Figured I better post something before Tim hits us with more Zeppelin. Oh look — a dog!
I can’t believe it’s already Thursday, but I’m happy about it as I have Big Fun on the agenda this weekend.
Please feel free to discuss anything at all.

Now he’s going to post LZ’s Black Dog.
Before that happens I will repeat my request for hotel suggestions – Amherst, MA.

We’re probably going apartment hunting this weekend. It will be over 100 degrees. Funzies!
ETA: Also, too, I am lame and behind on my blog essays. I will alert folks when I finally have Night Nurse done.

The cafeteria at work is serving chili con carne at lunch today. They do it about every other Thursday. If I add a tablespoon of Tabasco and some of the Bueno green chile that I brought from home, it will approximate the chili stew I used to make when I lived in Albuquerque.
No one here knows how to make posole, though, and I have to go to Homestead for the ingredients.

@Shakezula: Are you interested in bed and breakfasts? There is one on Main Street where Robert Frost used to live.

Is that Patsy Marie in the picture? She looks like she wants a treat. And being a good goggie, she deserves a treat (or two). A beautiful goggie.

Your dog looks sweet, give her whatever she wants.

@schrodinger’s cat: Thanks, I’m not picky and have never stayed in a US B&B. I will search that out.

It’s been well-established that the financial and military nerve centers of our nation were successfully attacked by extremists. So the questions we should continue asking ourselves, and each other, is, “Which extremists pulled it off?”

Grr, DSL is down, router failed over to the Verizon LTE through a MiFi modem. Hope it doesn’t take too long to fix.

Sunset over Savannah.

@Shakezula: There is also a Howard Johnson and a Holiday Inn in Hadley, just outside Amherst.

Denver might have snow tonight.

@raven: Nice photo.
We live in the Denver area; yesterday I was out on a lake paddling around on glassy water on a perfect early fall/late summer day, and tonight it will be snowing and my potted veggies will be hanging out in the garage for the night. Mountain weather – we have it.
I am so, so, so very happy that my husband is flying home tomorrow after nearly 3 weeks at his dad’s/brother’s, helping out after brother’s lymphoma diagnosis. Talk about frustrating. His brother can barely hobble around and needs a wheelchair to get from a car to various Dr. appointments so that is what my husband has been helping with (actual radiation therapy starts next week). That’s not the source of the frustration; the problem is that my BIL is refusing to accept hiring a service to drive him, get the wheelchair, etc., and help around the house once my husband leaves. We’re going to pay for it, but he is insanely afraid of possible stealing and/or ID theft if he lets them go get the mail so he is adamantly refusing ANY help.
My husband had the service rep come by and explain things (like what “bonded” means), and after that told his brother that if he can’t accept hired professional while he needs it, then he needs to work out his own solution. His brother is 54 years old but acts like a paranoid dementia patient right now because of being incredibly angry at being diagnosed with cancer. We are trying hard to be helpful and sympathetic as we can be; it just gets a bit tiring given the reaction to everything is various levels of rage. My husband has stayed as long as he can, but he has to get back to work if he wants to keep his job.

@StringOnAStick: Good lord, you have had more than your share of shitty luck lately. Your husband is a good man to devote so much time to helping his brother. If the brother won’t accept further help, there’s nothing y’all can do about it. You did all you could.

Our new pup, Yorky/Havanese mix is making great progress in attending to matters of personal hygiene, aka “going outside”. We are happy

Can this pup play Stairway To Heaven? No? What about Black Dog?

I have an irritant. Let me explain as I see it should be.
Hi, my name is kindness. I’m a Sully reader. I have fallen off the wagon repeatedly and for some reason keep reading the guy. God how much I want to get back on that wagon. Thankfully of late Sully has been making that a much more doable prospect. For what ever reason a month off helped Andrew find the old Andrew that pisses us off the most. You know, the one who states truths about a subject and then goes and brays support for those trying hardest to lie about those truths to further their own agenda. You’d think a week at Burning Man, tripping out on mushrooms and what have you would have opened his mind. It didn’t. It brought him back to a place I can’t stand. I’m here today to try to kick my ugly habit. God knows it is as good for me as NPR is now days. Sad but true. With your help I hope to go on, one day at a time to the point where I am no longer tortured by the demons I chose to bring upon myself. Thanks all for your support.

@kindness: I read Sully for years, even when he was a full-metal wingnut. His paywall finally allowed me to delete the bookmark for good.

@Betty Cracker: That’s where we are at right now: we’ve done what we could, and if he asks for help later we’ll be there for him. I’m just glad my husband/best friend/light of my life is on his way home soon!
