    @Elizabelle: Wow, indeed. Unbelievable. Yeah, I’m running with the song reference — sorry about that. Don’t mind me, I’m punchy — three hours’ sleep. Got up at 5:20 and hit refresh over and over, and had a slapstick moment running to the phone to call my credit card company and tell them the overseas charge I was trying to put through wasn’t fraudulent. Paid way too much for a dinner/good seat ripoff package, but what the hell — when will I get to do this again?

    Edit: Ah, the website. Funny enough, I hadn’t visited the site before. I tend not to. Probably from being a fan from around 1980 — I’m still stuck in a pre-internet mindset. Way back then, you read about her in an import magazine, or you didn’t learn anything about her at all.

    I thought people were exaggerating the whole “CNN + Missing Plane” thing, but sure enough, it’s been their lead headline for at least 6 consecutive days (how long I’ve checked). The news has been “BREAKING” in gigantic font for that entire time, despite the fact that nothing really new has been discovered.

    At this point, can we assume they’re just trolling? Can they actually expect to be taken seriously when they’re treating a 3 week old nothingburger as if it’s the start of WW3 or an assissination of a political leader?

    @ruemara: Don’t know about other Asians, but sex selective abortions and female infanticide are definitely prevalent in India, and a huge problem in some of the northern states which have skewed gender ratios. I don’t see how they are going to enforce the law though.

    Can anyone explain wtf the deal is with w0ng way Cole? He mentioned some guy he sort of knows from way back was stopping in for a visit and here we are what…one, two months later and the guy is still here.

    Also did he ever get his car out of the field. Again, that whole thing was just wierd. Is Cole some cartoon character and not a real person? You would be hard pressed to make this shit up. The guy could have his own Seinfeld esque sitcom. A show about nothing….with pets and random people that just show up and don’t leave. Where things happen and instead of him dealing with it he just says, eh…instead of getting my car out of the field I’ll just get another one.

    You gotta embrace the silliness with Phish. They don’t take themselves too seriously. Haven’t been to a phish show since the 90s, but they were fun and irreverent. Fishman playing a vacuum and such. Was fortunate enough to see the 98 Halloween show in Vegas where the 2nd set was them playing VU’s Loaded.
    When phish comes up on the random shuffle these days, I’ll usually keep on shuffling. But have some good memories.

    @ruemara: I do see your point and hope you are right, some of these cultural traits, like preference for boys is hard to change. I remember reading a study that the south Asian communities in Britain have similar skewed gender ratios.
    I also agree that laws like the one SD do little if anything to address the issue.

    Thankfully, I have never heard a single Phish song or had to endure one of their concerts. I figure I’d been tortured enough by all my Deadhead friends incessantly insisting if I’d just listen to American Beauty enough times I’d finally get it and being stupid enough to think I had to attend a Dead concert just once to experience it. I lasted about 30 minutes before the BO stink and incessant “jamming” made me want to go all Charles Whitman on everyone in Three Rivers Stadium. Since Phish never even had a song that was played on the radio, I figure they have to suck even more than that. Hard to believe, but I’m sticking with that assessment.

    You should have a test comment or something directed at that dude which would show you did do that. Everything looks fine till I hit ‘submit comment’ and then the comment never appears where I or anyone (or him) can see it.

    @geg6: I’ve heard of Phish, but never heard anything by them. I think I can live with that. I’ve only heard the American Beauty album and that was a long time ago. I don’t go to concerts like that any longer. I’ve been to five concerts of different singers and groups and have been vomited on at four of those concerts. I think this is one of nature’s ways to tell me to stay the hell away from concerts, so I do, unless I can get some sort of no vomit clause.

Anways, we can do anything because we have magical internet powers. We have back doors into Word Press so we can control your mind (cue spooky music and grab your tin foil hat). The fact you cannot click on my posts and reply is all part of our absolute control through our back door into wordpress.

    One of my duties is to go to obscure backwater swamp shithole blog sites such as this one in order to spread my propaganda seed and influence the ‘masses’. So for Ball Juice that must be what? A few dozen regular visitors/cat calendar buyers at least!
