Batocchio is continuing the tradition of Jon Swift/Al Weisel. Why nominate one of your posts? Here’s his blurb.
——————————-
It’s that time of year again to continue a tradition started by Jon Swift/Al Weisel, the “Best Posts of the Year, Chosen by the Bloggers Themselves.” Jon/Al left behind some wonderful satire, but was also a nice guy and a strong supporter of small blogs. (Here’s Jon/Al’s 2007 and 2008editions and the revivals from 2010, 2011 and 2012.)
If you’d like to participate, just reply to this e-mail or write to me (Batocchio9 AT yahoo DOT com) with your best post of the year:
Blog Name
Title of Post
Title of Post
Link
Author of Post
Brief Description/Pitch of the Post (1-2 sentences)
(If it’s not a reply, adding “best post” in the subject line would also help.)
To modify Jon Swift’s 2008 solicitation:
I would be very honored if you would participate and send me a link to what you think was your best post of [2013], along with a short description of it. Please make the hard choice and send me only one link. I would like to post it before the end of the year, so if you could get it to me before Christmas, I would really appreciate it.
As usual, I’m aiming to find the right balance between “inclusive” and “manageable.” If you know a few excellent blogs (preferably on the smaller side) that you suspect might not be on my radar, feel free to send me their URL (and contact info, if you have it).

Is it ok to pimp one’s own blog? Not that I think I am the best, but getting more readers is always welcome.
Certified Mutant Enemy
Is there prize for worst blog?
DougJ
@schrodinger’s cat:
Yes, that’s the idea.

My best post?
But they are all so lame…

Pardon me, I speak blogwhore. I wroted one real good today in the Shuffle series whereby I hit shuffle and write about the song that comes up. Deerhunter — Nothing Ever Happened

He emailed me too. He did me a huge favor promoting a couple of my blog entries – one on a review of President Wilson’s character, which surprised me, and one about the Hollow Men of the modern GOP during the shutdown, which didn’t surprise me – on the Crooks & Liars site.
I also suggested he look at Emily Hauser’s site and ask her for a blog nomination. Maybe Anibundel’s too.

That newsmax headline caught my eye:
The GnR guitarist can never catch a break, can he? Wonder if the Dr was wearing a top hat…

@schrodinger’s cat:
Pimping one’s blog is one of the few ways to get traffic – Hi, by the way! – but it’s a lot better when another blog esp. Crooks and Liars does a promotional round-up every day and includes your own from time to time.
My traffic goes up by about 900 views when C&L links a blog article to me. Without it, most of my blog articles get about 8-18 views, and that’s with sharing it among friends on Facebook.

And if somebody can do me a favor when you read my current blog article about Bill Clinton’s Presidential Character, can you help me find that “Future Imperative vs. Baby Boomer Selfishness” article? I’d REALLY love to re-read it if I can find it…

Jon Swift was the best. Anyone who hasn’t read him yet should go to his blog and just read any random post. Great stuff.
Batocchio
Thanks for posting this, Doug!
Yes, this is the thread for the BJ commentariat to blogwhore! Jon Swift’s annual roundups primarily consisted of political (mostly left-leaning), cultural or personal blogs. And while some big blogs were represented, it was cool that many smaller blogs were also included.
And like kc says, anyone who hasn’t read Jon Swift’s work really should check it out.

@Batocchio: So do we put the link in this thread or send you an e-mail?
WaterGIrl
@schrodinger’s cat: If people post their links here, then we might all learn about blogs that are new to us.
JoyfulA
@Batocchio: and read the comments on Jon Swift’s conservative blog. There’s always a newbie commenting who just isn’t catching on.
And, of,course, his Amazon book reviews.
Batocchio
@schrodinger’s cat:
You can do either. I’ll be checking this thread for submissions as well as my e-mail. Thanks!
Mustang Bobby
@Batocchio: Mine’s already been sent in.
For the rest of you, here it is if you just can’t wait for the round-up posting.
I’ve been making a nuisance enough by commenting here, but just in case you haven’t stopped by Bark Bark Woof Woof, please do.
WaterGIrl
@Mustang Bobby: You made me cry with your loving tribute. How are the parents doing?
MBL
Well, okey-dokey. Here’s my blog, infinitefreetime.
My as-determined-by-me best post is “On Fathering,” from earlier this year.
Thanks!

I’ll nominate myself in the hope that it will get me back to blogging:
What the Heck is “Pre-Code”?

Like another commenter mentioned, not into pimping myself, but I wouldn’t mind a little more traffic. It would be nice to graduate from “completely invisible” to “merely obscure,” ha ha. The post is entitled America’s Poet, and it’s a snarky commentary on the shallow artistic taste of our political and showbiz elites. I think people would find it amusing.

@ranchandsyrup:
Can we at least address the addressee properly?
Sheesh, what is this blog coming to? ::shakes blue-veined fist at ceiling, wanders off muttering to self::
Mustang Bobby
@WaterGIrl: They’re great; loving their new place, and after a couple of weeks of internet fubarring from Time Warner, Mom is back full-time commenting on all her favorite lefty blogs.
WaterGIrl
@Mustang Bobby: Go mom!
