I was trying to think of some suitably humorous wingnuttery to amuse myself — and hopefully you, dear reader — with on this Christmas Day when I remembered the email I got last night about PajamaGate, or OnesieGate, as some are calling it. This is a pretty amazing piece:
Perhaps the goal of OFA was to create a readily mockable image to draw attention to its message, in which case Pajama Boy was a brilliantly successful troll. The right immediately Photoshopped him into the Mandela funeral selfie and emblazoned his photo with derisive lines like “Hey girl, I live with my parents” and “How did you know I went to Oberlin?”
[….]If you wanted to illustrate what Tocqueville was getting at in one meme, Pajama Boy would be good way to do it.
Villago Delenda Est
OFA knows how to play the rubes.
They fall for this shit every single fucking time.
Baud
Why waste time reading the cliff’s notes?
Corner Stone
So DougJ, are you married now, still engaged, or in some other relationship status?
ruemara
Is there seriously nothing more worthy for the GOP to focus on? Jesu.
Baud
I hope the next OFA ad features a couple of Brokeback Mountain cowboys.

Merry Holidaymassday everyone.
Thanks for the post, that reminded me of pajamaboy and his gate. I had totally forgotten about both.
Last night, too much spiked eggnog, or gorging on Christmass goodies, or something, gave me a BJ Christmas nightmare. I nightmared that Cole got some naked mole rats for Christmas, fell in love, and started adopting them. Every night there would be naked mole rat pics.
Pajamaboygate will get my mid off of that horror.
Amir Khalid
They do have this amazing fixation on the perceived girliness of Pajama Boy, don’t they? They’re also fascinated by Obama’s downturn in popularity polling. I don’t know if he plans on running again in 2016 (as I understand, he might not) but as far as I know he’s never been much concerned about it.
Baud
@Amir Khalid:
Obama can’t run again.
Barry
@Baud: With their kid :)
Villago Delenda Est
@jl:
Curse you. I can’t unread that post.
Amir Khalid
@Baud:
What, do you mean Obama’s really not planning to do a Bloomberg?
schrodinger's cat
The real question is; will pajama boy be able to monetize his pajamas with a new start-up in our hyper-connected economy?
schrodinger's cat
@Amir Khalid: As if Rich Lowry and Jonah Goldberg are tough manly men themselves!
Cassidy
@jl: No, Cole will just get more cats.
IowaOldLady
@ruemara: That was exactly my thought. Occasionally I find myself turning into my mother and saying things like “That should be the worst thing you ever have to worry about.”
FlipYrWhig
Regarding the supposed femininity of the ensemble, isn’t the most famous drink-sipping pajama-wearer… Hugh Hefner?
Baud
@Amir Khalid:
I wouldn’t wish a third term on my worst enemy.
cleek
be sure not to miss the joy in the comments on that gopusa article !
PIGL
Read the article and comments. These people are a bunchs real sick fucks.
To the, in comparison, normal and healthy BJrs, my wishes for a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
Elmo
I love the tone-deafness of it all.
Republicans love women! Women should love Republicans!
Hurr Hurr lookit the girly dude herp derp.
Every day, in every way, they can’t help sending out the message – straight white and male is the norm, everything else is Other and Lesser.
ruemara
@cleek: Joy must have changed definitions.
schrodinger's cat
@Elmo: As far as I can tell, pajama dude seems white.
Botsplainer
@schrodinger’s cat:
I’m guessing that the conservative manly men harbor a secret wish to top out on pajama boy, so it becomes imperative to mock him, because they’re totes not gay.
MattF
Let’s not forget that Lowry is the Starburst Guy. So… what to say… He reacts very strongly to certain well-defined but unusual stimuli.
jebediah, RBG
well, I was just amused by some sky trolling- sitting at strbks with doggies and two planes flew by dragging banners. one had a merry christmas message, the other (couldn’t quite read the whole thing) something about “obama didn’t really run US Inc hijacked America” Puzzling.
BruceJ
@jebediah, RBG: Betcha the part you couldn’t read said ‘Ron Paul 2016’ :-)
Yatsuno
@Elmo: They are the scorpion. They cannot help but be what their nature requires them to be. Fear that if someone is gaining they must be losing somehow is burned into their very souls. It’s pretty pathetic, really.
Roger Moore
@ruemara:
No. Their only strategy these days seems to be putting out a bunch of noise about the latest outrage. They have to keep up a constant stream of it, or people will start paying attention to serious issues, which we know will hurt the Republicans.
Villago Delenda Est
@Elmo:
Don’t forget “correctly Christian” in your formulation of what is “normal”. When push comes to shove, Catholics are right out, as are Episcopalians and “mainstream” established Protestants. Whacky little cults of Mammon are perfectly OK, though.
Elmo
@schrodinger’s cat:
Yes – the objection appears to be that he is “like a girl,” which appears to be self-evidently a Bad Thing.
schrodinger's cat
@Elmo: Isn’t that rich coming from Rich Lowry and Fatbody Goldberg? I mean they are hardly all that hot themselves. If you put glasses on Lowry and dress him up like the model in question, he could pass for PJ dude’s older brother.
Keith G
This is surely a bit of pixel dust that will be gone shortly. No need trying to draw any deeper meaning from it.
The internet is full of these two week morsels that pop up, become snack food for the terminally non-thinking, and then disappear into to the foggy ether from whence they came. Their only legacy is the wasted keystrokes they generate.
Joseph Nobles
Was there ever a better demonstration of the right wing’s bullying tendencies than this reaction to Pajama Boy? If they had any shame at all, this would be their Face in the Crowd moment.
Arclite
I go away for a few days, and I get completely out of the loop. What the hell is pajama gate?
dr. bloor
NOT an Obie. No bong in that picture.
FlipYrWhig
@Arclite: A web ad from IIRC Organizing for America with the form of a to-do list for the holidays: (1) wear pajamas, (2) drink hot chocolate, (3) talk about signing up for health insurance. The guy in the accompanying picture has hipster glasses and plaid pajamas and looks a bit like Johnny Galecki from Big Bang Theory. This is apparently hilarious and/or offensive to conservatives because the guy strikes them as wimpy. From there they’ve gone on to all kinds of weirdness about Obama, liberals, and emasculation. It’s extremely bizarre.

@FlipYrWhig: Thanks Flip. So in other words, space normal speed for the nutters.

de Tocqueville was terrified of appearing not quite manly enough? Who knew?
J R in WV
So the one dude wingnut quoted de Tocqueville for the entirety of his post, and then all the other wingnuts voted his comment, written for him by de Tocqueville, up to a 5/5.
Am I the only person in the world that thinks it’s extremely strange for a guy to quote someone dead for nearly 200 years and others render huge applause for his ability to quote a dead philosopher?
And the quoter to actually take the applause [email protected]!?
Too weird. I will never understand windnut Repugnants.
