Cold meds are screwing with my ability to sleep through the night. And now the alarm goes off in 1 hour, 11 min. Guess I’ll switch from Gregorian chants on Youtube to a news stream and start prepping breakfast.
I just watched the Opening Ceremony (the parts I care about), because the Pens played earlier (and lost) and then I had company for a bit, so I just missed the whole thing. Now I am listening to Zeppelin while trying to unwind. Everything about me is just so tight and anxious these days. All I can think about is the fucking car and PSH and my knee and well, anything else that can pop into my head that can work me up. At any rate, listening to this really loud, for now. May have to move onto something more chaotic like Les Claypool so I can get my head to calm down.
Skipped Claypool and went to Zappa, Filmore East 71. I need new speakers, because this 20 year old 200 watt adcom amp and my ten year speakers are not loud. Have to deal for now until I hit the lottery, I guess.
Bitcoin plunged more than 8 percent today after a Tokyo-based exchange halted withdrawals of the digital currency, citing technical malfunction.
Mt. Gox, a popular exchange for dollar-based trades, said in a blog post it needed to “temporarily pause on all withdrawal requests to obtain a clear technical view of the currency processes.” It promised an “update” — not a reopening — on Monday, Feb. 10, Japan time.
No doubt it’s just a coincidence that this “malfunction” occurred hours after Russia’s chief prosecutor declared Bitcoin illegal in Russia.
Not sure if this counts as chaotic music, but it does have a guy painting on stage during the performance (not that you can really see his work in this particular video)

Skinny Puppy, the Vancouver industrial rock band that sent an invoice to the U.S. military for allegedly using its music in Guantanamo Bay, says it was “coached” in ways to potentially sue the U.S. Department of Defense for using its material illegally. The band says its music has been played at Gitmo in the interrogation of detainees, and is now demanding $666,000 in compensation. […]
Cevin Key, the band’s keyboardist, says the band at first planned to design an album cover based on an invoice for the U.S. government, rather than sending a physical invoice. But after learning that the government had allegedly used their music without permission, Key says the band was told it could bring a suit against the Department of Defense. “We sent them an invoice for our musical services considering they had gone ahead and used our music without our knowledge and used it as an actual weapon against somebody,” Key told CTV’s Kevin Newman Live. […]
And Key said band members were “offended” to learn that their music was played in the notorious prison to “inflict damage” on detainees. “I wouldn’t want to be subjected to any overly loud music for six to 12 hours at a time without a break,” he said.
Marc Maron shares some touching reflections about PSH, tells about a taking a cat to the vet, and provides a very interesting interview with Morgan Murphy – a rare woman comedy writer (Kimmel, Fallon).
And now I’m off to work.

I really like Corvus but they also scare me. There’s something about that whole trend for the “medieval” heavy metal in Europe that makes me think of Aryans and skinheads and the Old Forest. Is it just me?
