Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

“Can i answer the question? No you can not!”

An almost top 10,000 blog!

Come on, man.

The republican caucus is already covering themselves with something, and it’s not glory.

… among the most cringeworthy communications in the history of the alphabet!

Meanwhile over at truth Social, the former president is busy confessing to crimes.

When do we start airlifting the women and children out of Texas?

He wakes up lying, and he lies all day.

Seems like a complicated subject, have you tried yelling at it?

Conservatism: there are some people the law protects but does not bind and others who the law binds but does not protect.

Whatever happens next week, the fight doesn’t end.

It’s easy to sit in safety and prescribe what other people should be doing.

And now I have baud making fun of me. this day can’t get worse.

🎶 Those boots were made for mockin’ 🎵

I didn’t have alien invasion on my 2023 BINGO card.

When I decide to be condescending, you won’t have to dream up a fantasy about it.

Whoever he was, that guy was nuts.

Usually wrong but never in doubt

This blog will pay for itself.

Thanks to your bullshit, we are now under siege.

Not so fun when the rabbit gets the gun, is it?

Consistently wrong since 2002

After roe, women are no longer free.

Sadly, there is no cure for stupid.

Isn’t there an old Hollywood line about the people you step on when you’re on your way up are the ones who will kick you on your way down? Sam Goldwyn or Harry Cohn or Ida Lupino or whoever it was said it more cleverly, but Christie’s long term strategy of triangulating against his own party might just backfire on him

“It seems to me that this whole bridge thing reinforces a narrative that’s troublesome about the guy, he’s kind of a bully,” Graham said Thursday, according to MSNBC.
Graham said that even if Christie wasn’t directly involved in the lane closures, the way he governs influenced his staff.
“If anybody in my office had done such a thing, they knew what their fate would be cause I’m not that kind a guy,” he said. “I just don’t see how people that close to him could have felt comfortable enough to do this if they thought their boss wasn’t of this mindset. Isn’t that just common sense?”

Bernie Marcus says ObamaCare will harm the middle class:

Home Depot co-founder Bernie Marcus is warning that more middle-class Americans are going to be “very, very hurt – very, very hurt” by rising health care costs in the months ahead, but the full impact of the Affordable Care Act, or Obamacare, will hit home in 2015, after this year’s midterm elections.
“Think about middle-class people that are living hand to mouth, really,” said Marcus, who has been a vocal critic of Obama administration policies. “You’re making $70,000 to $80,000 today. It’s not an easy life for you. Everything has gone up. The cost of food has gone up. The cost of gas has gone up…and all of a sudden you’re taking home less pay than you did before because of your cost of health insurance.”

Health care premiums have been crippling the middle class for years, and suddenly you’re going to blame Obamacare for insurance increases. Especially when the rate of increase is FINALLY going down and the total expenditures on health care are decreasing relative to the size of the economy?

I actually found the parkour video rather dull. The purpose of parkour according to its creator was to be the martial arts answer to “running away from your enemies.” That is, a more efficient system for evading attackers as opposed to a martial arts still designed to let you more efficiently combat them. I am impressed by parkour enthusiasts who race one another, improvisationally using the environment to cover ground more quickly. That video wasn’t parkour — it was gymnastics with bad form. YMMV.

@Violet: Fort Lee Mayor Accepts Christie’s Apology: ‘I’m Glad He Came’

Even though Sokolich said that he did not want Christie to come to Fort Lee for an apology, Christie insisted and Sokolich said he was glad the governor stopped by.

“I’m glad he came,” Sokolich said after meeting with the governor. “I indicated maybe it wouldn’t be productive to come up now. It wasn’t to be disrespectful. It was just, would it make more sense to do it when the investigation is completed? The governor insisted, and we would certainly welcome our governor with open arms, as we did.”..

Sokolich said that he believes Christie’s claims that he did not know about his aides’ plans to shut down lanes on the bridge.

“I take him for his word, which is, he didn’t have anything to do with it,” Sokolich said.
