Earlier today @nerdywonka was posting an awesome pic of Rosa on the bus combined with a photo of Pres Obama sitting in the same seat on the same bus.

The thing that always sticks with me is that we tend to view what Rosa Parks did as a spontaneous action but there had been years of careful organizing so that they were ready to turn that action into the successful bus boycott. I am not diminishing in any way what Rosa did as she is one of my great heroes, just lifting up that it takes perseverance and organizing to create social change.

So I helped my friends sign up for health and dental insurance! Yay! There were some tears (of joy) followed by lots of praise for our Kenyan Muslim Usurper followed by spicy food to celebrate.

Son covered completely by CHIP. Health insurance after subsidies $54.37 per month with a $400 deductible and a $1,000 out of pocket max for a PPO Silver plan with cost sharing. Dental just under $100 per month

Mom can now see a doctor and treat her diabetes!! Dad can get his root canals. I think I will have a lifetime supply of chana masala and mutter paneer.

Website worked perfectly and the phone call was incredibly pleasant.

    I blame Obama.

An Indo-American Silicon Valley CEO claims discrimination doesn’t exist in the Valley.

My executive staff is a microcosm of the Valley: My CTO is Australian, my COO is Canadian, my head of sales is Turkish, my CMO is American, my head of engineering is Indian and my head of services is Chinese. When I hire, I simply look for the best candidate. I don’t care where they come from. I care what they can do. And given the incredible amount of talent, I don’t have to look very far.

I spent some wasted time today trolling twitchy and getting into an extended discussion with a woman about why complaining about “Moochelle” and the “9 kinds of pie but not humble pie” served at the White House for Thanksgiving was probably inappropriate and rude. She stopped responding after a while but I saw another comment from another guy stating as a fact that the Obama’s had probably “never eaten anything that wasn’t paid for by someone else” in their lives. I realized I was seeing the tip of a crazy right wing meme, not surprising somehow but still shocking, that argues that the President and Mrs. Obama never earned any money in the private sector and therefore all of their salaries and spending are somehow analagous to welfare. Just when you think you’ve gotten to the bottom of the barrell, they blast on through.

I think the potential is definitely there for the Democrats to gain a lot of votes–so that we can accomplish more good things to help ordinary people! The big caveat is that WE have to make it happen. These friends of mine were ready to just pay the penalty having heard that Obamacare was a disaster. I told them that I would go to their house and help them sign up so they could find out for themselves.

I feel like we each need to help five friends sign up for ObamaCare. I know my friends are going to tell all of their friends how great it is. Hopefully they will encourage others to sign up as well. We have to make this happen! Maybe I’ll start a new hashtag. #help5savelives
