@jeffreyw: Pink pads and pink nose. We have a big one like that.

I like the idea of Daft Punk, but “Get Lucky” is the lamest song I’ve heard in ages.
Bring on Lady Gaga talking about [Jeff] Koons.
Settling in for the CBS Lara Logan apology tour. It’s what’s for dinner.

Well that had a certain homoerotic militaristic ring to it. A group of fit men singing about getting lucky to an audience made up solely of older overweight men in uniform…
I can’t wait to see their cover of this.
The girls they love to see you shoot.

Did anyone else see the NYT Editorial on Bicycling deaths? Something along the lines of “Why is it legal to kill bicyclists?”
Only problem: Riding is likely going up and fatalities are generally down or steady. Sounds like a white person problem.
And an anecdata problem.
Plus the solution the writer gives: “I ‘m staying inside and just riding a trainer.”

Your thread was born in unfortunate times.

@Redshirt: Well, yeah.
I guess I didn’t love you enough.

‘Nuff said.

I could really identify with Staying Up All Night to Get Data. Even though I didn’t get to that point in my own science studies, when I was dating this research assistant I’d go his lab to pick him up for dinner only to have him ask if we could wait or go out another evening because the particle accelerator was giving data and he wanted to take one more set (becoming two or three more sets) before closing down for the night. Yeah, I spent a lot of late nights in his lab with him.
Uncle Cosmo
Anyone here beside me aware of the classic concerts of the Leningrad Cowboys (actually a Finnish rock band) with the Red Army Chorus? Worth the price of admission (since they’re free on the net). Try this one. Then google up the Total Balalaika Concert for about 1 hr 48 min of similar…

In Soviet Russia, Punks daft ahh fuck it

@Uncle Cosmo: I was about to post the LCs and RAC cover of “Sweet Home Alabama”, but your suggestion of the Total Balalaika Concert is outstanding.

@Narcissus:
Heh. Well done.

I win. Lynyrd Skynryd via a Finnish band with backing Red Army vocals.
Bow to me now or later…

Crap — trumped by Uncle Cosmo. No bows necessary…

Also check out this parody of Flo Rida’s “Wild Ones” from UC Berkeley’s Bioengineering grad students. And here’s a parody of Lady Gaga’s “Born This Way” from some UCLA undergrads for their Chem 14D class.

@yam: I was flipping the coin between “Sweet Home Alabama” & “Gimme All Your Lovin'” & settled on the latter because of the instrumental jokes slipped into the chorus (the opening bars of the Soviet national anthem followed by Handel’s Messiah) & the half-Cossack half-country-bumpkin dancers in the background. Yee-hawski!
