Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

Since when do we limit our critiques to things we could do better ourselves?

Seems like a complicated subject, have you tried yelling at it?

This blog will pay for itself.

It’s the corruption, stupid.

… riddled with inexplicable and elementary errors of law and fact

Let me eat cake. The rest of you could stand to lose some weight, frankly.

Meanwhile over at truth Social, the former president is busy confessing to crimes.

Anyone who bans teaching American history has no right to shape America’s future.

We’ve had enough carrots to last a lifetime. break out the sticks.

It’s always darkest before the other shoe drops.

I’d hate to be the candidate who lost to this guy.

Happy indictment week to all who celebrate!

That’s my take and I am available for criticism at this time.

An almost top 10,000 blog!

I really should read my own blog.

It’s easy to sit in safety and prescribe what other people should be doing.

Whatever happens next week, the fight doesn’t end.

“Squeaker” McCarthy

You don’t get to peddle hatred on saturday and offer condolences on sunday.

Take hopelessness and turn it into resilience.

Fuck these fucking interesting times.

But frankly mr. cole, I’ll be happier when you get back to telling us to go fuck ourselves.

Today’s GOP: why go just far enough when too far is right there?

Good lord, these people are nuts.

Saw my physician today, and tomorrow I will be heading to the hospital for some ultrasounds and other tests re: the hernia, and then getting locked up in the big house for a while.

See you all on the other side.

    Hey John,

I hope treatment goes well for you. I did outpatient (evenings) back about 2002 and it did help.

I think the key after getting out is to build a supportive network of fellows who get where you’re at and you can do the mutual support thing with ’em.

Being alone on a post-treatment path is, IMO, a tougher road to choose.

Best to you! … And enjoy the institutional food! (Oh, wait, you were in the military, you know how that goes…)

YAY re the spot being open!

The worst assignment I had in a group in treatment was making a list of 50 yes fifty! good qualities about myself. We were all flummoxed. The counselor said, “GOOD qualities. You have ’em but aren’t used to looking at them. I don’t want to hear about your bad qualities, you could all give me a list of 500 bad qualities in no time flat!” Dang. We all stalled out after three or four.

The other toughie was an assignment in the outpatient aftercare to go visit my parents and hug them. Damn! Worse than the gut-wrenching soul-baring crazy stuff for this standard-model upper Midwest Scandahoovian. Hugging Just Isn’t Done! (Obviously, I survived. And now hugging in my extended family is the norm)

Goddammit. I finally get moved in and have some time to read my favorite blog and fucking Cole is going to rehab. After nearly five months of a hellish commute for a new job after 7 months laid off and Cole is going to rehab. Listen jackass you better get this right the first time because after my longest time away from this place over 12 years I want some goddamn Cole on a regular basis, so that means get better and get back here.

Tunch is indeed watching over you, and he was joined this am by my cat, Puffy, an adult rescue I adopted fifteen years ago.

I like to think the Puff is finally being reunited with the mother that I am sure he was taken from too young (for he always liked milk and otherwise behaved like a still-needy kitten) but in between frolicking with his long-lost mother he is joining Tunch to send purrs in your general direction.

Even in his last illness, if you made upset noises like crying or said anything in an upset tone of voice, he’d totter over to lean against you and purr. He knew that was a value to his human, and he never failed to supply it when he thought it was necessary.

So I am sure he is watching over with you along with Tunch and all the other beloved departed pets of Balloon Juice.
