Silly Season must’ve come early this year. Gawker [warning: NSFW gif at top of comments] goes for the scare headline: “Sweet Jesus, Sarah Palin May Be Running for Senate This Year“:
… Mother Jones’ Andy Kroll noted yesterday that a possible Sarah Palin candidacy for senator is getting a boost from Dan Backer, the high-powered Tea Party attorney who just struck a blow for unlimited campaign donations in the Supreme Court’s recent McCutcheon v. FEC ruling…
Kroll points out that the email—which asks readers for an immediate donation to the PAC—could just be a cynical use of Palin’s name to generate funds for other uses. But he adds that Palin did show interest in the seat on Sean Hannity’s show last year, and with the Democrats’ thin Senate majority depending on races like this one, it’s thought her star power could give Republicans a needed win—in Alaska, and in the war to mobilize a nationwide voting base…
Ya think? Sarah Palin is no more running for President Senate than I am, and for exactly the same reason — neither of us wants to work that hard. I would hope “high-powered Tea Party attorney” Backer offers Sarah a kickback on whatever funds her name helps separate from the rubes, or at least some media face-time, but on the other hand, every public hissy-fit between rightwing grifters is a gift to the Alaskan Democrat:

As opposed to what Mother Jones is doing. ;-)

Pretty much. La Palin isn’t going to run for Senate any more than she’s going to run for President, and for the reason you pointed out. Even being on a local school board involves some, you know, actual work. In my observation Our Sarah is clearly more inclined to making a living in a less arduous fashion – to wit, separating the rubes from their money by any means necessary that don’t involve actual effort other than generating fundraising appeals. Which I have to admit is a semi-worthy and relatively harmless endeavor for her; if they’re giving their money to Snowbilly Snooki they’re not spending it on ammunition and semi-automatic weapons. Nothing new about the approach, it’s a tried and true practice well-honed by Oral Roberts, Pat Robertson* and many another religious grifter.
*Sidebar – is it my imagination, or is Pat Robertson’s rictus grin even more unsettling than Bill Kristol’s? I’ve seen many a picture of Pat Robertson, and he seems to have the exact same expression in every one of them. Gloating, no doubt, over the supposed certainty of nonbelievers – those being people who don’t send money to Pat Robertson – burning in hell for all eternity.

I always wonder how Republicans can live with the shame of having once voted for her. And then I remember, they have no shame.

The other reason she won’t run is she’d lose….and that would tarnish her brand even more.

Bloomberg has a new gun control initiative. Spending about $50 million or so.

Cornealious “Mike” Anderson was sentenced to 13 years in prison for a St. Charles County armed robbery in 2000, but when nobody told him to report to jail, he went on with his life.
He became a carpenter, got married, had four children and started his own construction business.
Then last summer, just about the time Anderson would have finished serving his sentence, someone at the Department of Corrections noticed a clerical error. Anderson, who on paper had been incarcerated, had never been in prison.
Marshals found Anderson in Webster Groves, at the address listed on his drivers license, and sent him to prison to serve his sentence.
The moral of the story? Once you get sucked into the system, you are fwcked. The system never forgets.

I just find myself saddened that performance artist/bomb hoaxer Kayvon wasn’t bullied more in school. After watching his video, it occurred to me that bullying does tend to crush the candy-assed hopes, dreams, fantasies and aspirations of would-be performance artists before they bloom into the shitty, annoying people they become.
In any event, more bullying would have, at minimum, prepared him for his next several years’ worth of time, and how to cope with the pain of rib kicks.
Cue great weeping and wailing about his expression and “how dare you encourage bullying of such a sensitive soul” in 3-2-1….

Palin will never run for anything. She’ll make noises about running for senate, and she’ll do LOTS of fundraising. But once she gets enough money rounded up, she’ll decide that “Trig needs me” or some other homey-sounding nonsense will prevent her from running. But not from keeping the money.
Iowa Old Lady
I love the way most people snicker when Palin is mentioned. She’s become a joke, which means she’s done.
Jack the Second
Eh. Sarah Palin would not be any worse than nearly any current Republican member of the House or Senate.

Princess Sarah has a pretty sweet gig going. She ain’t giving that up. She gets flown around first class or charter, rides in limos, giving a few 20 minute speeches to adoring crowds. She then has private meetings with men whose legs she apparently sends a tingle up. For all this she makes at least a seven figure income. All she has to do for this is make sure she looks hawt enough and watch some Fox shows to keep up with the latest outrage and hire a ghostwriter and speechwriter.
PurpleGirl
@Jack the Second: While that may or may not be true, we must add to the number of Democratic senators.

@mai naem mobile:
All she has to do for this is make sure she looks hawt enough…
That’s becoming harder and harder to do as she ages. She has been trying various things with make-up and clothes and all she manages to do is look trashy. And really, that isn’t the tingle she wants to send up male Republicans’ legs.
Paul in KY
@OzarkHillbilly: He should have shown up himself. He knew he’d been convicted & had to serve. If they don’t show up, you have to go in (as the sentence ain’t getting voided).

Just going to leave this here.

@PurpleGirl: Oh, I’m sure trashy would work just fine for some of them…
Yatsuno
@PurpleGirl: Begich would be a hold. Grimes and Nunn, however, would be gains. In the South. In an off-year election. That’s HUGE.

I doubt Palin is running, but I wouldn’t bet the rent money against it. Being a senator is, or at least can be, way easier than being president. Especially with McCain as a role model, she might think its easy enough to bother doing. And in fact it might be.
But she’d only run if she were assured of winning, and she most certainly isn’t. In fact, Alaska may be one if the places where she’s most despised.

Cartoonists should be careful what they wish for. Trump would immediately outlaw laughing at him.

It’s not the kind of NSFW you’d think, but it is an amazing gif.
