Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

Whoever he was, that guy was nuts.

Republican obstruction dressed up as bipartisanship. Again.

Anyone who bans teaching American history has no right to shape America’s future.

This blog will pay for itself.

The cruelty is the point; the law be damned.

Reality always lies in wait for … Democrats.

He seems like a smart guy, but JFC, what a dick!

I like you, you’re my kind of trouble.

The willow is too close to the house.

… riddled with inexplicable and elementary errors of law and fact

Since when do we limit our critiques to things we could do better ourselves?

It’s easy to sit in safety and prescribe what other people should be doing.

Incompetence, fear, or corruption? why not all three?

Trump’s legal defense is going to be a dumpster fire inside a clown car on a derailing train.

We cannot abandon the truth and remain a free nation.

Putin dreamed of ending NATO, and now it’s Finnish-ed.

We’ve had enough carrots to last a lifetime. break out the sticks.

Take hopelessness and turn it into resilience.

This year has been the longest three days of putin’s life.

I’m sure you banged some questionable people yourself.

I’d hate to be the candidate who lost to this guy.

Historically it was a little unusual for the president to be an incoherent babbling moron.

How can republicans represent us when they don’t trust women?

We’ll be taking my thoughts and prayers to the ballot box.

    Well, it still beats toddling.

I’ve had to reactivate Adblock on this site because a script kept getting stuck and freezing Firefox. Presumably there’s a problem with the feeding of the ad server hamsters or some such. Maybe someone will see this and be able to do something, so that John Cole will not be deprived of ad-revenue share.

@Amir Khalid: The latest version of Chrome won’t run “TrollBeGone”. It will only run scripts from the “Chrome Store”. Couldn’t it just tell me I have a “risky” script and let me make the decision? No the folk in Mountain View have to approve.

30 minutes and Cole hasn’t stomped the thread yet.

@BillinGlendaleCA: Yeah, I had any number of scripts I wrote for my own use to make my life easier when chrome decided to break itself and stop working. Happily they all still work on firefox, and frankly, firefox has always been much less of a pain in the ass to write for any way.

And don’t get me started on google’s broken DHCP implementation.

DJ Earworm! Fun. One of my favorites of his is “Promiscuous Lola” http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=0Kcfxoju-SM

I’m at work. Just arrived at Anchorage Intl Airport for business.

It’s 4 am eastern, but I’ve been innSan Francisco since Tuesday, so it’s only sort of 1am. But I’ve been up since 5.

That remix has a little extra junk at the front, but it gets going about a minute in. I think the most seamless mix he’s done is “No One Takes Your Freedom” https://soundcloud.com/aceywilliams/no-one-takes-your-freedom-dj

@Elmo: Well, at least it’s not dark up there. I’ve been to Anchorage quite a bit on bidness.

ETA: Unfortunately, not always in the summer.

@Betty Cracker: I give the pups big marrow bones on Friday (well, Saturday morning to keep them quiet at the farmers market too) and for the first time Bohdi decided it would be fun to drag one in the bedroom at 2am and chow down. Knuckle head.

Hmm, strange British spelling on the Guardian:

“on day 10, one of the favourites look to hit back at critics of their slow start – but do Iran have other ideas?”

@Betty Cracker: Yes, but the real mistake is the “look” — “one of the favo[u]rites” is singular on both sides of the pond. (The “their,” as you say, is arguable.)

@Betty Cracker: They are knuckle heads too. My bride has been working like a dog to get ready for a week long “art camp” starting tomorrow. She’s going to a fabric dying course and the prep has been extensive.
