Of course cats aren’t bothered by sulking dogs. It’s like, so what?

Kiiiiitty! He is a seriously handsome fellow.
It’s 3 o’clock in the morning, and my kid’s hedgehog is on his squeaky exercise wheel, running, running, running his spikey little ass off. I don’t know how on earth the kiddo sleeps through the noise. Gonna have to oil that damn wheel.
I got nothin’ on your question. Just demonstrating solidarity at being up so late. I was thinking about watching the new episode of Justified from the DVR, but I think I really need to go to bed.
I know you’ve been feeling bad about your mother, Betty, and you have my sympathy. For my part, I don’t really have insomnia; I’ve just gotten into a pattern of bad “sleep hygiene” the past month or so. I sleep for a few hours before dawn, and I nap for a few hours in the late afternoon or early evening. It sort of works—surprisingly well, in fact—but I feel a little weird about it. And of course I can do it only because I don’t have a nine-to-five job.

@Wally Ballou:
I’ve known a lot of cats who are that way about tummy rubs; they present their soft underbellies to humans not to invite a tummy rub, but as an act of trust. But it’s an unusual cat that doesn’t like scritches under the chin. That said, if he really doesn’t like being scritched there, maybe you should just respect his wishes and not do it.

@Steeplejack: Thanks. I’ve got to get out of this sleepless cycle soon. Not sure how, though. I’ve had bouts of insomnia before, and I’m impervious to medical remedies.

I love Steve. He is a wonderful cat.

@magurakurin: Of course, this isn’t the first New Yorker cover by Mr. Blitt.
Great pic, John. Got any advice for how to get a kitteh to consent to a scritch under the chin? Because my little guy steadfastly refuses to allow it.
Betty Cracker
Two things: “Veep” is funny! Lots of swearing, so I can relate.
Also, is there a good iPhone app that functions as a universal remote? Free?

@Wally Ballou: I kind of thought that one was awesome, too.

I thought that Shawn was the dog whisperer? He’s not paying attention to Rosie?
