Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

Second rate reporter says what?

You are so fucked. Still, I wish you the best of luck.

Usually wrong but never in doubt

The party of Reagan has become the party of Putin.

Tick tock motherfuckers!

Everything is totally normal and fine!!!

I’m just a talker, trying to find a channel!

Let us savor the impending downfall of lawless scoundrels who richly deserve the trouble barreling their way.

In short, I come down firmly on all sides of the issue.

The revolution will be supervised.

The gop is a fucking disgrace.

Do not shrug your shoulders and accept the normalization of untruths.

Republicans: The threats are dire, but my tickets are non-refundable!

You cannot shame the shameless.

They fucked up the fucking up of the fuckup!

rich, arrogant assholes who equate luck with genius

if you can’t see it, then you are useless in the fight to stop it.

Balloon Juice has never been a refuge for the linguistically delicate.

Peak wingnut was a lie.

The arc of the moral universe doesn’t bend itself. it’s up to us.

Spilling the end game before they can coat it in frankl luntz-approved dogwhistles.

Never entrust democracy to any process that requires republicans to act in good faith.

The worst democrat is better than the best republican.

Some judge needs to shut this circus down soon.

I have to say, I like PC Richard and Son’s approach to Black Friday. Just caught a commercial that basically called out other retailers as anti-family for being open on Thanksgiving and guaranteed that anything they have advertised on sale will be available all day on Friday so you don’t have to wake up at 4 am.

Would like to point out the second video is a cover. It doesn’t really matter, but just for accuracy’s sake, thought I’d mention it.

This is the original. It was made with the Japanese vocal synthesizer Hatsune Miku, while the cover was made with Japanese vocal synthesizer Megurine Luka, a later entrant in the same series of products. Actually, there are covers of this song with most of vocal synthesizers out there because somebody made a VSQ file (what you plug into the software) of the song and released it so everyone and their mother could use it.

I find it amusing you included Calne Cal in a list of ‘hot Japanese dancing girls’. Then again, I remember you being a very kinky old girl. At the absolute minimum.

@Gravenstone: never tapped into that series, liked the opening song tho… kind of a nice ethereal quality to her voice.

My own favorite opening and ending is dependent on mood, so I won’t try and lay a definitive #1, i’ll just try to cite ones that I like, that for some reason strike a chord and resonate with me….

@piratedan: Durarara suffers from a gigantic cast plus a complete mess of a storyline. But it’s animated well and cited as an interesting look at how Japanese view Westerners.

Kare Kano, though, is pure genius.

(Fun fact: pinky swearing in Japanese is yubikiri, or finger cutting. And yes little kids say that.)

@Yatsuno: while I thought Durarara was discombobulated, the theme song was killer, hence why I cited it and yes, Kare Kano is fucking brilliant, although I never understood why the author pulled the plug on the adaptation, although I have seen it cited that it wasn’t serious enough. Probably a blessing in disguise as the manga seriously jumps the sharks in another six chapters, but the music from the series, beautiful enough that even this round eye has the soundtrack 2.0

@Omnes Omnibus: I am not really an industrial fan.

Whereas, when I read Man Smoking E-Cigarette Must Be Futuristic Bounty Hunter (The Onion), I had to break out my 20-year-old custom mirror shades …, which I might have worn to a show like Ministry – Smothered Hope – NYC 1988.

But the lady was doing dance music!

Nothing on hand – Massive Attack – Mezzanine – Dissolved girl. Way more mellow.

I do prefer the bonus video though

Pro shooting, pro dancer, very nice. Most of those ladies are obviously enthusiastic amateurs – but the vids leads me to good songs.

@Gravenstone: Durarara is fun, convoluted, weird but fun. Perhaps the number of characters is a bit much (like you need a scorecard to keep track), the themes may suit ya but I am hard pressed to say who’s going to like any series because tastes differ so much… it’s like I adore Ghost In The Shell but for some reason never got hooked into Death Note. so there are some series that I’ve never seen because I read the synopsis and said that I would pass.

@Gravenstone: well I am all over the place when it comes to anime, I adore the rom-com genre as long as it’s well written, hence Kare Kano, Lovely Complex, Toradora and Kaze No Kanojo are good examples (IMHO) but a good action series like Cowboy BeBop, Trigun, FMA and Durarara, I’ll invest some time in as well, but there’s also the manic stuff like FLCL, School Rumble and Seitokai Yakuindomo and that’s not even covering the sports anime stuff like Cross Game and
    Ookiku Furikabutte
… just saying that I’m not locked into any one specific genre

If we’re doing some Vocaloid-related craziness, I offer this meme for its silliness and the wonderful freaky body language.
