Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

Speaker Mike Johnson is a vile traitor to the House and the Constitution.

I desperately hope that, yet again, i am wrong.

I would try pessimism, but it probably wouldn’t work.

Republican speaker of the house Mike Johnson is the bland and smiling face of evil.

What’s up today? I just got back from running the dogs, who collapsed in panting heaps as soon as we came back through the door.

There are some interesting college football match ups today, including Georgia vs Tennessee (Go Dawgs!) and South Florida vs Wisconsin (Go Bulls! — but the Badgers will likely win). My own Florida Gators simply cannot lose today (because they aren’t playing).

I’m hoping NC State pantses the ‘Noles. Will Stanford or Washington prevail in the PAC 12? I have no idea, but if I were a betting woman, I’d lay a few quid on Washington with the points. Mizzou and South Carolina should be a huge game this evening. I’m rooting for the ‘Cocks.

Those are the points scored by Georgia’s offense in every home game since Todd Gurley’s been on the roster. With Aaron Murray. Without Aaron Murray. Day games. Night games. Against cupcakes. Against SEC powerhouses. Games when Georgia’s showed up. Games when Georgia hasn’t shown up so much. SEC on CBS games. Pay per view games.

Games with Todd Gurley and games without Todd Gurley, for that matter. “

@raven: I hate noon games. I’m not a morning person. Tailgating in the morning is not fun. But perhaps it will stay overcast through the game and won’t be too miserably hot. And no injuries! Please!

Also, cite your source, man, with the Gurley stats. The Senator took the time to make us all feel better (about this season…next looks scary without the kid).

eta: running late; will check back post-game. Guys in front of us live in Chicago, are missing the game due to the fire at O’Hare. I can’t imagine how furious I’d be.

And I’m kind of with the Senator: Given all the things we know about both teams, we really should go into this thing expecting to win and win big, but the fans (at least the ones at GTP) are apprehensive. I hope like hell Tennessee doesn’t end up proving that apprehension warranted. If this game is even close, I’d say we might very well be in for a long-ass season.

@Linnaeus: Yeah. Michigan might just be bad enough that we win today. It would be the third time we’ve beaten Michigan since I came up here in 1986. (I grew up in Ann Arbor and my father is on the faculty.) We did it my freshman year, when Michigan was ranked #1, and I thought it would be at least a semi-regular occurrence. Then the putrescence that is Golden Gopher football asserted itself.

The other funny thing is that over those 28 years, our only recoveries of the Jug were in the Big House.

@raven: A lot of the top teams don’t look as good as they did last year really. FSU looks worse, still good but worse. I don’t think Alabama is as good. I haven’t seen Auburn or Oklahoma yet, and Oregon is giving mixed signals. Texas A&M might be better, surprisingly. Michigan State is about where they were, Wisconsin, Stanford, LSU,and Ohio State all look worse. UCLA may turn out all right, though Arizona State is screwed without Taylor Kelly. Their secondary is terribad and it’ll be harder for them to outscore people without him.
