Can the Dutch seal the group against Chile? Can either Spain or Australia redeem itself?

I think Chile might give the Dutch quite a battle here. I wouldn’t be surprised to see Spain slump against Australia.

Either way, it’s all in the hands of Amir Khalid now.

I wonder what kind of burnt offering would please the soccer deity?

The Chile-Netherlands game should be juicy and fun. Sadly, I have a lunch date in 15 minutes and will miss most of the match.

I thought Chile & Ned both qualified already; 6 pts. each vs 0 for Spain & Aus. What is the incentive to win? Next round seeding?

Does Australia really need to redeem themselves? I thought they looked better than expected while taking their entirely predictable losses.

    Spain, now…

@p.a.: The loser of the Chile vs Netherlands game will most likely have to face Brazil in the first game of the next round. Winner will most likely face Mexico or Croatia.

It’s already been decided who’s going on and who’s going home, so there’s really not much for a football deity to do here. Maybe I could have Chile beat the Netherlands by a two-goal margin or better, for a surprise group winner. Maybe I could have Australia thrash Spain, just to really rub it in for the no-longer-defending champions.
ETA: Or maybe I could have Spain wake up two matches too late and miss the competition.

I like the “golden” rums. Mount Gay (from Barbados) is my go-to; it’s widely available. Barbancourt (from Haiti) is also very good, but a little harder to find. If you want a really dark rum—not recommended for rookies—Gosling’s Black Seal (from Bermuda).

And a goal for the Nether Regions too. Chile will now need two goals in 15 minutes to win Group B.
Meanwhile, Cesc Fibreglass (did I spell that right?) makes it 3-0 Spain — who will now go home asking themselves, “Why didn’t we play like that before?”

    You clearly have better timing.

However, I have decided to salvage things by taking direct credit for the goal, under the theory that the Oranje can only score if I’m not watching.
