Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

No one could have predicted…

🎶 Those boots were made for mockin’ 🎵

You cannot shame the shameless.

Republicans in disarray!

Fuck the extremist election deniers. What’s money for if not for keeping them out of office?

Usually wrong but never in doubt

I’ve spoken to my cat about this, but it doesn’t seem to do any good.

When I decide to be condescending, you won’t have to dream up a fantasy about it.

“Everybody’s entitled to be an idiot.”

… pundit janitors mopping up after the GOP

Why is it so hard for them to condemn hate?

They’re not red states to be hated; they are voter suppression states to be fixed.

Why did Dr. Oz lose? well, according to the exit polls, it’s because Fetterman won.

Reality always lies in wait for … Democrats.

Nancy smash is sick of your bullshit.

So it was an October Surprise A Day, like an Advent calendar but for crime.

Do not shrug your shoulders and accept the normalization of untruths.

Second rate reporter says what?

Eh, that’s media spin. biden’s health is fine and he’s doing a good job.

The party of Reagan has become the party of Putin.

Let us savor the impending downfall of lawless scoundrels who richly deserve the trouble barreling their way.

You don’t get rid of your umbrella while it’s still raining.

But frankly mr. cole, I’ll be happier when you get back to telling us to go fuck ourselves.

The republican caucus is already covering themselves with something, and it’s not glory.

Sorry for the lack of posts- Homecoming is this weekend and it is the 25 year one for a bunch of my brothers, so we have been racing around cleaning, cooking, and making sure there are ample places to crash. Figure I have room for about ten people, and then my friend Walt is taking couples in at his house.

Don’t forget, your chance to win Omaha Steaks is dwindling. Each ticket purchased goes to help defray the costs of insurance and mandated nationals travel. The drawing is less than 48 hours away!

I’ll check in tomorrow. GO PENGUINS!

    Okay it would have been bad, very bad, crossing the streams bad, had McCain and Palin been elected, rationally I know this.

    On a pure entertainment level though you can’t help but feel just a little wistful about what might have been. I mean, this could easily have been on the WH lawn.

    officers described a moment where Todd Palin and his daughter Willow apparently got involved in yet another altercation with the owner of the house, Korey Klingenmeyer, while police were watching.

    “Todd Palin came walking back to the driveway confronting Corey (sic) asking him if he called his daughter a ‘bitch,'” one officer wrote in the report. “Willow Palin walked up and also got involved flipping Corey off and getting loud.

    It would have been like the Kennedys playing touch football with their extended family, except instead of touch football it would have been drunken brawls, and instead of the extended family it would have been with neighbors.

    I don’t even know what neighbors there are, maybe people from 1400 Pennsylvania Ave.

    Looks like WV did something right today – the state AG gave in and said they wouldn’t sue to stop same-sex marriage in the state.

    Now, if only they wouldn’t elect Capito Moore in November…but that’s probably asking too much.

    I am severely enjoying how the GOP is now scrambling to defend SD and KS in the Senate. I honestly think this is indicative of the bigger picture – the lack of good polling (there have been a lot of astroturf GOP polls, and even the ‘reliable’ pollsters have had some weird numbers this cycle) makes it really difficult to put where things really are.

    There should be more horse-race posts now that we’re a month out, and maybe a BJ effort to raise some money for worthy candidates? I felt like there was more of that activism a few years back.

    It seems obvious to me that Herschel Walker didn’t want to do what he did. For all his years at the University of Georgia, he flirted with turning pro. He talked about it, but he never went all the way. But when the agent made the contact with New Jersey for Walker, he was automatically ineligible. When his coach, Vince Dooley, and the university found out about the dealings, they were going to do what they had to do and declare him ineligible.”

    Pinkwashing: Fracking Company Teams Up With Susan G. Komen to ‘End Breast Cancer Forever’

    I can’t even believe this is real.

    The carcinogenic dangers of fracking begin at the job site and extend far beyond. They include silica dust (a lung carcinogen); volatile organic air pollutants (linked to lymphoma); radioactive wastes, such as radon and radium (lung and breast cancers again); and drinking water contaminants, such as arsenic and brominated byproducts (both bladder carcinogens). Indeed, cancer hazards are present at every stage of the drilling, fracking, processing, and distribution process.

    Between Luck, Foster, and Watt, there is some real talent on the field in Houston tonight. Virtuoso performances being turned in by each.

    And the Hawks played the third like it was the regular season. But not enough. 2-2 to send it to overtime.

    @Omnes Omnibus:

    I was pleased to see this news earlier today. It seemed like a crazy idea to try and implement a new voter ID law while elections are already taking place. Obviously I’m opposed to voter ID laws at any time but this seemed especially egregious.

    @WereBear:

    I’ve often thought Black Velvet Elvis would make an excellent band name…some sleazy southern bar band, with twin lead guitars and a horn section.

    There was/is a local rockabilly band called Bigger Than Elvis, with a lead guitarist/vocalist who is not only bigger than Elvis but may well be bigger than Graceland. A seriously big dude, who sings like Roy Orbison and plays excellent psychobilly guitar…

    @MomSense: The law has been on the books but under challenge since 2011.

    @danielx: While Black Velvet Elvis isn’t a band, it is a song.

    @danielx:

    Our most famous local Elvii are the Red Elvises (guys who immigrated from Russia), who apparently are now officially known as Igor and the Red Elvises.

    @efgoldman: Executive office building is to the west and Treasury is to the east. Parks to the north and south (North is Lafayette Park, a favorite of protesters.) I think there’s plenty of potential for fun with the neighbors.
