Before I go to sleep myself, I swear I heard a commercial for a Christian weight loss and fitness program on late night Boston area tv. It was very weird to hear that here. Apparently this is a minor thing, perhaps related to the same impulse as Christian Mingle.

@Anne Laurie. Oh very cool; I am hat tipped.

@Tenar Darell: I think you deserve all the hat tip. I only commented on your link to the video. Funny that the line I don’t like is the line AL picked for the title of this post.

An American artist has installed a giant green butt plug in Paris’ Place Vendome. When he went to take a look at it, a local person slapped him in the face. I can’t say that I blame the local.

You think that is odd? Several years ago I’m driving down the highway in Vegas; a car in front of me has one of those wraps advertising something. When I get close enough to read it, it says “Go to XXXtian.com! The #1 Christian p0rn site on the web!!”

Who knew this was a thing? And, no, didn’t check it out. *

You have to wonder how many accidents followed them around. I admit, it did take my attention off the road for a while.

*Edit to say, I am not positive I remember the name of the website correctly, but the tagline “the #1 Christian . . . ” – that is word for word.

I just stole away to an undisclosed location to watch a repeat of The Walking Dead season premiere…my neighborhood cinema is gonna project each Sun night episode (cool, right?) so I had to get caught up. 15 more days of GOTV phone calling; Sat (today) will be a long day, I have an MRI scheduled after calls to determine how effed up my back is.

    Thanks, Obama!

But then I remember how badly Martha Coakley ran a campaign and how Fitzgerald might have just shot Ohio in the face with his horrible effort and then I remember – THIS is why I am a Democrat.

Well, went to bed regular tme, maybe a lttle earlier than usual. Laid there for an hour, not asleep yet, so got up, had some chocolate. Now surfing, still not sleepy.

Next I’ll try chamomile tea, which often helps.

    Ebola,Ebola, Ebola,Ebola, Ebola,Ebola,
    Ebola,Ebola, Ebola,Ebola, Ebola,Ebola, Ebola,Ebola, Ebola,Ebola, Ebola,Ebola,

    Am I a Republican yet?

It is a horrible disease, and terrible that people who have family burial rituals appear to be almost certain to spread the virus while preparing their relatives for burial, and very resistant to allowing the Ebola dead to be cremated. Ignorance is its own punishment in this case perhaps more than anything we have seen -at least since the world wars.

I’m gonna blame the rich Republican bastards using that hospital to make themselves rich. Not prepared! What were they thinking? Dallas is a big city with people from all over the world – hell, Houston is like that.

HELL, Charleston, West Virginia is like that! And there’s only 50,000 people living there!!! There’s an airport and everything.

I swerve back and forth between “We’re all gonna die from the Republican Stupid!” and “This is all a hooraa created by the Republicans to take people’s minds off the fact that the Republicans have cut a freaking BILLION dollars from the National Institutes of Health and the CDC – no wonder the hospital didn’t know what to do, there was no one left at CDC to go teach them!!!”

If people vote for Republicans next month, they get what they deserve, dead. In a terrible puking excreting horrible Republican death.

Hawaii Juicer here. Didn’t even stock up on water. Thing is *barely* a hurricane and will swing well south of us. Arclitedaughter has an outdoor swim meet tomorrow that isn’t even canceled. She’s shooting to qualify for State championships in some of her weaker events: breaststroke and long freestyle. We’ll get some wind, and a little rain, but it won’t be much worse than strong trades.

Huge hockey weekend with #2 Minnesota at #1 Wisconsin for two games. And in the opener on Friday, either the Gophers blowtorched the #1 team in the country or they are the #1 team in the country.

I’ll be honest. Even after the last two years in which Minnesota went a combined 79-2-1, I made the trip today saying that I’d be happy with a split. I still feel that way: tomorrow, we’re playing with house money. Bucky NEEDS to beat us whereas we just want to beat them. If we win tomorrow, that will make it 13 in a row in the series and it’s up to them to chase us.

@tsquared2001: Heehee, This is exactly how I feel. Nate Silver even has a column up about how the loser of the election is always complaining about the polling being inaccurate. I actually am not surprised at Gardner/Udall. I never bought the Colorado being a blue state crap but I’m surprised at Iowa. Iowa’s even doing decently economically so I don’t understand this run to the GOP. And, Tom Harkin, who I used to like can go pound sand. He’s refusing to give up any of 2.4 million leftover in his campaign account to help elect dems. Asshole.

    @mai naem:

I read somewhere that Jeanne Shaheen is running behind Scott Porno Brown. Scott fucking pink leather shorts cosmoboy is leading Shaheen.

The following is a reasonable précis of how that contest stands at the moment:

The Senate race, in which Brown is challenging Jeanne Shaheen, who served three terms as governor and now wants a second six-year stint in Washington, is one of the most closely watched in the country. Shaheen has pretty consistently held a lead, but it’s narrowed considerably. Part of that is due to Brown constantly linking her to Obama. And Brown, who served more than three decades in the Massachusetts National Guard, has played up national security and the threat posed by the Islamic State, better known as ISIS: Shaheen, he says, “supports America’s failed foreign policy.”

That’s Matthew Cooper writing for Newsweek.

How in the world is [Braley] losing to that wackadoodle [Ernst]?

    0. She’s from a farm background, and was the commander of the Iowa National Guard unit that did a couple tours in W’s Grand Iraqi Adventure. Iowans love them some “ordinary-looking small town girl becomes mover and shaker in the wide world” narrative.

    1. Until two weeks ago, her wackadoodliness received very little attention.

    2. Twenty years of Rush Limbaugh and Fox News has done terrible damage to the politics of rural Iowa.

    3. Gannett has all-but-destroyed the formerly-near-great Des Moines Register.

No, customs and traditions in the region have changed to keep with the times. Nobody’s shaking hands etc. it’s a very poor area and you’re hosed if someone in the family gets it. Hospitals are at capacity and they turn back people with symptoms. No way the rest if the family can escape. It’s the lack of resources hurting the region.
