Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

Why did Dr. Oz lose? well, according to the exit polls, it’s because Fetterman won.

Whatever happens next week, the fight doesn’t end.

Meanwhile over at truth Social, the former president is busy confessing to crimes.

Sitting here in limbo waiting for the dice to roll

And now I have baud making fun of me. this day can’t get worse.

When I decide to be condescending, you won’t have to dream up a fantasy about it.

Being the leader of the world means to be the leader of peace.

Black Jesus loves a paper trail.

“Squeaker” McCarthy

Our job is not to persuade republicans but to defeat them.

Let’s not be the monsters we hate.

Wow, you are pre-disappointed. How surprising.

Incompetence, fear, or corruption? why not all three?

Shallow, uninformed, and lacking identity

If you tweet it in all caps, that makes it true!

We cannot abandon the truth and remain a free nation.

Perhaps you mistook them for somebody who gives a damn.

Come on, man.

I really should read my own blog.

Let’s delete this post and never speak of this again.

Usually wrong but never in doubt

A sufficient plurality of insane, greedy people can tank any democratic system ever devised, apparently.

A Senator Walker would also be an insult to reason, rationality, and decency.

Bark louder, little dog.

Friday the thirteenth falls on a Saturday, as Churchy LaFemme would say. I’ve made a reservation at Donahue’s Bar, under “Balloon Juice”…

Where: Donahue’s, 87 Bigelow Avenue, Watertown, Massachusetts

Directions
From the Mass Pike and Watertown Sq.
* Take Exit 17 towards Watertown Sq. to Route 16, Mt. Auburn St. Take Mt. Auburn St. for approximately 1 1/2 miles. Pass Victoria Spa, Watertown Sunoco and take the next right at the lights on Bigelow Ave. Donohue’s is down to the end of the street on the right.

From Storrow Drive/Allston/Brighton
* Heading west on Storrow Drive follow it becomes Solider Field Rd. right turn on Western Ave. which become Arsenal St once you are over the Charles River. At the second set of lights (at the top of the hill) take a right on to Arlington St., follow Arlington St. to the next set of lights and take a left and then your next right and you’re there.

From MBTA
* Take the No. 71 Bus out of Watertown Sq. or Harvard Sq. and get off at Bigelow Ave. stop and it is just a 4 minute walk down to Bigelow Ave. to number 87, look for the building with the big the red door on your right and you’re there.

When: Saturday, Sept. 13, 5pm – ???

Confirmed attendees, at the moment: Me, the Spousal Unit, commentor EFGoldman & Mrs. EFGoldman, honored guest SiubhanDuinne from Atlanta, commentors Lahke (if you’re early enough), Grillo, and Qkslverwolf, lurkers Peter P & Thomas D. Probable/possibles: front-pager Tom L and commentor ThresherK.

Leave a comment (or email me) if you think you’ll be coming. Lurkers and guests welcome — look for the short fat woman in the straw hat. (I’ll get some green balloons if we have time tomorrow afternoon. )

The green balloons are a great recognition symbol. At least they’ve worked well for me.

Besides the meet and greet stuff, there will be plenty to talk about. If you don’t want to talk about the NFL, you can talk about Sanford and sons and mean wife Jenny, ISIL, or whether or not you want to invite the Palins to your next party. Have fun.

Not for nothing, but Donahue’s already has a little history to call its own.

    @JPL:

Start a brawl with that neighboring table of dorky-looking dart players and have Anne Laurie scream, “Do you know who I am?!”

@JPL: as much (deserved) shit as the palins got over their fight, I’m typically of the school of thought that a party isn’t really a success unless somebody throws a punch.

For me it was the “do you know who I am” bullshit that was the problem

Hmm. On my screen, you’re name is capitalized, but when I hit reply, it’s in lowercase.

What kind of voodoo is this?

Shall be on the North Shore of Lawnguyland from (roughly) the 18th through the 25th.

Local watering hole there which used to favor is but a memory.

But if any Noo Yawkahs or suboibanites interested and know of a place, might contemplate a meet-up (would prefer to avoid going into Manhattan, if possible).

D*mmit!! Why don’t people remind me of these things?! Go dark for a week ’cause, y’know, new job with long commute, and all sorts of stuff occur. A Palin brawl, too? Where’s the d*mned idiot bat signal??

Mark me maybe; gotta figure out where the devil is Watertown…
