Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

Jack Smith: “Why did you start campaigning in the middle of my investigation?!”

Republicans don’t want a speaker to lead them; they want a hostage.

You don’t get to peddle hatred on saturday and offer condolences on sunday.

Republicans want to make it harder to vote and easier for them to cheat.

Hot air and ill-informed banter

Many life forms that would benefit from greater intelligence, sadly, do not have it.

If America since Jan 2025 hasn’t broken your heart, you haven’t loved her enough.

One lie, alone, tears the fabric of reality.

Our messy unity will be our strength.

Every one of the “Roberts Six” lied to get on the court.

Jesus watching the most hateful people claiming to be his followers

When you’re a Republican, they let you do it.

“I was told there would be no fact checking.”

I don’t recall signing up for living in a dystopian sci-fi novel.

People identifying as christian while ignoring christ and his teachings is a strange thing indeed.

Reality always gets a vote in the end.

“Loving your country does not mean lying about its history.”

The willow is too close to the house.

Michigan is a great lesson for Dems everywhere: when you have power…use it!

When your entire life is steeped in white supremacy, equality feels like discrimination.

The current Supreme Court is a dangerous, rogue court.

Fear and negativity are contagious, but so is courage!

There are consequences to being an arrogant, sullen prick.

If ‘weird’ was the finish line, they ran through the tape and kept running.

Since there is no Recipe Exchange today, this Turkey is your consolation prize:

… On Monday in Orlando, Fla., the Orange County Animal Services discovered the 3-month-old black kitten made a gobbling noise when she ate her meals. She was appropriately named Turkey.

The video ran on a local news station’s “Pet of the Week” segment in the hope that the gobbling kitty would be adopted.

Friday morning, Turkey finally went home with her new mom, according to Carolina Mlynarczyk, marketing and public relations coordinator with Orange County Animal Services.

I just seriously hope her new people appreciate a little girl who’s gonna have an opinion about everything…

No opera. No ballet. I guess I’ll have the car serviced, in anticipation of my forthcoming drive to Owen Sound and back again. (No, AL and efgoldman and muddy and others in the northeast, this is not the Grand Tour, this is just a quick trip to Ontario to visit my cousins for a few days.)

Wait. That cat is clearly black in color. So shouldn’t it be the responsibility of Black County Animal Services, rather than Orange? And why is everything color-coded now?

If you care about electronic privacy (or not), you can complete a two minute government survey here: http://www.whitehouse.gov

There’s even a box where you can write anything you want. Tell our President what he needs to know about Griftwald and Snowden the traitor. It won’t take any more time than it would take to make a post here. And while you may think that completing their survey is a complete waste of time, it’s still a gazillion times more likely to have an impact than posting your comments here.

Thanks. I’m not even sure yet when I’ll leave, how long I’ll be gone, when I’ll come back. Nice to be retired and not have to adhere to a rigid calendar!

I have a lot of bad memories of my time in Michigan, and have avoided it for the past three decades, scooting along I-75 only as long as necessary to get to the border crossing — but have decided to seek out some friends who remain in Flint, Saginaw, Bay City, Kalamazoo, and Battle Creek, and possibly put the old demons to rest. We’re none of us getting younger, and I don’t want to hang on to 30-year-old bitterness.

Well, since the job scene for Ph.D scientists is less than hot here in SF, and the main person limiting my next job search (my girlfriend) has decided to summarily dump me, I’m considering a cross-country relocation to Boston where there are more jobs!

After many years ignoring the 6-foot tall kitty tree (which they once practically lived in and on), my two have rediscovered it. Maybe moving it from the staircase to the sliding glass door helped. Oscar has taken to sleeping in the round tunnel thingie at the top, and Jeannie likes to perch on top of the round tunnel thingie and survey her realm. (She also likes to go up there and whack at Oscar when he emerges from slumber.)

In other news, I have discovered the apotheosis of popcorn. A specialty shop in Ballard called KuKuRuZa sells popcorn of many flavors, and Oh. My. FSM, the flavors. Their yellow cheddar flavor is drenched in real cheese; it’s like mac-and-cheese with popcorn instead of pasta. Their cinnamon is covered in cinnamon syrup and tastes like a Cinnabon.

It’s so rich you can’t eat more than a couple handfuls at a time, though I have made heroic efforts to do so. I think I’ve gained a couple pounds just in the last two days from the stuff…

Can’t wait to take some with me to social events and see the reaction. Seriously, this is amazing popcorn.

Probably dead thread, but just in case: Guessing some of you might be interested in supporting the Animal Rescue League of Boston team running the Boston Marathon this year: crowdrise.com/arl2014bostonmarathon
A young friend/former colleague is running–she’s from Boston and lived through those long few days (in the Back Bay) last year. As a lifelong animal lover/rescue advocate, she is psyched to have qualified to run on the team, and just as psyched to be able, after the events of last April at the finish line, to run the Boston Marathon to show support for her home town.
