Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

Sadly, there is no cure for stupid.

I really should read my own blog.

The worst democrat is better than the best republican.

This year has been the longest three days of putin’s life.

Don’t expect peaches from an apple tree.

We’re not going back!

We still have time to mess this up!

Thanks to your bullshit, we are now under siege.

Come on, man.

I didn’t have alien invasion on my 2023 BINGO card.

Let there be snark.

I conferred with the team and they all agree – still not tired of winning!

Wow, I can’t imagine what it was like to comment in morse code.

Stop using mental illness to avoid talking about armed white supremacy.

After roe, women are no longer free.

It’s time for the GOP to dust off that post-2012 autopsy, completely ignore it, and light the party on fire again.

Technically true, but collectively nonsense

“I never thought they’d lock HIM up,” sobbed a distraught member of the Lock Her Up Party.

We’ve had enough carrots to last a lifetime. break out the sticks.

Anyone who bans teaching American history has no right to shape America’s future.

That’s my take and I am available for criticism at this time.

A consequence of cucumbers

The willow is too close to the house.

And now I have baud making fun of me. this day can’t get worse.

Poor dog. It must be humiliated.

Excited about the deep dive portion of my advanced scuba certification today. Eight am is the time. doing something below 100′. Did a wreck of a DC3 and navigation yesterday, passed through a really nice, tight canyon with lots of overhang as well. I think we do a drift dive a little later in the morning.

    Indignities? Oh, hell, yeah.

    From 50 Sheds of Grey:

‘You make my panties so wet!’ she squirmed. ‘Don’t blame me’ I said ‘You should’ve taken them off the line before I turned on the sprinkler’
    –

Frantically I tore off her dress, bra and knickers. My heart was racing but I just managed to close the wardrobe door before she got home.
    –

She stared up, bound and naked. ‘I think I’m ready for the ball gag’ she whimpered. ‘Alright’ I said ‘Why was Cinderella no good at soccer?’

A friend of mine had her Old English sheepdog shaved for summer, but her usual groomer was on vacation and the substitute botched the job. She shaved him so closely that my friend couldn’t let him stay outside long for fear of sunburn. He was humiliated, too, and wouldn’t go for walks for a while. You could see his pink skin!

I got my layoff check the next day. As I was walking off the job site my foreman said, “Don’t worry, you’ll be back in a couple of weeks.”

See Mickey Z’s (Michael Zezima’s) The Murdering of My Years:

Work in the early twenty-first century is a bruise on the heart of every American. With the rare exception of people fortunate enough to have a job they are fulfilled by and enjoy, time spent at work is an unpleasant (often debilitating and unhealthy) trade-off to obtain basic necessities such as food and housing. Work, like the proverbial death and taxes, is not a choice. Most workers experience a range of feelings about their jobs, from deep-seated resentment to sadness and a sense of injustice to moments of rare joy. Work is a fifty year fugue from which people occasionally awake, wondering where their lives went; time spent working is a series of murdered years.

    Bosco, Bosco.

We had a poodle of kinda the same shade, and late in life, you would think Charlie was put together from vacuum bag lint. That is what his photos resemble.

Why not finish the cut, with Bosco’s head and face, and let him grow back for the fall?

My parents always kept their miniature poodles in puppy cuts. No topiary for us.

Smart, smart dogs, but the last one (the smartest) bit my nephews so frequently and enthusiastically that the word “poodle” brings a fear face.

    Democrats ask: Where’s FLOTUS?
    By EDWARD-ISAAC DOVERE | 7/29/14 6:56 PM EDT Updated: 7/30/14 8:03 AM EDT

First lady Michelle Obama is the most popular member of the Obama administration, and Democrats say she’s the one they want to see more of in the midterms.

She’s a woman and an African-American, with a direct appeal to two groups that the Democrats need to turn out in major numbers in November. She can bring the Obama brand without the baggage of President Barack Obama himself. She can go to states where he can’t. She’s a fresh draw for donors and voters.

So where is she? Democrats want an answer — they desperately need the help, and especially the cash.

@Elizabelle: Agree. I don’t really understand why a groomer would cut a dog like this unless it was full of mats and heading to the shelter.

Finish it up with a longer clip on Bosco’s head. Scissor shape the face and he’ll be cute and happy the entire time he grows back out.

No-kill cat shelter in Pittsboro NC in danger of closing.

They’re in a battle with a RWNJ neighbor and couldn’t do their annual spring fundraisers. The vet bills are piling up, and they are having trouble meeting payroll. They put out an urgent beg for donations on their FB page this morning. As usual, it wouldn’t take much from each person if we could get enough people donating. Any help, financial or publicity, would be appreciated.

My kitteh (aka Momcat, mom of other kittehs in my household) has a skin condition that makes her tend to chew and overgroom. She got a clip on the back end to relieve itching and remove a lot of matts and now goes by the moniker “Poodle-Butt.”

We’ve been having an unusually cool summer this year. (Late July in New Jersey is usually a hell-hole of heat and humidity.) But my dog will still wake up in the wee hours panting. I tell her ‘if you’re that hot, get out of your fluffy bean-bag bed and stretch out.” She looks at me like ‘lay on the floor? Are you mad?’ And curls back up in her bed.

Four Tochka missiles were fired by the Ukies at Saur Moglia where a number of Ukrainian soldiers are trapped in the “Southern Cauldron”. A Tochka missile carries a payload of something like 500 kilos.

None of them hit their targets.

    The war goes on.

By the way, has Ukraine revealed the air controller tapes or their radar yet? Has the US released its satellite pictures of the airliner getting shot down? Heck, what’s the hurry?

Does anyone not think that all the accusations against Russia is an orchestrated attempt by the US to demonize Russia and Putin?
