    . . . Hmm, just checked the actual betting lines at ESPN, and it’s even closer there: three books have the Colts by only 1, with one book at 2 and one at 3.

    Maybe this is a “parity” thing. I have noticed that this season the teams’ records don’t seem to track with game predictions very well.

    November 3, 2013 at 3:29 pm

    @Steeplejack: Besides the hapless Jags, and a beat down of SF, the Colts don’t seem to blow out their opponents. They also aren’t all that great against the run, and the Texans may get both Tate and Foster back (last report I saw).
    Case Keenum is the real deal given a little seasoning, IMO. He’s one of those “fling it fast and hard and let God sort it out” NCAA QB prodigies.
    But I think he can work in a pro system given enough snaps and a functioning run game.
    The killer is LB Cushing is out again for the season. And when that happens the Texans D decides to *not* stop people from running the ball.
    So we may get a 23-20 or 21-17 game. Hopefully, Texans. We have to win out to have a chance at the playoffs.
