My cats scratching the furniture, who wake me up so that I can do my sacred duty of feeding them at the crack of dawn.

Sarah: it’s so lovely to see you back and posting more. Bringing us some snark from (way!) Southern climes.
I’ve not yet read your opus on gay marriage, but bookmarked it and will.
Just getting into Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings.
Heard they’re wonderful (they are); think they’re touring again now that Miss Jones has recovered her health. They sell out the 930 Club here in DC area, which is a great place for shows.

@RSR: UH OH… This is good news for Rand Paul.

Les Misérables, auf Deutsch, on YouTube. (Don’t tell Cameron Mackintosh.) It’s for my German listening comprehension.

@RSR:
He meant traffic studies. Stupid spellcheck.

This scandal is proceeding right on schedule.

Some of you have probably already seen this, but for you parents out there – it’s the Lorde’s song “Royals” rewritten for parents. It’s pretty well done, and funny.

Wow, Christie’s bullying ways have caught up to him-

Hey, anybody know where to get the BJ 2014 pet calendar? Toss me a linky, please?
dmsilev
@RSR: Jesus Christ, are these people human?
Also, too, if these are the sorts of people that Christie appoints to government posts, that by itself should be a disqualifying factor for him holding any sort of elected position.

Sorry, I missed the music part of open thread-
Here’s a few things I’m enjoying lately

@Esme’s Mom: Still in production, I believe. Designer had a family critical situation to focus on, and new designer was sought.

The sound of my nurse here at Shady Pines looking for a finger to bleed. Thank god I have permission to wear my leg and I can get out of here soon…

@dmsilev:
“Hoodlum” doesn’t seem too strong a word, either for Christie or for his people and their actions as described in the story. This bit of business looks like malicious abuse of authority to me, but am I correct in guessing that it doesn’t rise to the level of criminal conduct?

Unfortunately, I woke to the sound of the constantly running furnace and wondered if I had enough juicy stories to sell to pay the gas bill as I am a little too old to make a sex tape.
dmsilev
@Amir Khalid: I have no idea what the relevant laws are as far as criminal conduct. From a political standpoint, this is deadly for Christie.

@dmsilev:
And, at 10:03, a NYTimes subscribers’ email alert went out, highlighting the emails about Christie bridge closures.
And it’s Wednesday. Not Friday night.
You must keep us apprised what those smart Villagers and cable talkers are saying.
dmsilev
@Elizabelle: Fortunately for my own mental health, I ditched cable (including the gabbers) a couple years back.

@RSR: I found this on the NYTimes
On Wednesday morning, Gov. Christie cancelled an 11 a.m. public appearance at a firehouse on the Jersey Shore.

@dmsilev: “this is deadly for Christie. ”
This would be deadly for a democrat – see Vitter versus Weiner. Whether it is for a GOP pol remains to be seen. I can promise you he is not going to resign over it.

Having a little East Bay Grease for breakfast with my coffee, after which I’ll be back on the streets again.

As Nicole Hollander said, the sound of two cats upchucking is guaranteed to get you up and out of bed in no time at all.
I just got to hear “I Will Always Love You” because the vet’s office has the “lite rock” station on. Charlotte did just fine with her dental exam — now we’re waiting for the vet portion of the appointment. Annual exam FTW.

What am I listening to when I get out of bed?
The coffee maker telling me my legal morning stimulant is done brewing.

Dancing is also a good way to injure yourself, which I did Saturday night during Scottish country dance. Twisted my knee and spent the rest of the evening listening to the band. My dance class was hosting, so I felt obligated to stay and help with the potluck after.
Just strained a muscle, says the doc, so I should be ok in a couple of weeks. No dancing or running for a while though.
MattR
@catclub: One of the angles I am pushing because I think it will damage Christie with Republicans is that even if the traffic study was legitimate, it was stupid and irrepsonsible to limit access to the GWB on the anniversary of 9/11.

@Elizabelle: Saw her at Bonnaroo 2012. Wonderful performer. Like a mini Tina Turner.

It’s a bit early for me, but what the heck, I’ll give it a go and see if my boogie starts to explode.

Currently it’s “Red Barchetta”, “One Little Victory”, “Marathon”, and “Prime Mover” all by Rush. I’m celebrating 5 years since I took delivery of an ’81 Chevy Citation X-11 that needed rescuing. Most of the work I’ve done is little stuff, but it’s pretty neat having taken the car from “um…can I fix this?” to having folks compliment me on it. Ten-year old boys are the best: “WOW!! Cool car!!”
