Late Night Open Thread

Long night of rotting my brain on the boob tube and reading the intertrons, but I must say that the John Goodman SNL was better than usual- the Three Wise Guys skit was kind of amusing. At any rate, I spent the whole night being looked over by my new Lord and Master, who sat on the shelf right next to me (but still over me so he could look down in rightful judgment) all night:

It’s really very hard to describe how much “presence” this cat has. Tunch was the same way, but different. And I had something else to say but I just thought about what I wrote and now I feel like Yogi Berra and think bed is a better option than my keyboard.

    Sleep well. I’m off to a holiday party and then straight to work. Yes, on a weekend. A sober (for me) holiday party will be interesting.

    Forgot to add, Steve is a damn fine looking cat. And your improved lighting in the pet photos is wonderful. “If life’s a stage I demand better lighting!” is a favorite phrase of my theater friends, and I agree with them.

    Nighters. I’m packing my sketch book. I think I have the budget to treat myself to a breakfast out. 2 eggwhites and a side of steamed spinach. about $5. Then I sketch in the hopes of getting my next animation project characters finalized, go see Tha Habbit with friends, come back and box items for posting. It’s the start of 3 weeks vacation (mandatory). It seems I ended the year with a super surplus of vacay and they’re not letting me come back until it’s just at max capacity. I do not like super forced vacation, but I don’t really owe people planning to let me go after years of above and beyond, my usual stellar work ethic, now do I? Fingers crossed that I have a drawing breakthrough. And that the eggs are good.

    I’m wide awake because my sister and I just finished our epic annual Christmas cookie baking marathon. We did tons of cut-out iced sugar cookies (some traditional shapes, some bizarre), macaroons, mocha espresso truffle cookies, orange thins, chocolate chip and buckeyes.

    @Betty Cracker: Let’s try this. But if that don’t work then one of us has splainin’ to do.

    @Yatsuno: Gah! Again, a message mentioning the Harry Fox Agency and notification that it’s “blocked in your country.” Which is the same as your country. How vexxing.

    @Betty Cracker:
    And this one wasn’t blocked in my country, either. Which is not even on the same side of the planet as your country.

    We’re going to see a screening of “Saving Mr. Banks” tomorrow — hopefully it’s as good as everyone says. G is in love with Emma Thompson so I know he’ll like it.

    Great picture of Steve! He is truly a regal beast and likely will get nothing but better as he ages. :) Good early morning to any of you up and about at this wicked time of the day.

    @Betty Cracker:
    saw it last night, did not love it. it felt waaayyyy overstuffed with stuff that wasn’t in the book, added simply for the sake of making more of a spectacle.

    and the ending was…abrupt. the audience laughed.

    I went out of town for four days last week for work. While I was gone, my husband reported, the cats did not make an appearance. When I came home I was immediately surrounded by all three and since I have been home I have had a cat within two feet of me at all times. I feel like their Queen. All hail ellie! Queen of Cats.

    @Betty Cracker: A friend of mine told me after the movie that Colbert was the guy with the eye patch, but it went by so fast I couldn’t tell. Oh well, guess I’ll have to see it again too!
