Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

We cannot abandon the truth and remain a free nation.

I’ve spoken to my cat about this, but it doesn’t seem to do any good.

A thin legal pretext to veneer over their personal religious and political desires.

Historically it was a little unusual for the president to be an incoherent babbling moron.

Republicans are radicals, not conservatives.

Live so that if you miss a day of work people aren’t hoping you’re dead.

Insiders who complain to politico: please report to the white house office of shut the fuck up.

The arc of the moral universe does not bend itself. it is up to us to bend it.

Since when do we limit our critiques to things we could do better ourselves?

If you cannot answer whether trump lost the 2020 election, you are unfit for office.

Bark louder, little dog.

There is no compromise when it comes to body autonomy. You either have it or you do not.

JFC, are there no editors left at that goddamn rag?

I desperately hope that, yet again, i am wrong.

After dobbs, women are no longer free.

One way or another, he’s a liar.

You can’t attract Republican voters. You can only out organize them.

Giving in to doom is how authoritarians win.

When someone says they “love freedom”, rest assured they don’t mean yours.

Nothing worth doing is easy.

If you can’t control your emotions, someone else will.

Not rolling over. fuck you, make me.

Republicans cannot even be trusted with their own money.

75% of people clapping liked the show!

I haven’t watched hockey in a long time but they seem to be bad asses. They don’t need to be tall or big. They do need to be able to skate and to take a beating every time they go to the ice. And all those missing teeth–it’s just the cost of doing business.

@Omnes Omnibus (the first of his name): It’s amazing that these guys used to fly around the ice with their freak flags and sideburns and no helmuts and bladed feet, kicking the shit out of each other. When I was a youngster in Maryland, my parents brought us to a Washington Capitols game, but we left, to my dismay, when a fight broke out between the teams and just didn’t stop for fifteen minutes.

I read that Ty Cobb used to sharpen his cleats so when he slid into a base with his feet up his opponents would be intimidated. I don’t think the sharpening was necessary. Everyone knew to get out of his way. He was a bastard, but probably the best ballplayer of all time at smallball. Then Ruth came along and fucked it all up.
