Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

Never entrust democracy to any process that requires republicans to act in good faith.

I’d hate to be the candidate who lost to this guy.

The worst democrat is better than the best republican.

Do not shrug your shoulders and accept the normalization of untruths.

It’s a good piece. click on over. but then come back!!

When they say they are pro-life, they do not mean yours.

The rest of the comments were smacking Boebert like she was a piñata.

Conservatism: there are people the law protects but does not bind and others who the law binds but does not protect.

This must be what justice looks like, not vengeful, just peaceful exuberance.

Shallow, uninformed, and lacking identity

Let’s bury these fuckers at the polls 2 years from now.

I would try pessimism, but it probably wouldn’t work.

Republicans: slavery is when you own me. freedom is when I own you.

Anyone who bans teaching American history has no right to shape America’s future.

Republicans don’t want a speaker to lead them; they want a hostage.

This chaos was totally avoidable.

Our messy unity will be our strength.

Republicans do not pay their debts.

Prediction: the gop will rethink its strategy of boycotting future committees.

Every one of the “Roberts Six” lied to get on the court.

“In the future, this lab will be a museum. do not touch it.”

Fight for a just cause, love your fellow man, live a good life.

Trump should be leading, not lying.

Michigan is a great lesson for Dems everywhere: when you have power…use it!

A touch pitchy but still quite lovely.

Hi dear. I’m out of hospital and starting therapy tomorrow.

@Sarah, Proud and Tall: Haven’t met them yet. Odds are it will be a female, as physio is slightly woman dominated in the US. However, there was one PT at the hospital I wanted to throw my legs up for. Built, handsome, no ring, and an ever so slight lisp. I only got to play with him twice, but I definitely enjoyed those sessions.

EDIT: drugs are kicking in and sleep is calling. Night my dear heart.

@Villago Delenda Est: One guess who’s jumping out of the cake!

But this has to be the definition of WTF were you thinking:

Rodman is also getting some resistance from his own team of ex-NBA players.

Former NBA star Charles D. Smith says he feels remorse for coming to Pyongyang with Rodman for a game on the North Korean leader’s birthday because the event has been dwarfed by politics and tainted by Rodman’s own comments.

Smith and other former NBA players are scheduled to play with Rodman against a team of North Koreans on Wednesday that organizers say leader Kim Jong-un is expected to attend. Many of the players on Tuesday privately expressed second thoughts about going ahead because of an outpouring of criticism back home in the United States.

Smith, who played for the New York Knicks, said the North Korea trip has been dwarfed by politics and Rodman’s frequent boasts about his close friendship with Kim.

“What we are doing is positive, but it is getting dwarfed by the other circumstances around it,” Smith told The Associated Press. “Apparently our message is not being conveyed properly due to the circumstances that are much bigger than us, and I think that has to do with politics and government.”

YOU WENT TO A COUNTRY FULL OF STARVING PEOPLE RUN BY A CABAL OF CRAZY, CRUEL MEN. YOUR MESSAGE IS NOT WHAT YOU THINK YOUR MESSAGE IS.

Arctic blast compels escaped Kentucky inmate to ask for return to prison
    By Agence France-Presse
    Wednesday, January 8, 2014 7:27 EST

An Arctic chill kept the United States and Canada in the deep freeze on Tuesday as a record-breaking cold front saw temperatures drop lower than those recorded on the surface of Mars.

All of Canada and every U.S. state – except tropical Hawaii in the Pacific – recorded temperatures below freezing on Tuesday, even usually warm and sunny Florida and California.

It was so cold in Chicago that the polar bear at the Lincoln Park zoo was brought inside.

And an inmate who escaped in Kentucky, one of the usually temperate southern states, asked to be returned to prison after spending the night shivering in an abandoned house.

Officials said 42-year-old Robert Vick walked into a Lexington motel and asked the clerk to call police.

Vick, who was serving a five-year term for burglary and a six-year sentence for criminal possession of a forged instrument, was treated at a hospital for frostbite on his toes and fingers
